Abstract

This research examines the utilization of solar panels as an effort to optimize solar energy in the control systems and projections of the electrical grid at substations to support the transition to renewable energy in Indonesia. Dependence on fossil fuels, which causes high carbon emissions, and Indonesia's commitment to the Paris Agreement are the main backgrounds for this innovation. The system is designed using two 12 V solar cells connected in series to produce a 24 Vdc output, and is equipped with an automatic switching mechanism between the supply from the solar panels and National Power Plant (PLN). Observations over the course of one month showed an increase in current from 0.78 A to 1.55 A and power from 18.3 W to 38.2 W, indicating an improvement in energy conversion efficiency. However, the storage capacity significantly decreased from 35.56 Ah to 7.78 Ah, due to shorter charging durations and fluctuations in ambient temperature. This system has the potential to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, support sustainable electrification, and provide environmentally friendly electricity distribution solutions in areas not yet reached by conventional networks. Further development is needed in the energy storage aspect to enhance the overall performance of the system.

Abstract

This community engagement aims to improve skills in batik design through digital applications. Islamic boarding school or also known as pesantren is Indonesia’s oldest religious educational institution. Along with rapid industry advancements, such a school is expected to follow the development by creating innovations with commercial and representative value. Based on this motivation, a training program on design software and blog-based online publishing tools for beginners is given to the students in Babussalam Pesantren, Jombang Regency, Indonesia. The idea of batik is discussed in this article as a part of the entrepreneurial knowledge and skill at the pesantren, preparing the students for future entrepreneurship. This community project consists of two kinds of training—(1) designing batik with an innovative and contemporary pattern using a software application such as CorelDRAW and (2) designing and commercializing the batik product using free publishing online platforms such as Blogger or Blogspot, as the widely known domain. The participants are 28 high school students aged 16–18 years old, including 14 male and 14 female students. To observe the process of learning, pre- and post-questionnaires were conducted. The results show that 84% and 89% of students have not used CorelDRAW and blog-based media before, respectively. However, after the training, the students show enthusiasm, with 73% expressing interest and 63% wanting to deepen their knowledge of CorelDRAW design. Furthermore, 27% of students show interest in blog design and 37% want to learn further. Hopefully, with this entrepreneurship training, pesantren students are ready and confidently enter the business community.

Abstract

Abstract This aquaponics training was carried out with the aim of improving community skills in aquaponics cultivation as an implementation of the green economy (SDG's 8) in Pucangsewu Village, Gubeng District, Surabaya, by involving participants from Karang Taruna and PKK mothers (35 peoples). The training method includes theoretical explanations regarding the concept of aquaponics, demonstrations of making aquaponics systems, and direct practice by participants. The results of this training showed that participants gained a good understanding of the basic principles of aquaponics and were able to make a simple aquaponics system independently from a bucket. In addition, this activity also increased public awareness of the importance of utilizing narrow land for environmentally friendly urban farming. Keywords: aquaponics; green economy; training; urban farming.

Abstract

Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) is a two-dimensional carbon material that has been widely developed as a functional filler in polymer-based thin films due to its high surface area, good electrical conductivity, and adequate interface compatibility. This article presents a literature review on the synthesis of rGO and its use as thin films with various polymer matrices, namely polyaniline (PANi), poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF), poly(vinylidene fluoride–trifluoroethylene) [P(VDF-TrFE)], and chitosan. The review was conducted on open access scientific articles discussing rGO synthesis methods, thin film fabrication techniques, and structural, morphological, thermal, and electrical characterization of composite materials. The results of the study show that rGO can improve the functional performance of polymer thin films through the formation of conductive networks, strengthening of interface interactions, and crystal nucleation effects. In the PANi matrix, rGO increases electrical conductivity and stability, while in PVDF and P(VDF-TrFE), rGO promotes the formation of electroactive crystalline phases that enhance piezoelectric properties. Meanwhile, in chitosan, strong interfacial interactions improve electrochemical response and the potential for environmentally friendly sensor applications.
