Abstract

In this Final Project report, a little is explained about the parts of power steering and how to make the vehicle comfortable, especially when the vehicle turns. Stability and comfort in driving a vehicle is very important and desirable for all motorists, how it can be obtained. Power steering makes the driver feel light in controlling his vehicle especially when turning. So power steering is one of the things that is very important to get driving comfort. Therefore maintenance of the power steering is also important to be able to help realize stability and comfort in driving. In addition to the care also considered in the use of spare parts must be in accordance with the standards used in the vehicle

Abstract

Coconut shell charcoal is a by-product waste from coconut farming which is very abundant and its use has not been optimally applied other than being limited to burning it for boiler energy as a heater and other parts of it being used as a fuel source for cooking. As raw materials for making wooden boats for fishermen in Indonesia become increasingly scarce, efforts are needed to find replacement materials in the supply process. However, another very urgent factor is that it is absolutely necessary to develop environmentally friendly composites to replace synthetic composites which are difficult to decompose. However, composite materials made from natural fibers still have many weaknesses, including low mechanical strength, therefore applications in the engineering field are still under study and development. Some of the weaknesses of natural fiber composite materials, which need to be studied, include their brittle nature and easy cracking. One of the things carried out in this research is a synthetic material derived from unsaturated polyester reinforced with natural fibers from coconut shell charcoal particles which is used to reduce the percentage of synthetic material from polyester which can form a composite that is easily decomposed. From the research, the mechanical strength obtained with a polyester mixture matrix reinforced with coconut shell charcoal fibers obtained crack resistance values with a large critical stress intensity factor based on ASTM D 5405 by varying the composition of the shell charcoal fiber mixture from: 0%, 10%, 20%, to 30%. From the test results, the largest critical stress intensity factor at K_1c= 1.624 (MPa/m1/2) occurred in 20% coconut shell charcoal fiber.

Abstract

This study aims to design an efficient boat-pulling machine to support traditional fishermen at Pasie Katapiang Beach, Padang Pariaman. The research method employed is the design of the tool based on the principles of design engineering, involving a systematic process in creating a machine that can assist fishermen in the boat docking process more efficiently. Through calculations and planning, it was found that the force required to pull the fishermen's boat is 6,522.88 N, using a shaft made of ST 37 material with a diameter of 22.413 mm. The rotations generated on the transmission shaft are 2000 rpm, while on the wheel and drum shafts are 750 rpm and 500 rpm, respectively. The selection of a slip clutch with 2 bolts on the transmission shaft and the use of pillow block bearing ucp 206 ass 30 with specified bearing life estimates have been considered in the machine design. Practical test results indicate that the time required to reel or pull the boat is 0.98 minutes. In this research, the design of the boat-pulling machine meets operational needs. It has the potential to positively contribute to improving the work efficiency and welfare of traditional fishermen in the field

Abstract

Perancangan Turbin Crossflow untuk Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Mikro Hidro di Padayo Indarung Padang merupakan aplikasi praktis dari pengetahuan yang diperoleh selama studi akademik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah merancang turbin crossflow yang sesuai dengan parameter awal yang diperoleh dari survei lapangan. Turbin crossflow berfungsi mengkonversi energi potensial air menjadi energi mekanik yang menggerakkan turbin, kemudian diubah menjadi energi listrik. Berdasarkan data awal perancangan, dengan debit air 0,04 m3/s dan ketinggian air 5 m, dimensi turbin yang didapatkan adalah diameter luar runner 0,3 m, lebar runner 0,15 m, diameter dalam runner 0,2 m, dengan 18 sudu dan jari-jari kelengkungan sudu 48,13 mm. Putaran yang dihasilkan turbin adalah 296,72 rpm. Poros runner memiliki diameter Ø34 mm dan panjang 470 mm. Untuk mentransmisikan daya dari turbin ke generator, digunakan dua buah puli dengan diameter Ø16 inchi dan Ø3 inchi, serta 2 sabuk V type A79. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah perancangan turbin crossflow berdasarkan parameter hidrokinetik dan dimensi yang disesuaikan dengan karakteristik aliran air yang tersedia di lokasi penelitian. Penelitian ini penting karena memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan teknologi energi terbarukan dengan memanfaatkan sumber daya air secara efisien dan ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study to analyze the service level, satisfaction and loyalty of Sariringgung Beach visitors.Covarian based approach to estimatemaximum likelihood method in the service levelto the satisfaction and loyalty of visitorstourism area of Sariringgung Beach is used. The results of this study indicate that the direct effect of service level to satisfaction is 77%, service level to loyalty is 75%. Whereas the indirect effect of service level on loyalty through satisfaction is 38,5%. Then the total effect of service level on customer loyalty through satisfaction is 73,5%.

Abstract

Student interest and decision making to choose a place to continue their education is very important to be understood by every university, so it is necessary to make efforts to always learn about the needs and desires of prospective students. This study aims to determine the role of location and price on student decisions in choosing STIE Mahaputra Riau with interest as an intervening variable. The variables used in this study were location and price as independent variables, decision as the dependent variable, and interest as intervening variables.The data source in this study is primary data, where the data collection method uses a questionnaire method distributed in STIE Mahaputra Riau. The number of respondents in this study was 220 people who were determined by proportional random sampling. The data analysis technique used is path analysis. The results showed that location and price partially had a positive and significant effect on decisions, location and price partially had a positive and significant effect on interest, location and price had a positive and significant effect on decisions through interest as an intervening variable, interest had a positive and significant effect on decisions

Abstract

Orchid is an ornamental plant commodity that has an important meaning in international trade. Until now, orchids are still the center of attention of farmers and lovers of ornamental plants, because of their bright potential as cut flowers and potted plants. The popular and widespread type of orchid is Cattleya sp. The Cattleya orchid is also called the queen of orchids because of its colorful flowers. Cattleya sp. orchids take a long time to propagate by seed, about 4 to 7 years, so other methods are needed to deal with them. Tissue culture is a method for isolating plant parts such as cells, tissues or organs, and cultivating them in an aseptic environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal interaction of growth regulators indole acetic acid (IAA), benzyl amino purine (BAP), and their interactions with the root induction of Cattleya sp. Cytokinins interact with auxin in determining the direction of cell differentiation. In this research method, differences in concentrations of indole acetic acid (IAA: 0, 2, 4, 6 ppm) and concentrations of benzyl amino purine (BAP: 0, 0, 5, 1 ppm) were carried out. Parameters observed were the number of roots and root length. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using ANOVA. The highest number of roots was obtained in the treatment medium containing 0.5 ppm BAP and 6 ppm IAA, which was 6.33. The highest root length was found in the B0I4 treatment (BAP 0 + IAA 4 ppm). The results of the analysis of the interaction variance between the IAA treatment and the BAP treatment were 0.005, meaning that there was a significant effect of the combination of IAA and BAP on the leaf length of Cattleya sp.

Abstract

 Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk Untuk mendapatkan teknik sterilisasi yang terbaik untuk eksplan batang anggrek Cattleya sp. muda. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Kultur Jaringan YAHDI Perum Pelabuhan Jl. Lambung No. 8 Tanah 600 Medan Marelan. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental laboratorium dalam mencobakan beberapa teknik sterilisasi. Untuk mengetahui teknik sterilisasi yang tepat, penelitian ini menggunakan eksplan lapang anggrek Cattleya Sp. dengan jenis pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif. Data dianalisis dan ditabulasi menggunakan parameter penelitian hari terkontaminasi, persentase eksplan yang terkontaminasi, persentase eksplan browning, persentase eksplan yang membengkak, persentase eksplan yang membentuk bakal tunas dan persentase eksplan hidup. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 2 teknik sterilisasi yang optimal dalam sterilisasi eksplan lapang Anggrek Cattleya Sp. yaitu teknik sterilisasi 2 dan 4. Teknik sterilisasi 2 menggunakan zat sterilan deterjen, akuades steril, Tween-20, benomil 50%, agrimicin, NaOCl 15% 10% dan alcohol 70% kemudian teknik sterilisasi 4 dengan zat sterilan Clorox 1,05%, HgCl 0,02% dan akuades steril merupakan teknik sterilisasi yang tersebut. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan rendahnya tingkat kontaminasi eksplan dan tampaknya spot-spot hijau pada eksplan dimana eksplan akan mengalami pertumbuhan tunas. Faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan kontaminasi pada eksplan Anggrek Cattleya Sp. adalah kurangnya kehati-hatian praktikan pada saat melakukan sterilisasi eksplan lapang, kontaminasi endogenus yang tinggi dan penggunaan zat steril yang kurang tepat

Abstract

Menangkap ikan adalah mata pencarian yang ditekuni setiap hari oleh masyarakat pesisir pantai Katapiang Padang Pariaman Sumbar. Biasanya, nelayan menangkap ikan di tengah laut dan hasil tangkapan dibawa dengan perahu kedarat. Setelah perahu sampai dibibir pantai kemudian perahu yang berisi hasil tangkapan ikan di tarik ke darat bersama sama oleh kelompok nelayan secara manual menggunakan tenaga manusia. Proses tersebut menurut nelayan tidak efektif dan meminimalkan hasil tangkapan karena harus dibagi ke anggota penarik. Adapun tersedia alat penarik sederhana tetapi tidak layak pakai karena tidak terawat dengan baik. Tujuan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini adalah mengedukasi masyarakat tentang alat bantu penarik perahu melalui pelatihan singkat tentang alat penarik perahu, cara operasi dan perawatannya supaya alat dapat berfungsi dengan baik dan memiliki umur pakai yang lama. Metoda yang digunakan adalah metoda pelatihan langsung ke kelompok Nelayan mitra. Hasil yang didapat setelah pelatihan ini anggota kelompok nelayan mampu mengoperasikan alat penarik kapal dan mampu melakukan perawatan harian pada alat penarik perahu. Kata kunci: penarik perahu nelayan, alat bantu tarik, pelatihan pengoperasian mesin, nelayan, tangkapan ikan ABSTRACT Fishing is the daily livelihood of the coastal community in Katapiang, Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra. Typically, fishermen catch fish in the open sea and bring their catch to shore by boat. Once the boat reaches the beach, the fishermen manually pull the boat, filled with their catch, to shore together as a group. This manual process is considered inefficient by the fishermen, as it reduces their catch since it has to be divided among the pullers. Although there is a simple pulling device available, it is not in usable condition due to poor maintenance. The aim of this community service is to educate the community about the boat pulling device through a brief training session on its operation and maintenance, ensuring the device functions properly and has a longer lifespan. The method used is direct training for the partner fishermen group. The outcome of this training is that members of the fishermen group are able to operate the boat pulling device and perform daily maintenance on it. Abstract

In previous studies, hybrid crash boxes have been developed because it show better energy absorption characteristics. Circular hybrid crash box combine the advantages of low-density of composite with stable deformation of metal provide a potential energy absorption device. Tests were carried out experimentally and iumerically under frontal load. This study aims to determine the energy absorption characteristics of two different configuration of hybrid material compositions using Aluminum Alloy 6063 and T300-epoxy Carbon Fiber composites. Present two typical configurational schemes, namely Al-Ko (i.e. a metal outer tube internally filled with an inner carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) tube) and Ko-Al (i.e. an outer composite tube internally filled with an inner metal tube). Composite layups arrangement with fiber orientation direction [0,90]10. First, the simulation models were developed and validated by comparing the damage modes and crashworthiness indictors with the dedicated experimental study. Second, the interactive effects of different configuration hybrid tubes were investigated by analyzing the discrepancies in the deformation pattern and internal energy absorption of each material through the validated simulation models. The test results show that the greatest energy absorption occurs in the Al-Ko model of 7401.4 J. This hybrid crash box has an energy absorption value of 11% greater compared to the sum of the energy absorption of aluminum tubes (3746.5 J) and composite tubes (2923.4 J).
