Abstract

Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder that requires long-term care and treatment. The treatment requires caregivers who may come from the family. A caregiver's daily tasks can be overwhelming, leading to psychosocial problems. This study aims to identify the effectiveness of psychosocial adaptation interventions in overcoming psychosocial problems in family caregivers of schizophrenic patients. This study used a systematic review approach. The literature search was sourced from five databases: Wiley Online Library, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, EMBASE, and Sage Journals. The keywords used were family caregiver, schizophrenia patient, psychosocial adaptation, and psychosocial problem. The results of a literature search obtained 448 articles then were screened with the criteria of articles published in 2018-2023, open access, full-text articles, original articles with a randomized controlled trial study design, discussing psychosocial adaptation interventions and psychosocial problems in schizophrenic family caregivers, and English. The results of the article screening obtained six articles, and critical appraisal was carried out using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Randomized Controlled Trials. All of them were included in grade A ( 90%). Based on the results, psychosocial adaptation interventions effectively dealt with family caregivers' psychosocial problems, including signs of depression, anxiety, stress, self-stigma, psychological burden, emotions, feelings of worthlessness, and powerlessness. Therefore, psychosocial adaptation interventions for schizophrenia family caregivers could be conducted comprehensively by telephone or spiritual approach, involving direct contact with patients, families, and communities. With optimal involvement by family caregivers by focusing on positive aspects and goals that the family caregiver wants to achieve, the role of accompanying the care and treatment of schizophrenic patients can be achieved.

Abstract

One of the domains of quality of life for people living with HIV (PLWH) is independence, which is how PLWH undergo antiretroviral therapy (ARV) adherently. PLWHA face various problems, including social problems such as stigma, ostracization, and discrimination. Social stigma can be a form of chronic stress for HIV/AIDS patients. One of the approaches used to improve intervention outcomes for PLWH is peer support. This study was conducted to explore in-depth the experiences of peer supporters in assisting PLHIV undergoing ARV therapy. This study was a qualitative research with a descriptive qualitative approach. Eight peer supporters who are members of peer support groups in Sorong City and Sorong Regency, and have been actively providing support to PLHIV for at least one year were purposively selected for this study. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews using a semi-structured interview guide. Data was collected over a period of one month, and analyzed thematically. Three main themes were generated, namely the benefits of peer support for ODHIV, barriers to the implementation of peer support, and efforts to overcome barriers. The conclusion of this study is that the support provided to ODHIV through peer supporters has a good impact on the achievement of care for ODHIV. The peer support program can be integrated with nursing programs and interventions for PLHIV. Although there are obstacles in its implementation, it can be resolved with the cooperation of various parties.

Abstract

ABSTRACTUniversity student resilience is a crucial factor in academic success and psychological well-being. This study aims to explicate the concept of developing resilience among university students. Walker and Avant's concept analysis approach will be employed to analyze and clarify the understanding of resilience development. This concept analysis will help identify key attributes that support resilience development, such as coping skills, social support, optimism, and self-belief. The Walker and Avant framework will be used to construct a comprehensive framework for developing student resilience, encompassing intervention programs, assessment, and evaluation. The results of this concept analysis are expected to contribute to the development of effective programs to enhance student resilience, enabling them to better cope with academic and non-academic challenges
