Abstract

Poverty in Indonesia is a problem that needs special attention by the government. Poverty is due to the high level of inequality, unequal distribution of income, and the number of poor people, which continue to increase. Therefore, it can affect society’s economy. This research aims to identify incongruities between endogenous and exogenous variables that influence poverty levels in Indonesia. By applying a descriptive quantitative analysis approach for 2013-2022 in the form of secondary data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency, the research model uses dynamic panel data regression analysis based on the Generalized Method Of Moment method (GMM). The method was developed by Arellano-Bond, of which the two best models are First-Difference GMM and System GMM, which create an impartial, consistent, and efficient model for determining short-term ang long-term effects. The research results show that HDI has a significant negative impact on short-term and long-term relationships with poverty levels, resulting in low human resources. Exports have a significant negative impact on poverty levels in the short and long term. This means that if exports increase, poverty levels can be reduced. Imports have a significant positive impact on short-term and long-term with poverty levels. In import activities, the higher the price increases, the more people's purchasing power decreases. The results are declared to have a significant effect because the p-value is significance of level 5% or 0.05. It is expected that the research will become reference material for macroeconomic development and further research regarding poverty alleviation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the model of Indonesia's economic growth in 2013-2022 with dynamic panel data through the SYS-GMM and FD-GMM approaches, so that the variables that influence short-term and long-term economic growth can be identified. The research method used is quantitative descriptive analysis. The data used comes from the Central Statistics Agency of 34 provinces in Indonesia 2013-2022. This study found that economic growth was significantly positively influenced by the variables of inflation, foreign investment, and household consumption. Economic growth is significantly negatively affected by domestic investment variables, regional minimum wages, and open unemployment rates. Inflation, foreign investment, and household consumption have short-term impacts on economic growth, while domestic investment, regional minimum wages, and the open unemployment rate have long-term impacts on economic growth. Research finds economic growth is influenced by the previous year. The policy implication is that the government focuses on factors that increase economic growth

Abstract

Research Originality: This study examines the short-term and long-term relationships between macroeconomic variables and income inequality, adopting a broader approach than previous research, which has primarily focused on partial and simultaneous influences on income inequality.Research Objectives: This study aims to analyze the dynamic variables that affect income inequality in Indonesia.Research Methods: This study uses panel data from 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2015 to 2023 and employs the Generalized Method of Moments Arellano Bond (GMM-AB) approach. This method was selected to address endogeneity and heteroscedasticity issues commonly encountered in panel data analysis.Empirical Results: The findings reveal that the Indonesian Democracy Index and the Gender Inequality Index significantly impact income inequality. Meanwhile, the ICT Development Index and the Human Development Index also exhibit significant influences. These results reinforce the argument that enhancing access to education and promoting gender equality are essential strategies for reducing income inequality.Implications: The study provides valuable insights for policymakers, emphasizing the need to strengthen democratic institutions and empower women through improved access to education and economic opportunities as key measures to mitigate income inequality.JEL Classification: D63, J16, O15, O32, P16How to Cite:Syafitri, A.
