Abstract

Cetaceans are a group of marine mammals fully adapted to aquatic life including whales and dolphins. Dolphins belong to a group of marine animals known as Cetaceans that have evolved completely to live in water. In Indonesian waters, almost all cetacean species have been classified as protected biota. Many cetacean deaths have been linked to water pollution and underwater seismic activity. The bottlenose dolphin (genus Tursiop) is one of the most studied cetacean species due to its wide distribution in tropical and temperate waters and its friendly behavior towards humans. This research shows that the results of the size of the Tursiops truncatus bones in the Cranii section found on Senggigi Beach are different from the results of the size of the Cranii bones of Tursiops truncatus found on Korea's Jeju Island. In a review of literature written about the bones of the Tursiops truncatus species from Korea, Jeju Island. Each part of the Os Cranii on Tursiop truncatus found on Jeju Island, Korea has a very different size from the Tursiop truncatus found on Senggigi Beach which can be concluded that the size of the Os Cranii on Tursiops truncatus found on Jeju Island, Korea has the same size. larger than the size of Tursiops truncatus found on Senggigi Beach, West Lombok Regency. The cause of differences in bone size could be due to diet and habitat. A study on stable isotope analysis of marine mammals off the coast of Northwest Africa and unique trophic niches says mammalian bones reflect not only differences in trophic level but also shifts in foraging areas.

Abstract

Fasciolosis is a parasitic disease that attacks ruminants and often causes losses among farmers in the form of decreased livestock productivity levels and even causes death in livestock. this study aims to determine the vermicidal effect of katuk (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr) leaf extract against fasciola sp. in vitro in terms of the length of time of death. the samples used in this study were fasciola worms taken from the Majeluk Slaughterhouse (RPH). this study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 7 treatments with 3 repetitions, the treatments in this study consisted of katuk (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr) leaf extract concentrations of 2.5%, 3.5% and 4.5%. Albendazole with concentrations of 2.5%, 3.5% and 4.5% and negative control using distilled water. the data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA), further tested using the Duncan test. the results of this study showed that the treatment of katuk (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr) leaf extract with concentrations of 2.5%, 3.5%, 4.5% had a significantly different effect (P>0.05) in accelerating the death time of fasciola sp compared to the negative control (distilled water), but was still lower than the Albendazole treatment. Albendazole, even at the lowest concentration (2.5%), caused the death of worms faster than cotton leaf extract.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the chemical content of the urine of local cats living freely around Mataram. The sample used was cat urine taken randomly. Twenty-five cats’ urine samples were put into a sterile urine pot. Urine chemistry examination and observation were carried out using a urine analyzer strip to identify the levels of urine chemistry, namely nitrite, protein, pH, blood, ketones, bilirubin, and glucose. The examination was done by dipping the strip into each urine sample; the strip was taken and tapped on the tissue, then inserted into the urine analyzer machine. After the results are obtained, the machine will automatically issue the results of the urine chemistry analysis, reading the results for no more than 60 seconds. This study emphasizes observing the quantity or amount of substances and sedimentation in cat urine samples. All of the 25 samples examined were positive (100%) for nitrite, protein, ketones, and glucose levels. The results of the blood level examination in urine were negative in all samples, the examination of urine pH levels in 25 samples varied with an average pH of 6.84, and the examination of bilirubin levels was positive in 24 (96%) urine samples. From the examination of the samples, there were indications of disorders of the uropoetic system and bacteriuria in cat urine.
