Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to describe the level of front roll skills among fifth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah Jenggotan, Andong, Boyolali Regency. A quantitative descriptive design with a survey method was employed, involving all 20 students as research participants through total sampling. Data were collected using a front roll practical test assessing three aspects: starting position, movement execution, and finishing position, and were analyzed descriptively using mean and standard deviation. The results showed a mean score of 6.70 (SD = 1.53), indicating that students’ front roll skills were generally in the low to moderate category. These findings suggest that students have not yet mastered the front roll skills optimally, highlighting the need for more structured and effective floor gymnastics instruction in physical education learning

Abstract

This study aims to explore the pros and cons of the discourse on the implementation of the latest pencak silat regulations passed by PERSILAT in 2021. The research method used was a mixed approach with a sequential exploratory model, beginning with qualitative analysis through documentation of public comments on social media, followed by a quantitative survey of administrators, coaches, athletes, and academics focused on pencak silat. The results indicate that the majority of respondents disapproved of the new rules. They argued that the rules failed to meet the expectations of practitioners, imitated other martial arts systems and risked diminishing the cultural uniqueness of pencak silat. When considering the pros and cons, this study revealed that those in favour of the new rules appreciated the efforts to modernise and internationalise pencak silat, particularly through technological integration, such as the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system. Meanwhile, the contra group argued that the new regulations made the competition more complex and unsafe, and detached it from its traditional identity. Quantitatively, 83.4% of respondents favoured the old 2013 rules, while only 16.6% supported the new ones, emphasising a strong preference for preserving the sport's originality. These findings highlight the importance of a thorough review and stakeholder engagement before the new regulations are implemented more widely, particularly in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between arm muscle strength and passing accuracy in the Kebumen women's rugby team. The background of this study is the importance of upper-body muscle strength as a physiological component that supports basic technical skills in rugby. Practical passing skills require a combination of upper body strength, coordination, and stability to produce precise ball direction and speed. The research used a quantitative, correlational design. The sample consisted of twelve female athletes who actively participated in training and competitions. Data were collected through arm muscle strength tests and passing accuracy tests designed according to rugby game standards. Data analysis included validity, reliability, and correlation tests to assess relationships among variables. The results showed a significant positive relationship between arm muscle strength and passing accuracy, indicating that increased arm muscle strength directly contributes to the effectiveness of basic techniques in the game. This study confirms that upper-body muscle-strengthening training programs should be integrated with passing technique training to optimize coaching outcomes. These findings provide practical implications for coaches in designing evidence-based training programs and expand theoretical understanding of the relationship between physiological factors and technical performance in Indonesian women's rugby. Kata Kunci: accuracy, passing, rugby

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effects of resistance band training on the execution speed of the gyaku-tsuki strike among karate athletes from the FORKI Dojo in Surakarta. A quantitative approach was adopted, employing a quasi-experimental design in the form of a one-group pretest-posttest study. The sample population consisted of 13 athletes recruited as the main participants. The intervention was carried out through a resistance band training programme over six weeks, with three sessions per week. Data were measured via gyaku-tsuki punch speed tests at the initial (pre-test) and final (post-test) stages. Descriptive analysis indicated a pre-test mean of 44.31 (standard deviation 5.808), which subsequently increased to 71.00 (standard deviation 8.593) at the post-test. A hypothesis test using a paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), concluding that there is a significant effect of resistance band training on the improvement of gyaku-tsuki strike speed. Therefore, resistance band training is recommended as an effective supplementary training strategy to optimise the striking performance of karate athletes.

Abstract

The fatigue experienced by junior high school (SMP) students while doing activities for a moment indicates that the students are not fit. Therefore, improving fitness to do more activities at a productive age is necessary. The purpose of this research was to determine the physical fitness profile of students in terms of sports activities. The quantitative description was the method of this research. The data collection technique used was the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test. The results showed that the fitness level of SMP Sekolah Alam Indonesia students was 0% in the excellent and good category, 31 percent in the medium category, 36 percent in the low category, and 33 percent in the poor category. The calculation obtained a significance value of more than 0.05, meaning the sample variance was normal. Thus, the hypothesis that the variance of the existing variables was the same was accepted. To determine whether there was a difference between sports activities and the fitness profile of SMP SAI students, the researchers performed the independent sample t-test on the data taken from the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test. The obtained significance value was 0.000 (less than 0.05). Therefore, it can be interpreted that there was a significant difference between the Fitness Profile of SMP SAI students and sports activities. In conclusion, the 8th-grade students of the school have not yet reached the good and excellent categories. The more active students are in exercising, the better their physical fitness level will be.
