Abstract

The integration of augmented reality (AR) technology into education has gained attention as an innovative tool to enhance students' learning experiences, particularly for abstract concepts such as chemical bonding. E-modules that incorporate AR can provide three-dimensional visualizations, making complex topics more accessible and engaging. This study aims to develop and validate practical e-modules using AR technology to enhance students' spatial intelligence while incorporating local wisdom from Padangsidimpuan. The research follows a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model and a pretest-posttest control group design. Data were collected from three high schools in Padangsidimpuan using simple random sampling. Instruments included validation sheets (for material, media, and language), observation, user response questionnaires, and pretest-posttest tests to assess students' spatial intelligence. The e-module achieved high validation scores: 0.9 (material), 0.8 (media), and 0.9 (language). Student response rates were 80% (feasibility), 85% (AR usage), and 83.2% (language). Teachers provided an average response score of 88.6, indicating high practicality. The spatial intelligence assessment across the three schools yielded an average score of 0.85 in the high category. The AR-based e-modules effectively improve students' spatial intelligence by visualizing abstract chemical bonding concepts in 3D. This innovation contributes to enhancing chemistry education and preserving local wisdom in Padangsidimpuan, offering a model for future educational advancements.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the existence of Zam-zam water trade in Padangsidimpuan City, while the Saudi Arabian government prohibited the export of Zam-zam water. This causes people to suspect that the quality of Zam-zam water circulating in the market is not the same as the Zam-zam water found in Mecca. Therefore, research needs to be carried out to answer these concerns. This research aims to analyze the mineral content of labeled packaged Zam-zam water circulating in Padangsidimpuan City compared with Zam-zam water brought from Mecca City. The mineral concentrations tested were sodium and chloride. This research uses laboratory experimental methods, including quantitative analysis. According to the type of research, the data analysis technique used is to compare the concentration of each mineral in the water labeled Zam-zam with the mineral concentration in the Zam-zam water used as a control. The research results showed that Zam-zam water obtained from Mecca City contained 42.4 mg/L chloride, 2.06 mg/L sodium, while the labeled Zam-zam water circulating in Padangsidimpuan, namely sample 1, contained 160.7 mg/L chloride. sodium 2.06 mg/L in sample 2 contains 50.5 mg/L chloride, sodium 2.17 mg/L. The three Zam-Zam samples circulating in Padangsidimpuan that have been tested show that the quality of Zam-Zam water is suitable for consumption based on determining a good water quality test, namely at the suitability threshold.

Abstract

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas. This condition is caused by inadequate nutritional intake, improper parenting practices, and poor sanitation. This community service program aims to enhance the awareness of the Gunung Hasahatan Village community regarding stunting prevention through counseling and hands-on educational activities. The program involves collaboration among academics, healthcare professionals, and local government authorities to provide insights into the importance of balanced nutrition, proper childcare practices, and environmental hygiene. The implementation methods include interactive lectures, discussions, and demonstrations on preparing nutritious meal plans using locally sourced food ingredients. Additionally, various government programs for stunting prevention were introduced, such as the 1,000 Days of Life Program (HPK), Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT), and Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM). The results of the program indicate an increase in participants’ understanding of stunting and its prevention strategies, as reflected in their active engagement in discussions and commitment to adopting healthier lifestyles. This initiative has had a positive impact on the community, particularly pregnant women and mothers with young children, by raising awareness of the importance of nutrition and proper parenting to prevent stunting. As a follow-up, a mentoring program for families at risk of stunting is proposed, along with collaboration with the village government to ensure access to nutritious food sources. With continuous education and community engagement, it is expected that the stunting rate in Gunung Hasahatan Village can be reduced, ensuring a healthier and more productive future generation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of applying the Index Card Match (ICM) method in improving science learning outcomes of students at Ban Eyoh School in Thailand. This study uses a quantitative experimental research design with a Quasi-Experimental Design approach. Data were collected through pretest and posttest administered before and after the implementation of the ICM method. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes, with a sig. value of 0.001 (< 0.05). The average posttest score of the experimental (80.61) was 10.31 points higher than that of the control (70.30). This effectiveness was reinforced by the N-Gain Score of “quite effective” (56%) for ICM, while the control class was “ineffective” (39%). The effectiveness of the ICM learning model is also demonstrated by: 1) A statistically significant difference between the learning outcomes of the experimental group (ICM) and the control group (conventional), 2) A higher posttest average score for the experimental group compared to the control group, and 3) The learning effectiveness level (N-Gain Score) in the experimental class was categorized as “quite effective”, while the control class was “ineffective”. Therefore, ICM can be recommended as an alternative innovative learning model, especially in the context of science learning in a challenging
