Abstract

Latar Belakang: Kesehatan lansia mempunyai pengaruh besar terhadap perkembangan Indonesia karena pertumbuhan penduduk Indonesia yang mempunyai struktur aging population. Salah satu usaha yang dapat dilakukan untuk menjaga kesehatan lansia dengan tujuan menciptakan lansia yang produktif dapat dilakukan dengan melakukan penilaian beberapa parameter kesehatan yang mudah dipahami seperti IMT, lingkar perut dan kadar glukosa darah.Objektif: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara IMT dan lingkar perut dengan hasil skrining kadar glukosa darah sewaktu pada pra lansia dan lansia di Nagari Sumanik tahun 2021.Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik dengan desain penelitian cross sectional. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Januari – Desember 2022. Data penelitian ini berasal dari data sekunder hasil pengabdian masyarakat pada bulan Oktober 2021 dengan besar sampel 40 orang pra lansia dan lansia. Analisis bivariat menggunakan uji Spearman Rank.Hasil: Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan rerata IMT adalah 26,93±5,168 kg/m2. Rerata lingkar perut yaitu 97±12,3. Rerata hasil skrining kadar glukosa darah sewaktu adalah 140±78,775 mg/dl. Hasil uji statistik ditemukan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara IMT dengan hasil skrining kadar glukosa darah sewaktu (p = 0,738) dan r-correlation 0,054. Uji statistik lingkar perut dengan hasil skrining kadar glukosa darah sewaktu menunjukan tidak terdapat hubungan (p = 0,765) dan r-correlation 0,048.Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan antara IMT dan lingkar perut dengan hasil skrining kadar glukosa darah sewaktu dengan korelasi sangat lemah. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek ekstrak daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum) terhadap kadar LDL pada tikus (Rattus Norvegicus) model aterosklerosis. Desain yang digunakan adalah post-test only control group design dengan 30 ekor tikus jantan yang dibagi menjadi lima kelompok: kontrol negatif (K-), kontrol positif (K+), kontrol statin (KS), perlakuan I (P1; 100 mg/kgBB ekstrak daun kemangi), dan perlakuan II (P2; 200 mg/kgBB). Induksi aterosklerosis dilakukan melalui ligasi parsial arteri karotis dan pemberian diet tinggi lemak selama 7 hari. Pemberian simvastatin dan ekstrak kemangi dilakukan secara oral selama 7 hari. Kadar LDL diukur menggunakan metode CHOD-PAP dengan alat Microlab 300. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan perbedaan bermakna kadar LDL antara kelompok K-, KS, dan P2 dibandingkan dengan kelompok K+ (p<0,05). Rerata kadar LDL tertinggi ditemukan pada kelompok K+ (64,56 mg/dL) dan terendah pada kelompok KS (31,62 mg/dL). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun kemangi, khususnya dosis 200 mg/kgBB, berpotensi menurunkan kadar LDL pada tikus model aterosklerosis.

Abstract

Ekstrak akar kayu kuning (Arcangelisia flava Merr.) diketahui bisa memperlambat stres oksidatif dan menurunkan kadar MDA serum. Jenis studi ini yakni true experimental research dengan desain post test only control group dengan 25 ekor mencit yang dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok. Hasil studi menunjukkan rerata kadar MDA serum mencit pada kelompok K- sebesar 2,73 ± 0,33 nmol/ml, K+ sebesar 4,12 ± 0,26 nmol/ml, P1 sebesar 3,47 ± 0,26 nmol/ml, P2 sebesar 3,22 ± 0,29 nmol/ml dan P3 sebesar 3,05 ± 0,28 nmol/ml. Uji One Way ANOVA menghasilkan nilai p sebesar 0,000 (p kurang dari 0,05), hal ini dapat diartikan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pemberian ekstrak akar kayu kuning terhadap kadar MDA serum. Hasil studi ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak akar kayu kuning pada dosis 250 mg/kgBB, 500 mg/kgBB, dan 750 mg/kgBB mampu menurunkan kadar MDA dalam serum.

Abstract

Objective: To determine the effect of Wharton's Jelly (MSC-WJ) mesenchymal stem cells on the activity of the catalase enzyme in hyperglycemic Wistar rats. Methods: This study used 21 male Wistar rats aged 2-3 months with a body weight of 200-300 grams according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Mice were divided into 3 groups: negative control (K-), positive control (K+), and treatment (P). Group K- was only given food and drink without being given treatment. The K+ group was injected intraperitoneally with alloxan at a dose of 100 mg/kg BW so that the rats became hyperglycemic. Group P was given an alloxan injection and left for a week, then given MSC-WJ 3x106 cells through the tail vein and left for four weeks. After four weeks, all groups had their blood taken to examine the catalase enzyme. Result: Mean of catalase activity enzyme in the K-, K+, and P groups were 4.22 ± 0.27 units/mg, 2.39 ± 0.19 units/mg, and 3.93 ± 0.45 units /mg, respectively. Conclusion: This shows that the administration of mesenchymal stem cells Wharton's Jelly (MSC-WJ) has an effect on increasing the serum catalase enzyme activity of Wistar rats with hyperglycemia models.

Abstract

Background: Beta thalassemia major is a genetic blood disorder inherited by parents thalassemia traits (carrier) characterized by abnormal hemoglobin formation. Abnormalities during the process of hemoglobin formation cause gene changes or mutations that cause symptoms of severe anemia which has a long-term clinical impact on patients. High performance liquid chromatography can be used to determine the description of abnormal hemoglobin analysis, thus suspected diagnosis of thalassemia β major can be established by the clinician as a definitive diagnosis to enhance a more comprehensive diagnosis. Primary theraphy of beta thalassemia major is blood transfusion to support the quality of life regularly throughout the patient's life, transfusion of patients requires measurements such as pre-transfusion hemoglobin levels.  Objective: This study aims to determine the description of the results of the analysis of hemoglobin patients with suspected thalassemia beta major at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. Methods: This study used a cross sectional design.  The sampling technique uses total sampling with a total sample of 19 people from 1-35 years old. Patient data was from the suspected diagnosis of medical records established by clinicians at Dr. M. Djamil Hospital Padang. This data was analyzed univariately. Results: The results of this study indicated is mostly female with an average age of 13,74 years (SD ±12.1). This study resulted in a low pretransfusion hemoglobin average of 6.20 g/dL. The results of hemoglobin analysis for beta thalassemia major with average HbA (48,1%), HbA2 (27,3%) and HbF (24,5%). Conclusion: The results of the examination hemoglobin analysis on the HPLC method had results that did not compatible predictions of the suspected diagnosis of beta thalassemia major from the clinician

Abstract

Background : Tear film is a fluid-filled layer that protects the eyes from the external environment. This layer consists of three layers, namely lipid, aqueous and mucin. Tear film stability is seen as one of the main characteristics of eye health. failure to maintain balance Tear film can cause dry eyes. One of the causes of dry eyes is an imbalance of steroid sex hormones such as estrogen, progesterone and androgens. These hormones have mRNA receptors on the surface tissues of the eye that are susceptible to hormonal contraceptives. Objective : This literature study aims to explore various original research literature on the relationship between the use of hormonal contraceptives and the stability of Tear film.  Methods : Narrative reviews of literature searched through the Pubmed and Google Scholar databases, then selected based on established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results : There are 6 literatures with 444 women of childbearing age with an age range of 20-45 years who use the TBUT and Schirmer examinations. Conclusion : There is no relationship between the use of hormonal contraceptives and the stability of tear film
