Abstract

Konglish is a Korean vocabulary adapted from English but pronounced according to Korean pronunciation. The pronunciation usually seems to sound like Korean, but the writing is more towards spelled English. An example is "Big Size" which in Korean becomes 빅 사이즈 (bik-sa-ee-jeu). This analysis focuses on Konglish findings in the Korean film that aired on 2021 entitled Sweet & Sour. "Sweet and Sour" is a captivating romantic comedy-drama film from South Korea, helmed by director Lee Gye-byeok. The purpose of this study is to analyse the various word formation Konglish found in Sweet & Sour films and classify them according to the borrowing characteristics theory from Molina & Albir (2002). The researcher alson want to know the reason behind why the dominant type of Konglish borrowing are found. Molina & Albir (2002) have classified borrowing more detail into two characteristics: (1) pure borrowing, and (2) naturalized borrowing. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method because the results of the analysis presented descriptively. The data analysis technique used is to rewrite the dialogue in the form of a transcript, then take note and analyse the Konglish words contained in the dialogue. The results of this research found around 42 Konglish found in the film "Sweet and Sour" with details: Naturalized Borrowing found 13 times with a percentage of 30.95%. and Pure Borrowing found 29 times with a percentage of 69.04% and the influence of working field as this movie’s background made Pure Borrowing as the dominant type found.Keyword: Borrowing word, Konglish, Naturalized, Pure

Google docs is a free and easy-to-use technology on which individual, pair, and groups of students can create, write, edit, store, comment and give immediate feedback on their writing simultaneously from their computers or other tablet devices they have in and outside the classroom. In this research, the researcher conducted research about perception on the use of Google Docs. The problem of this research is what is students’ perception of writing text online using Google Docs. This research aims to know the strategy use by the students in writing descriptive text online using Google Docs.The researcher will discuss about writing descriptive text using Google Docs. The use of Google Docs is common media used during 2022/2023. Google Docs helps the teacher to deliver the material. In this case, writing tasks require students to produce a shared text. In groups, students scaffold tasks and achieve a more developed product. Google Docs facilitates writing instructional practices. Google Docs allows people to work, read, review, comment, and edit to each other in the same document simultaneously (Deveci, 2018; Ishtaiwa & Aburazeq, 2015). It gives the benefits that Google Docs offers, this research reported sought to explore students’ perception on writing processes using Google Docs, especially in generating their ideas, organizing the text, and constructing the sentences in writing descriptive text.This research used descriptive research because based on the research problem; the objective of this research it is to know students’ perception of writing text online using Google Docs for SMK Negeri 01 Jember in 2022/2023 Academic Year.Based on the data, students' perspective on Google Docs is positive. From the students' view can be seen how Google Docs help students to do assignments anywhere, anytime, can access these tools directly to correct their assignments and submit to the teacher. They also get other positive things when they want to find information of assignment by accessing it on their cellphone while they are working on Google Docs. In other side, they also find difficulty in internet access.

Abstract

This study analyzes gestures and their meaning in Senior Year (2022) movie. The objectives of this study are (1) to find out the types and their meaning used by the main character, and (2) to analyze the meanings of gestures in relation to the semantic meaning of the main character. This study used a qualitative descriptive method using the theory of types and meaning of gestures by David McNeil and Levy (2005), and Semantic Meaning by Chaer (1994). This study showed that 86 data had been found. There are 12 (14%) data as iconic gestures, 13 (15%) data as deictic gestures, 16 (19%) data as metaphor gestures, and 45 (52%) data as beat gestures. The meaning of the gesture used by the main character also varies based on gesture. The meaning of gesture is supported by the utterances in the dialogue (Semantic Meaning). It means that the use of gestures related to the meaning of utterances. But, there are some data that do not have a cultural meaning and no relation to the semantic meaning, such as beat type. A beat gesture is a simple gesture a rhythmic movement that does not express semantic content. The main character used beat gestures to lose nervousness, to get more relaxed, to be more effective and expressive, and to increase self-confidence.Keywords: Gesture, Meaning Gesture, Semantic Meaning, Movie.
