Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of compression therapy in varicose veins patients to reduce pain and increase wound healing after surgery. The method used was a systematic review using a checklist of protocols and rules (PRISMA) and a flowchart with the feasibility of studies assessed using the PICOT framework, searches using five databases, Science Direct, CINAHL, Scopus, SAGE, and ProQuest. The results showed that as many as ten articles were obtained discussing the effects of compression therapy in patients with varicose veins, with different discussions in each study bringing positive impacts. In conclusion, compression therapy is considered the most effective conservative treatment for varicose veins, which has been shown to benefit from several research results. Namely, compression improves the healing of varicose veins compared to no reduction. Still, compression therapy has not been proven to provide long-term effects—benefits for postoperative varicose veins patients to return to normal activities. Abstract

Cystitis is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae that, if left untreated, causes lasting impairment, worsens the patient's psychological health, and even reduces productivity. The importance of health and the willingness to adhere to a treatment plan are heavily influenced by the family, who are the patient's closest relatives. Smartphones are a communication and information source that are readily available to society in the age of digitization because of its effectiveness in terms of time, energy, and cost. Proof is still required for the development of this application. An exploratory design and two-stage RD methodologies are used in the study. The examination of patient compliance with therapy and the support of their families during the first stage of application prototype. Evaluation using purposive sampling techniques in 20 patients. The second stage of socialization and application eligibility testing in 10 patients Data collection using questionnaire. Data analysis is done descriptively and analytically. The results of the study showed relatively good family support (50%) and low patient medication adherence (80%). At the development stage, the app produces menus for patients and families: education, checking records, calendars, and consultations. The test results of the application have received good acceptance from users. The development of the medication reminder application can be used as a medium to help the cyst patient and their family complete the treatment program received by the patient.

Abstract

Abstract

Self-care management is a process that does not only develop over time but evolves along with the experience of the type of illness. Successful self-management of diabetes mellitus depends on self-care motivation and self-awareness, specifically designed to control symptoms and avoid complications. This systematic review uses telehealth intervention and smartphone-based applications for diabetes mellitus patients with randomized control trial, qualitative, and cross-sectional studies obtained from six databases. This review included inclusion and exclusion criteria established using population, intervention, comparison, outcomes and study (PICOS) framework, and then data were extracted, reviewed, and assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) tool. Seventeen selected articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria passed the selection through the selection process shown in the flow chart, which all research results show an impact on self-care management. The use of technology especially the applications, is very influential and effective in increasing knowledge and self-care management of diabetes mellitus patients. Besides that, it can also save operational costs in providing interventions for people with diabetes mellitus, but further research is needed to look at the sustainability of structured educational applications on health outcomes.

Abstract

The inability to control themselves causes adolescents to have low self- regulation and causes engage in risky sexual behavior which can cause serious problems such as sexually transmitted diseases, disability, and death. This study aims to develop a self-regulation model based on the theory of planned behavior to prevent risky sexual behavior in adolescents. Explanatory observation with a cross-sectional approach to 140 adolescents in four high schools/vocational schools selected using a convinience sampling. Data collection used questionnaires, focus group discussion (FGD), and expert discussions. Data analysis using partial least square. The development of a self-regulation model based on the theory of planned behavior toward preventing risky sexual behavior in adolescents has the best path, namely the path from background factors (X1) to subjective norms (X3) to personal regulation (X6) and behavioral self-regulation (Y1). The direct effect shows that intention (X4) has a direct effect on self-regulation (Y1). Intention is an important domain for forming a behavior through attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioral control so that self-regulation will be formed to prevent risky sexual behavior in adolescents. Adolescents should be given the training to improve self-regulation to be able to take action to prevent risky sexual behavior.

Abstract

Introduction: Cognitive decline in older adults is a common challenge that affects their independence and well-being. Virtual-based reminiscence therapy (VBR) is a versatile approach that may enhance memory and cognitive function by revisiting past experiences through digital platforms. This method has the potential to yield better outcomes compared to conventional methods. The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of virtual reality (VR) in reminiscence therapy for improving cognitive function among older adults. Method: A systematic literature review was conducted across five journal databases: Cochrane, ProQuest, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. The screening and selection process adhered to PRISMA 2020 guidelines, and article bias was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) screening instrument. A narrative analysis was presented to examine the impact of VBR on cognitive function in older adults. Results: This review identified five articles that met the predefined inclusion criteria. The total number of respondents was 250, with an age range from 65.54 to 86.05 years. The cognitive function measurement tools used in the five articles included the Saint Louis University Mental Status (SLUMS) ratings, the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), the Cognitive Assessment Screening Instrument (CASI), and the Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination III (ACE-III). Conclusion: VR-based reminiscence therapy shows promising potential for enhancing cognitive function among older adults. However, further adaptations are required to accommodate the physical capabilities of older adults in integrating technology into therapeutic practices.

Abstract

People living with HIV (PLWH) experience higher psychological distress than the general population. Interventions to improve PLWH’s psychological condition need to be adjusted to the their age as each age group’s cognitive abilities are different. This systematic review aims to demonstrate age group-based interventions to improve psychological outcomes in PLWH. A search on articles (2014-2022) focused on experimental studies was conducted on Scopus, SAGE Journal, Science Direct, and PubMed. The searched articles tested interventions to improve psychological outcomes in PLWH and were published in English. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) guidelines were used to assess their eligibility, and PRISMA diagram was used to compile the results of the search. Fifteen studies that matched the inclusion criteria were obtained, and they had experimental study designs. Several types of interventions were identified from the obtained literature. These interventions were designed according to their research subjects, and had been proven to have a significant effect on improving psychosocial conditions and quality of life in PLWH. Further research about age group-based interventions to improve psychological outcomes in PLWH is necessarily suggested. Future research is expected to be able to design interventions that focus on building resilience in individuals. The resilience is to make individuals manage their stress optimally. This may improve not only their psychosocial status but also their adherence to treatment and quality of life.
