Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate a SETS (Science, environment, technology) based-learning approach for junior high school students on how well SETS based-learning improves thinking skill on the waste management. This study was conducted to 20 students of 7th grade. Data collection were employed by class observation (carried out pre and post test), essay analysis (based on several cognitive indicators such as analyze, evaluate, and create), and learning activities regarding environmental issues. The results showed that SETS based-learning could positively improve students critical thinking in terms of learning process and performance in creativity, motivation, critical thinking. If the number of subjects is increase, SETS based-learning strategy could be more challenging.

Abstract

Etnoekologi adalah pendekatan yang mengeksplorasi hubungan antara pikiran dan perilaku manusia dengan mitos, budaya, legenda atau kebiasaan yang berkembang di daerah tersebut, sebagai bentuk hubungan masyarakat dengan lingkungan. Pembelajaran berbasis etnoekologi adalah salah satu langkah untuk memenuhi tuntutan kurikulum 2013. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan efektivitas buku teks berbasis etnoekologi pada bahan daur ulang lingkungan/perubahan iklim dan pembuangan limbah untuk mengajarkan keterampilan berpikir kritis kepada siswa kelas X. Buku tek tersebut diuji coba dengan melibatkan 30 siswa di SMA Kalidawir 1. Data penelitian dianalisis secara kualitatif. Berdasarkan proses pembelajaran, buku teks yang dinyatakan secara efektif dievaluasi oleh prestasi siswa yang bekerja pada karakteristik etnoekologis, hasil belajar, 87,22% siswa dinyatakan lengkap dan 93,86% siswa merespons positif.Kata kunci: etnoekologi, keefektifan, perubahan lingkungan, iklim, dan daur ulang limbah Ethnoecology is an approach that explores the relationship between human thoughts and behavior with myths, cultures, legends or habits that develop in the area, as a form of community relations with the environment. Ethnoecology-based learning is one step to meet the demands of the 2013 curriculum. This study aims to illustrate the effectiveness of ethnoecology-based textbooks on environmental recycling/climate change materials and waste disposal to teach critical thinking skills to class X students. The tech book was tested with involved 30 students at Kalidawir High School 1. The research data were analyzed qualitatively. Based on the learning process, textbooks that are declared effectively evaluated by the achievements of students working on ethnoecological characteristics, learning outcomes, 87.22% of students are declared complete and 93.86% of students respond positively.Keywords:  ethnoecology, effectivity, environmental changes, climate, and waste recycling

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are very important to learn because it emphasizes how to invite students to find and build their own knowledge so that students can develop life skills and are ready to solve problems faced in everyday life. Critical thinking can be trained by applying learner-oriented active learning. Today the development of science and technology affects almost all human life in various fields. These developments make it easier for humans to access all information. In the world of education, the use of technology is very helpful for educators in developing learning so that educators can package and present material to be more quality and varied. The evaluative-process biology learning tool based on the conceptual-problem-based learning model that was developed is a directed, planned, and systematic effort to control the level of success of the learning process and can be integrated into a learning model syntax that can facilitate critical thinking learning. The purpose of this research is to produce a product in the form of an evaluative-process biology learning device based on a conceptual problem-based learning model to train students' critical thinking skills. This research is development research with specific targets to be achieved in this research, namely to produce evaluative-process biology learning tools based on valid conceptual-problem-based learning models to train students' critical thinking skills with components; Semester Program Plans (SPP), textbooks, Student Worksheets (SW), textbooks, and Critical Thinking Ability Test (CTAT) instruments to measure students' critical thinking skills. The results showed that all the elements that make up the device have been declared valid. The conclusion from the results of this further research can be the foundation for its implementation in the classroom, which is empirically expected to be effective in training students' critical thinking

Abstract

Pendidikan di masa pandemi Covid-19 dilaksanakan melalui pembelajaran daring. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran daring menjadi dasar semakin meningkatnya teknologi dan inovasi ilmu pengetahuan. Kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi mendorong terciptanya pendidikan abad 21. Literasi sains merupakan salah satu kemampuan melatihkan kecakapan hidup abad 21 melalui pemahaman dan pengaplikasian ilmu pengetahuan yakni mencari sebuah solusi dalam pemecahan masalahan. Kemampuan literasi sains siswa dapat dilatihkan melalui pemberlajaran berbasis model inkuiri terbimbing dengan menggunakan perangkat pembalajaran yang baik. Tujuan artikel ini adalah mendeskripsikan hasil validitas perangkat pembelajaran yang telah dikembangkan untuk melatihkan literasi sains. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan meliputi silabus, RPP, LKPD, dan penilaian literasi sains. Metode penelitian mengacu pada desain pengembangan model Dick and Carey dengan modifikasi sesuai kebutuhan pembelajaran dan pelaksanaan penelitian hanya sampai pada tahap pengembangan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis validitas menggunakan validitas Aiken’s diperoleh bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan menunjukkan hasi yang valid sehingga mampu digunakan untuk melatihkan literasi sains siswa.

Abstract

Problem solving skills are needed by students to solve problems that arise in everyday life. Innovation in learning is needed so that students can achieve the basic competencies and apply 21st-century skills, in the form of interactive, collaborative learning models. One of the innovations is using the Project-Based Learning learning model with the E-book of plant anatomy structures. This study aims to develop an E-book of PjBL-based plant anatomy structures to practice problem-solving skills which are declared valid in terms of theoretical and empirical aspects. The theoretical aspect is viewed from the results of the validity. Empirical aspects in terms of learning outcomes, student responses, and readability. The development model used is 4D. The research was carried out at the UNESA Postgraduate Program in June-August 2020. The target of this research was an online E-book on the structure of plant anatomy based on Project Based Learning which was tested on ten students of Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik senior high school in February 2021. The instruments used were validation sheets, student response sheets, and fry chart sheets. The data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results showed that the PjBL-based E-book of plant anatomical structures was theoretically feasible based on the validation results obtained an categories very valid and empirically feasible based on student learning outcomes (N-gain of moderate categories). Based on this description, a PjBL E-book of plant anatomy structures to train students' problem-solving skills is feasible theoretically and empirically.

Abstract

The research aims to analyze the scientific literacy of senior high school students on fluid dynamics. Research was implemented at SMA Negeri 3 Nganjuk. The population in this research were senior high school students. The sampling technique in this research was random cluster sampling. The sample in this research amounted to 36 students. Three instruments are used in the data collection technique, interviews, scientific literacy tests, and questionnaires. The data analysis used in this research is the percentage of students' scientific literacy achievement in the competency domain. This research shows that students' literacy ability is relatively low. The percentages obtained for each competency are the competence to explain scientific phenomena by 44% in the low category, evaluate and design scientific investigations by 47% in the low category, and interpret scientific data and evidence by 56% in the low category. This research concludes that the scientific literacy of senior high school students on fluid dynamics is in a low category. One of the causes is that the student's ability is only memorizing and not relating various science topics or applying complex concepts to solve problems in their everyday lives. The research implications can provide information related to scientific literacy skills in senior high school students on fluid dynamics according to the competencies that have been presented.

Abstract

In 2021, Unesa PKM Team provided guidance to Bumi Shalawat Progressive High School teachers regarding making competition management and conducting trials on Bumi Shalawat Progressive High School students through internal competitions. Starting from the PKM application letter from the pesantren partner (the principal of SMA Bumi Shalawat) to Unesa, then follow-up activities were carried out and an activity was planned with the title, "PKM Progressive Science and Innovation Empowerment and International Competition Management for Students and Teachers of Bumi Shalawat Progressive High School " The outputs of PKM activities that have been achieved are websites for internal competitions at Bumi Shalawat Progressive High School, scientific articles to be published in national journals, publications in mass media, and videos of PKM activities uploaded on social media. Abstract

This research aimed to describe the teaching materials feasibility of IPA based on scientific approach with guided inquiry learning model. This research had been done in three phases, that are creating the teaching materials, validating and doing  revision, and verifying them at learning activity in class with one group pretest-posttest design. Techniques for collecting data was conducted through questionnaires, validation, observation, and test. Techniques for analyzing data used descriptive qualitative. The result of research showed that (1) the feasibility of teaching materials based on scientific approach with guided inquiry learning model of IPA that consist of syllabus,  lesson plan, student book, student worksheet and  the learning outcome test gained 4.89; 4.72; 4.81; 4.79; and 4.51 respectively that are categorized as valid. (2) The implementation of this lesson plan at two meetings in VII-A and VII-B class is categorized as good with average minimal scores 4.00 and got 94% in minimal percentage of agreement aspect; (3) Working in a group was the most dominant student activity at two meetings at VII-A and VII-B classes with average frequency of two meetings, observed are 19 and 10 times (VII-A class), and 18 and 10 times (VII-B class); (4) The learning outcomes that can be analyzed by calculating classical masteries at the first and second meetings on multiple choice and essay are 95.5%; 100%; 91%; 95% (VII-A class); and 91%; 86%; 91%; and 91% (VII-B class) respectively, and (5) Students gave the positive response to the learning process using teaching materials of IPA based on scientific approach with guided inquiry model with average score to be 3.3 (VII-A class) and 3.4 (VII-B class). Based on the result of the analyzed data, it can be concluded that the teaching materials of IPA based on scientific approach with guided inquiry model which had been developed was feasible to be used. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kelayakan perangkat pembelajaran IPA SMP berbasis pendekatan saintifik dengan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahap, yaitu tahap mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran, tahap validasi dan revisi, dan tahap uji coba dalam pembelajaran di kelas dengan menggunakan rancangan one group pretest-posttest design. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan angket, validasi, pengamatan, dan tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Kelayakan perangkat pembelajaran yang terdiri dari silabus, RPP, buku siswa, LKS, dan tes hasil belajar masing-masing diperoleh hasil 4,89; 4,72; 4,81; 4,79; dan 4,51 dengan kriteria valid. (2) Keterlaksanaan RPP pada dua pertemuan di kelas VII-A dan VII-B mendapatkan kriteria baik dengan skor rata-rata minimal 4,00 dan rata-rata persentase kesepakatan antara dua pengamat minimal 94%; (3) Frekuensi aktivitas siswa yang paling dominan pada dua pertemuan di kelas VII-A dan VII-B adalah bekerja dalam kelompok dengan frekuensi pengamatan rata-rata pada kedua pertemuan berturut-turut 19 dan 10 kali (kelas VII-A), dan 18 dan 10 kali (kelas VII-B) (4) Hasil belajar siswa yang dilihat dari  ketuntasan klasikal pada pertemuan pertama dan kedua pada soal PG dan uraian berturut-turut sebesar 95,5%; 100%; 91%; 95% (kelas VII-A); dan 91%; 86%; 91%; dan 91% (kelas VII-B), dan (5) Respon positif siswa terhadap pembelajaran IPA berbasis pendekatan saintifik dengan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing dengan nilai rata-rata 3,3 (kelas VII-A) dan 3,4 (kelas VII-B). Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran IPA berbasis pendekatan saintifik dengan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing yang telah dikembangkan layak untuk digunakan.

Abstract

This research aims to produce a feasible guided inquiry instructional materials by using computer simulation to improve students learning achievement of junior high school. The application of computer simulation used consists of PhET (Sims Build an Atom), Jmol, and Periodic Table. Development of this instructional material refers to Dick and Careys model. The subjects of this research was instructional materials that consist of syllabus, lesson plan, students worksheet, textbook, and achievement test. It was conducted to IX grade students in junior high school. The data were collected using questionnaire, observation, and test. The data were analyzed  using descriptive qualitative and quantitative statistic technique. The results of this research reveal that: (1) the instructional materials which is developed categorized very valid; (2) learning implementation categorized very good; (3) cognitive domain of the students learning achievement have increased by a score of N-gain high category; and (4) the students responded positively towards learning. Based on this results, it can be concluded that the guided inquiry instructional materials by using computer simulation which have been developed feasible used to improve students learning achievement.

Abstract

Kurikulum 2013 menekankan pembelajaran yang menerapkan pendekatan saintifik yang mampu menyeimbangkan kompetensi pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan. Kemampuan literasi sains yang dimiliki peserta didik masih tergolong rendah, hal tersebut dapat dilatihkan melalui sumber belajar dan cara pengajaran yang tepat. Kemajuan teknologi dapat menyediakan buku ajar elektronik yaitu e-book dengan berbagai fitur yang dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar, terlebih saat pandemi COVID-19 dengan menggunakan sistem PJJ (pembelajaran jarak jauh). Kemampuan literasi sains dapat dilatihkan melalui pembelajaran berbasis STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). Pada pendekatan STEM terdapat langkah-langkah yang mencerminkan kompetensi literasi sains. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan E-book berbasis STEM materi bakteri untuk melatihkan kemampuan literasi sains dan menguraikan kelayakan teoritis dan empiris dari E-book yang dikembangkan. Pengembangan E-book dilakukan dengan model 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), tetapi tidak menggunakan tahapan disseminate. E-book diuji cobakan terbatas, yaitu pada peserta didik kelas X IPA di SMA Negeri 1 Waru yang berjumlah sepuluh orang. Kelayakan teoritis didapatkan dari hasil validasi dosen ahli materi dan guru biologi SMA dengan menggunakan instrumen validasi. Kelayakan empiris atau kepraktisan diperoleh dari hasil analisis respon peserta didik yang dilihat melalui angket respon peserta didik. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu, pada kelayakan teoritis E-book mendapat skor validasi 89% yang menunjukkan sangat valid. Kelayakan empiris E-book mendapatkan skor 94,35% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Disimpulkan bahwa E-book yang dikembangkan telah layak secara teoritis dan empiris, dapat melatihkan kemampuan literasi sains bagi peserta didik.
