Abstract

The Qur'an, as the main source of Islamic teachings, was revealed in Arabic, a language rich in linguistic diversity and semantic depth, so that every word used has multiple meanings and is contextual. One of the keywords that has a central position in the Qur'an is the word zakat. Until now, studies on zakat have mostly focused on fiqhiyah aspects and legal practices, while linguistic studies and textual interpretations of the word zakat in the Qur'an are still relatively limited. In fact, the use of the word zakat in various verses shows a diversity of meanings that are not singular, as well as a development of meaning in line with the context of revelation. This study aims to analyze the use of the word zakat in the Qur'an by tracing its linguistic form, the context of the verses, and its diversity of meanings. This study is a library based qualitative research. Primary data consists of verses from the Qur'an containing the word zakat and its derivatives, while secondary data comes from classical and contemporary tafsir books, as well as relevant scientific literature. Data analysis was conducted using the Qur'anic semantic approach developed by Toshihiko Izutsu to reveal the basic and relational meanings of the word zakat, as well as the maudhu'i (thematic) interpretation method to systematically examine the verses on zakat based on the Makkiyah and Madaniyah contexts. The results of the study show that the word zakat in the Qur'an has a dynamic and multidimensional meaning. In the Makkiyah verses, zakat emphasizes the purification of the soul and the formation of individual moral values. Meanwhile, in the Madaniyah verses, zakat develops into an institutional and normative socio-economic obligation. This finding confirms that zakat is a Qur'anic concept that encompasses spiritual, social, and moral dimensions in an integrated manner. This study is expected to enrich the semantic study of the Qur'an and provide a more comprehensive understanding of the concept of zakat from the perspective of the Qur'an.

Abstract

The moral and spiritual crisis has become an increasingly prominent phenomenon in contemporary society, marked by a weakening orientation towards divine values, rising materialism, and the degradation of individual and social ethics. This study aims to thematically analyze verses from the Qur'an about prayer and relate them to the reality of the contemporary moral and spiritual crisis in order to demonstrate their theoretical and practical relevance. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach through a literature review with primary data in the form of Qur'anic verses related to prayer, specifically QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 43, QS. Thaha [20]: 14, and QS. Al-'Ankabut [29]: 45, as well as secondary data from tafsir literature and scientific articles. Data analysis was carried out using a thematic (maudhu'i) tafsir approach. The results of the study show that prayer in the perspective of the Qur'an has integrated theological, spiritual, moral, and social dimensions and functions as a means of forming divine consciousness and human ethics. This study concludes that prayer is a relevant Qur'anic response to the moral and spiritual crisis in the modern era.

Abstract

Abstract

The development of global communication and Arabic language learning among non-Arabs demands a deeper understanding of classical rhetorical aspects. This study aims to analyze Tasybīh in the science of Ilm al-Bayān, examining its structure, elements, and variants, as well as evaluating its relevance to contemporary communication and Arabic language pedagogy. This qualitative literature review employs narrative and thematic approaches, integrating classical and modern references published between 2020 and 2025. The findings indicate that Tasybīh functions not only as a linguistic comparison but also as an aesthetic, emotional, and persuasive rhetorical device. Variants such as Mursal, Mu’akkad, Mufashshal, Mujmal, Balīgh, and Tamtsīl play a significant role in strengthening meaning and evoking vivid mental imagery. This study contributes novelty by linking classical Tasybīh analysis with pedagogical implications for modern Arabic language education, thereby preserving the aesthetic value, depth of meaning, and linguistic identity of classical Arabic.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has shaped Generation Alpha into a cohort deeply integrated with virtual interactions, thereby posing challenges to the development of empathy and social responsibility within real-life contexts. This study aims to examine the Madrasah Berbagi Program as a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in fostering empathy and social concern among madrasah ibtidaiyah students. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research was conducted at an madrasah ibtidaiyah and involved 20 fifth- and sixth-grade students, the school principal, and two teachers as key informants. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, and subsequently analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Triangulation and member checking were applied to ensure the credibility of the findings. The findings indicate that the Madrasah Berbagi Program provides authentic social experiences through students’ active involvement in identifying beneficiaries, collecting basic necessities, and directly distributing aid within the surrounding community. These activities stimulated emotional engagement, enhanced social sensitivity, and demonstrated indications of students’ prosocial behavior in their daily interactions. Although the program reflects several core principles of PjBL—such as authentic context, collaboration, and the production of tangible outputs with social impact—its implementation remains partial, as it has not fully incorporated student-driven formulation of essential questions and structured reflection as integral components of the instructional design. This study concludes that the Madrasah Berbagi Program holds strong potential as a contextual PjBL model for character education in madrasah ibtidaiyah.

Abstract

Speaking proficiency in Arabic is a fundamental language skill that supports students’ religious comprehension, particularly within the context of Islamic schools (madrasah). However, the limited frequency of speaking practice, low levels of student self-confidence, and the use of less interactive teaching methods present significant barriers to the development of this competency. In response to these challenges, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the windows shopping learning model in enhancing the Arabic speaking skills of eighth-grade students at MTs Pondok Pesantren Nurul Huda, Indragiri Hulu. Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, data were collected through pre- and post-tests and analyzed using a t-test and N-Gain calculation. The findings reveal that the implementation of the windows shopping model has a significant positive effect on improving students' Arabic speaking abilities. This model effectively fosters an active and communicative learning environment through independent exploration, peer dialogue, and oral presentation, all of which encourage direct student engagement. The novelty of this study lies in the application of the windows shopping model within the Arabic language learning contextan area where its use has previously been more common in social studies instruction. This model holds promise as a reference for madrasah curriculum development policies focused on active learning and offers an alternative strategy for enhancing students’ oral communication skills in a contextual, participatory, and meaningful manner.
