Abstract

Drug abuse has spread to all social class. The data of drug users among Elementary Schoolstudents were not as much detailed as those of drug users among students with highereducation and workers. Observing the cases reported by the print media and television,drug abuse among Elementary School students is increasingly rampant. Currently, thedevelopment of computer technology is utilized to all aspects in life. One of the aspects iseducation. The development of information technology can be applied in the production ofdrug abuse prevention interactive multimedia. It helps the students to study independently,mainly in Social Studies. Lastly the Social Studies in Elementary Schools is only merelyglued to rote learning so that the learning is less meaningful. A drug abuse preventioninteractive multimedia is therefore required in the Social Studies in Elementary Schools.An interesting interactive multimedia is expected to build the students’ learning motivationand to increase their understanding of drug abuse.Keywords: Interactive multimedia, drug prevention, Social Studies, Social Studies in ElementarySchools

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan karakter dan hasil belajar IPS menggunakan metode bermain peran pada siswa kelas IV SDN Tridadi Sleman. Peningkatan karakter difokuskan pada tiga aspek yaitu kejujuran, kerja sama, dan tanggung jawab. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, catatan lapangan dan tes hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran IPS dengan penerapan metode bermain peran dapat meningkatkan karakter siswa. Peningkatan kejujuran, kerja sama dan tanggung jawab dari Siklus I, II, dan III dimana kejujuran pada Siklus I, II, dan III berturut-turut 42,85%, 52,9%, dan 67%. kerja sama Siklus I, II, dan III memperoleh 42,14%, 51,9%, dan 62%. Sedangkan tanggung jawab pada Siklus I, II, dan III secara berurutan 44,6%, 54,1%, dan 64,1%. Peningkatan hasil belajar pada Siklus I, II, dan III berturut-turut 66,5, 72,92 dan 74,85. Jadi penerapan metode bermain peran dapat meningkatkan karakter dan hasil belajar siswa kelas IV SDN Tridadi Sleman. Kata kunci: karakter, hasil belajar kognitif, bermain peran, kejujuran, kerja sama dan tanggung jawab.

Abstract

To enhance students' critical thinking abilities, it is essential to adopt an interactive learning model where students actively participate, and the instructor acts as a facilitator. This can be achieved through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in the teaching and learning process. This study aimed to evaluate the improvement of learning outcomes and critical thinking skills through the application of the PBL model among students. Conducted as classroom action research, it involved 40 students from Yogyakarta State University. The research comprised two cycles, each consisting of two sessions. Instruments used included observation sheets for learning implementation, critical thinking assessment sheets, and tests. Data analysis was performed quantitatively using descriptive analysis methods. The findings revealed that (1) the learning process was effectively implemented, with observation data from both cycles rated as good, with a mode of 4 (good); (2) students' learning outcomes improved, with the average post-test scores increasing from 70.85 in Cycle 1 to 80.63 in Cycle 2; (3) students' critical thinking skills also enhanced, with the average score rising from 68.54 in Cycle 1 to 82.08 in Cycle 2. The conclusion of this study is that implementing PBL in the learning process can significantly enhance both critical thinking and learning outcomes. The research implies that teachers' professional competence can be developed through the application of PBL. It is recommended that teachers integrate the PBL model into their teaching practices to foster students' higher-order thinking skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, and scientific reasoning abilities.

Abstract

The low level of decision-making skills among students poses a significant challenge in elementary teacher education programs. This study aims to evaluate decision-making skills using the DECIDE model among elementary teacher education students in Indonesia. The research employed a qualitative method with a case study design. The participants consisted of 70 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using open-ended essay tests and non-test techniques, including participant observation and in-depth interviews. The results indicated that students' decision-making skills could be evaluated through the six stages of the DECIDE model: Define the Problem, demonstrated by the ability to define the problem and identify the main aspects requiring resolution; Establish the Criteria, reflected in the ability to establish relevant and objective criteria for evaluating potential solutions; Consider all the Alternatives, shown by the ability to assess all alternatives along with their advantages and disadvantages; Identify the Best Alternative, characterized by the ability to identify the best alternative based on the established criteria; Develop and Implement a Plan of Action, shown through the development of a structured action plan; and Evaluate and Monitor the Solution, demonstrated by continuous evaluation of the implemented solution. This study concluded that elementary teacher education students in Indonesia exhibit good decision-making skills based on the DECIDE model.

Abstract

This research introduced a new method by integrating STEAM-based project learning to effectively enhance students' creative and collaborative thinking skills, which has not been widely explored in the educational context. The subjects were 14 students consisting of 8 male students and 6 female fifth grade students who were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The type of research used Classroom Action Research. Data collection was carried out by interviews, observations and tests. The data analysis techniques used qualitative and quantitative. The study results showed that The average creative thinking skill of students was increase; the average collaborative thinking skill of students was increase; and learning outcomes also increased. The the result showed that STEAM integrated project-based learning can improve creative and collaborative thinking skills as well as students' social science learning outcomes. The research also contributed by showing that the implementation of STEAM-integrated project-based learning effectively enhances students' creative and collaborative thinking skills, providing a robust framework for educators to foster innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities in the classroom, ultimately preparing students for complex real-world challenges.

Abstract

The low critical thinking skills and cultural literacy of elementary school students, along with the absence of teaching materials that integrate local wisdom into science and social studies (IPAS) learning, present challenges that need to be addressed. This study aims to develop a local wisdom-based IPAS e-module to enhance students’ critical thinking skills and cultural literacy. The research employed the ADDIE development model, encompassing the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, with feasibility tests conducted by material, media, and instructional experts. Practicality tests were carried out through one-to-one trials, small group trials, and field trials, while effectiveness tests applied a quasi-experimental design with control and experimental classes analyzed using pretest–posttest data and N-gain calculations. The results indicated that the e-module was rated “highly feasible” by all validators, with “highly practical” ratings from teachers and students. Effectiveness tests showed an improvement in critical thinking skills with an N-gain of 0.70 (high category) and an improvement in cultural literacy with an N-gain of 0.44 (medium category) in the experimental class, while the control class remained in the low category. This study concludes that the local wisdom-based IPAS e-module is effective as a learning resource for improving critical thinking skills and cultural literacy, while also serving as a medium for preserving regional culture in elementary schools.

Abstract

Hasil survei PISA tahun 2022 menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan literasi dan numerasi peserta didik di Indonesia mengalami penurunan dibandingkan dengan edisi sebelumnya, termasuk di Sekolah Dasar Kabupaten Kebumen. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah meningkatkan keterampilan guru dalam mengembangkan program literasi dan numerasi. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kolaboratif melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan yang melibatkan curah pendapat, pemaparan ahli, diskusi, pemberian tugas, serta diseminasi hasil. Program pengabdian dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu prapelatihan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Kegiatan yang dilakukan pada tahap persiapan adalah need analysis dan menyiapkan instrumen. Kegiatan pelaksanaan terdiri dari 2 tahapan yaitu 1) Pemaparan ahli tentang pengembangan program literasi dan numerasi 2) Pemaparan hasil program literasi dan numerasi secara kelompok serta pemberian feedback melalui tahap peer-correction dan tindak lanjut. Kegiatan evaluasi adalah mengukur indikator keberhasilan program peningkatan kompetensi guru dalam mengembangkan program literasi dan numerasi. Hasil Pengabdian ini berupa: 1) kegiatan pendampingan meliputi kegiatan workshop kemitraan, workshop konsep program penguatan literasi dan numersasi, serta workshop penyusunan program penguatan literasi dan numersasi di sekolah; 2) kegiatan pengabdian memberi dampak peningkatan pemahaman guru tentang program penguatan literasi dan numersasi di sekolah. Dengan demikian, guru di sekolah dasar perlu secara berkelanjutan mengintegrasikan kegiatan literasi dan numerasi dalam pembelajaran dan budaya sekolah.

Abstract

Abstract: Implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka in Mathematics Learning at Elementary Schools. Objectives: This study aims to examine the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka in enhancing the potential of mathematics learning in elementary schools in Kebumen Regency. Methods: The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. Participants of this study were teachers and principals in 5 elementary schools recruited through purposive sampling techniques. Data were garnered through observation, interviews, and documentary studies. Interviews were conducted with educators and school principals. The data analysis technique consists of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Findings: The results of the study indicate that: (1) the planning of mathematics learning in Kurikulum Merdeka is prepared by teachers through informal learning and collaboration with peers; (2) the implementation of mathematics learning in Kurikulum Merdeka is still in the stage of adapting various teaching experiences of teachers; (3) the evaluation of mathematics learning in Kurikulum Merdeka already uses diverse evaluation tools and types of questions. Conclusion: This study concludes that the implementation of the mathematics learning involves planning with informal learning methods, adapting the implementation of learning, and various evaluation methods. Keywords: kurikulum merdeka; mathematics; elementary school; qualitative phenomenology.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i1.202440
