Abstract

This study aims to explore the potential integration of Anang Ardiansyah's songs into the Merdeka curriculum for strengthening character education. The research method uses a qualitative approach with Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutic analysis of four selected songs. Data collection was done through a documentation study of song lyrics and related literature. The analysis used Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutic method with the stages of explanation, understanding, and appropriation. To ensure research reliability, source triangulation was conducted by comparing various references to Banjar music, local cultural values, and Merdeka Curriculum policy documents. The results identified that “Batasmiyah” and “Bismillah Kata Bamula” are rich in religiosity values that support the dimension of faith and piety; “Puhun Rambai” highlights the value of gotong royong and harmony with nature that aligns with the dimension of working together; while “Paris Barantai” emphasizes love for the country that supports the dimension of global diversity. In addition, the songs can be integrated in various subjects through project-based and contextualized learning. The research also produced value implementation strategies through various learning activities. In conclusion, Anang Ardiansyah's songs have significant potential as a source of contextualized and meaningful character education in the formal education system. This research provides practical implications for teachers to develop meaningful learning that strengthens students' character and preserves local cultural heritage.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the orienting, implementing, and assessing aspects constructed by music teachers in optimizing AI-powered music creation social media to amplify learning content. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through focus group discussions (FGDs) and documentation studies. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman model with the stages, 1) data collection, 2) data reduction, 3) data presentation, 4) conclusion drawing/verification. Data validity used triangulation techniques, including source and technical triangulation. The results show that, orientatively, the experience of interacting with technological advances and social dynamics has shaped the respondents' knowledge and understanding, not only on various types and functions, but also in determining the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the platform. Implementatively, in line with the values of music education, the integration of a platform that amplifies content into learning is used to engage students' creative dimensions where cognitive, affective, and psychomotor are bound to the ethical principles of AI use and aesthetic criteria of music. By assessment, the involvement of peer teachers and students provided an important drive in establishing effectiveness, impact, and support from stakeholders. This study recommends that the development of AI used in creation is a new challenge for music teachers in strengthening the integrity of their professionalism. The utilization of these tools and resources makes it easier for them to be creative in clarifying and emphasizing the elements of musical sound to build effective and valuable learning.

Abstract

The limited availability of contextual and culture-based music learning media in elementary schools restricts students’ understanding of musical concepts and diminishes engagement with local cultural values. This study aims to develop and implement Kintung-based music learning media by utilizing the traditional bamboo musical instrument of the Banjar community to enhance students’ musical skills and cultural appreciation. The research adopted a Research and Development (R&D) design using the ADDIE model, with qualitative techniques embedded in each stage. During the Analysis phase, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation of Kintung practices in community and school settings involving musicians, art teachers, and elementary school students. The Design and Development stages involved selecting appropriate bamboo materials, cutting and shaping resonant tubes, tuning instruments to the diatonic scale, and preparing instructional materials aligned with learning objectives. The Implementation stage consisted of learning activities structured into preparation, presentation, practice, and performance, through which students learned instrument-playing techniques, rhythmic patterns, and traditional Banjar songs such as Ampar-Ampar Pisang and Ampat Si Ampat Lima. Evaluation results indicate that the media effectively improved students’ technical performance, rhythmic accuracy, ecological awareness, and appreciation of local culture. This study concludes that Kintung-based music learning media provides a culturally grounded and pedagogically relevant innovation for integrating traditional music into elementary education, supporting students’ musical skill development, and contributing to the preservation of local cultural identity.

Abstract

This study applied arts-based research with supportive quantitative indicators to design, implement, and evaluate the Psychotherapeutic Art Education Method (PAEM), a structured four-practiced art process (Meditation Art Drawing, Psychic Art, Dreaming Art Painting, and Art Discussion) based on the active imagination of Carl Jung, and systematized by Comandini (2019). It aims to explore if PAEM could reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression and increase the art & imagination expression among undergraduate students. Ten students from different majors at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, reported mild to moderate emotional distress participated in two weekends workshops in December 2024. Data were collected through validated pre- and post- questionnaires for mental health and art & imagination scales, reflective portfolios, voluntary Socratic reflections, and symbolic analysis of artworks. Triangulation combined quantitative scores, thematic analysis of written and oral reflections, and Jungian interpretation of visual archetypes. Findings showed a 38.1 % reduction in the mean mental health indicator (from 3.78 to 2.34 on a 5-point scale) and a 10.8 % increase in art & imagination scores (from 3.32 to 3.68). Participants’ artworks consistently revealed Jungian archetypes, linked to personal narratives of trauma, isolation, and resilience. Students described feeling “lighter”, less alone, and more accepting of difficult emotions. The study offers an initial empirical bridge between Jungian depth psychology and art education practice in Indonesian university context, creating a safe, non-stigmatising, and profoundly meaningful space where addressing mental health remains difficult. Even though these ten stories are truly worth telling, this research encourages larger studies in the future.

Abstract

Music education supports creative expression, emotional development, and cognitive growth. During the last several years, digital game-based learning (DGBL) has been used to maintain student engagement, but its presence in music education varies considerably. Some teachers experiment with small-scale game tools, while others adapt existing commercial games for classroom use. This study maps how digital games were used in music education from 2020 to 2025, a period shaped by the shift to remote and hybrid learning after COVID-19, when many educators had to reconsider how students could practice musical skills without face-to-face instruction. A scoping review was conducted using Publish or Perish to identify studies indexed in Scopus and Google Scholar. The review followed the PRISMA 2020 framework and included peer-reviewed publications as well as relevant grey literature (e.g., theses, classroom-developed projects), acknowledging that many pedagogical innovations in music education are not always disseminated through formal journals. The initial search resulted in 124 records; after screening for eligibility and methodological clarity, 26 studies were included in the synthesis. Most studies emphasized ear-training and quiz-based game formats, while rhythm-based, exploratory, and curriculum-integrated designs appeared less frequently. Research contexts were dominated by beginner learners, elementary education, and university courses, with only a small number of studies focusing on senior high school contexts. These findings highlight gaps in current research and indicate the need for future game designs that support sustained perceptual training and integrate culturally grounded approaches to music learning.
