Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di SD Tunas Harapan Bangsa Mojokerto. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk Meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi, refleksi, dan menulis guru dan siswa, Meningkatkan sosial dan emosional siswa dalam pembelajaran antar budaya, Meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa dan memperluas pemahaman terkait kebudayaan secara global. Hal ini ditujukan untuk menghindari terjadinya perundungan dan mengajarkan sikap saling menghargai akan perbedaan. Namun, siswa Sebagian besar belum berkesempatan untuk melakukan komunikasi dengan sesama siswa antar negara. Oleh karena itu, program ini bertujuan untuk memfasilitasi siswa memiliki pengalaman untuk berkomunikasi baik secara tulis maupun lisan dengan siswa dan guru antar negara melaui digital journal dalam bentuk komik (Manga Chat). Solusi dalam kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memberikan sosialisasi dan pendampingan di Program Pertukaran Antar Budaya Melalui Jurnal Digital Manga Chat Untuk Guru dan Siswa Di SD Tunas Harapan Bangsa. Adapun luarannya adalah sertifikat dan submit artikel ilmiah.

Abstract

This research explores how a teacher’s literacy practices, through a digital storytelling project, foster critical thinking and collaboration among students. It also examines students' experiences during literacy activities and the project itself. Conducted as a qualitative case study, this research involved thirty-six senior high school students. Data were gathered through classroom observations, interviews, and documentation of students’ project artifacts. The findings suggest that using reading journals during self-directed reading at home promotes critical thinking and assists students in generating ideas for their digital storytelling projects. Besides, digital storytelling projects also play a key role in enhancing students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills. Students effectively articulated issues and proposed solutions within their stories. Some topics related to the environments chosen cover air pollution, water pollution, building/housing, and illegal logging. Participation in the collaborative project encouraged students to take responsibility for their contributions and to respect differing opinions within their teams. Exploring students’ views as their reflection on experiencing literacy practices in digital storytelling projects also reveals the positive impacts on their English ability. This approach provides educators with a practical and innovative strategy to foster students’ skills, i.e. critical thinking and collaboration in the 21st century in an educational context.

Abstract

The Power of Religious Organization Ideology in Adam Hawa and Tuhan Izinkan Aku Menjadi Pelacur Novels Written by Muhidin M Dahlan With The Relevancy in Literary Criticisim Course Teaching Materials ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan hegemoni ideologi organisasi keagamaan dalam novel Adam Hawa dan Tuhan Izinkan Aku Menjadi Pelacur karya Muhidin M Dahlan (Gus Muh). Hasil identifikasi ini memiliki relevansi dengan Capaian Pembelajaran Mata Kuliah (CPMK) Kritik Sastra. Penelitian ini berjenis kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Analisis menggunakan analisis isi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hegemoni ideologi dalam organisasi keluarga dan keagamaan berbentuk patriarki dan materialisme. Oleh karena itu, kedua novel berpotensi sebagai bahan ajar mata kuliah Kritik Sastra pada kompetensi keterampilan umum dan khusus.Kata kunci: Hegemoni, Sastra, Pendidikan ABSTRACTThis research aims to describe ideological hegemony in Adam Hawa and Tuhan Izinkan Aku Menjadi Pelacur written by Muhidin M Dahlan (Gus Muh). The result of the study has relevance with the learning outcomes of the literary criticism course. This research is qualitative with sociology literature approach. Content analysis is used in the analysis. The result of the research shows that the ideological hegemony in family and religious organization are in forms of patriarchy and materialism. It means that these novels are potential in teaching materials for literary criticism course on both specific and general skill competences.Keywords: Hegemony, Literature, Education

Abstract

The speed of technology development facilities students in learning English digitally. They could express and use English in informal digital environment through social media and learning English application or resources. Informal Digital Learning of English (IDLE) contributes to students language enhancement. This study is want to dig in about the use of digital learning to informal and independent learning of English. Therefore, this research aims to explore how IDLE activity can engage receptive skills in university students and to explore how IDLE receptive skill activity can develop university students’ receptive skills. This study found that each individul can experience an increase in English receptive skills by going through the stages of learning using social media and English learning applications. IDLE-based learning can be built through the initiative and willingness of each individual, because this learning is not tied to a specific schedule or material to be studied. Each individual can organize and determine how they learn according to their wishes.

Abstract

Reflection has a vital contribution to improving teachers’ teaching performance as well as their professional growth. Therefore, this research investigates how prospective teachers apply reflection activities in teaching and learning and the impacts of the implementation of an independent curriculum during teaching practice program activities. Using qualitative research, the researchers employed a group interview consisting of two participants in each group. The participants were six prospective teachers who accomplished the teaching practice program. Three types of reflections were employed, i.e., reflection-before-lesson, reflection-during-lesson, and reflection-after-lesson. The results indicate that teachers’ reflective practice leads to improvement in their teaching process and builds engagement with the students. The insights of the research results are further discussed.

Abstract

Facebook is one of famous social network around people in Indonesia. Here, they can connect to a lot of person around the world. This paper focused in discussing the implicature meaning on speaker utterance and the aim of producing those utterance. Implicature from Yule were used to convey this problem. This paper used qualitative as the method to elaborate the analysis and discussion of the problem. The result of analysis show that speaker imply some point in their communication, such as unknown, agreement or disagreement, and yes/no. Furthermore, this paper conclude there are three aim of people in using implicature meaning while they are speaking; for saving act, making a joke, and mocking.

Abstract

kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kompetensi guru dan kepala sekolah serta kualitas pembelajaran sekolah dengan memberikan pelatihan kurikulum merdeka dan pendampingan proses implementasi kurikulum merdeka di tujuh satuan Pendidikan baik di kota maupun kabupaten Mojokerto. Adapun metode pelaksanaan pengabdian adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan. Pelatihan dengan materi kurikulum merdeka dimulai tanggal 22 Mei – 16 Juni 2023. Adapun kegiatan pendampingan dengan strategi PMO (Project Management Office) dilaksanakan di bulan Agustus, Oktober, dan Desember di tahun 2023. Adapun hasil kegiatan pengabdian adalah bahwa peningkatan pemahaman guru terhadap kurikulum merdeka dilihat dari kelengkapan dan pemahaman dalam menyelesaikan tugas. 100% peserta pelatihan menunjukkan pemahaman terhadap kurikulum merdeka. Adapun keberhasilan pembelajaran di sekolah dalam implementasi kurikulum merdeka dilihat dari progress satuan Pendidikan dalam melakukan tindak lanjut yang digali melalui kegiatan PMO. Kegiatan pengabdian dikatakan berhasil karena hasil angket lebih dari 75% peserta kegiatan pengabdian memberikan respon positif kepada pelaksana pengabdian.

Abstract

This research uses the hybrid learning method to discuss the perceptions of students and teachers in English language learning. This study aims to understand how students and teachers perceive English language learning through the hybrid method. This research used a descriptive qualitative method, with data obtained through interviews and questionnaires. The study focuses on students and teachers from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, English Department, at Universitas Islam Majapahit. The results of this research indicate that both students and teachers have positive responses toward using hybrid learning in English language education. Hybrid learning facilitates students' understanding of the material, as they can review the instructional videos on the e-learning platform. Students become more enthusiastic about participating in lessons due to the various features and tools available in hybrid learning, which helps to reduce boredom during classes. Hybrid learning is also highly effective in assisting students who cannot attend in person, allowing them to follow the lessons without missing any material. Teachers conduct evaluations at the end of each lesson to identify and address any shortcomings in that day's teaching. Teachers feel glad because this method can accommodate students and teachers who cannot attend in person.

Abstract

This research explores the values of character education based on the five main values of strengthening character education that are applied in the classroom. The method used in this research is qualitative. The sample for this research was one of the English teachers at SMP NEGERI 1 Mojosari. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this research show that teachers at SMP NEGERI 1 Mojosari have implemented 5 main values in strengthening character education, namely religious values, nationalism, integrity, independence, and mutual cooperation. These values have been implemented quite well in the teaching and learning process. Even though teachers at SMP NEGERI 1 Mojosari face obstacles, the school also continues to look for solutions to overcome these problems by strengthening teacher collaboration and fostering good relations between parents and SMP NEGERI 1 Mojosari.
