Abstract

This study aims to analyze occupational hazards and health risks among Paper Core factory workers, with a particular focus on occupational diseases, especially hypertension. The research is grounded in Government Regulation No. 88 of 2019 concerning occupational health and the relevance of work-related diseases to worker safety and productivity. The study employed the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) approaches, with risk analysis based on the AS/NZS 4360:2004 standard. Data were collected through observation, interviews, blood pressure measurement, and source triangulation. The findings indicate that workers are exposed to multiple risk factors, including workplace temperatures exceeding 30°C, noise levels up to 103.7 dB, dust exposure, adhesive chemicals, and heavy physical workloads. Among the 74 workers examined, 20 were diagnosed with hypertension. The analysis suggests that prolonged exposure to heat and noise significantly contributes to hypertension risk, although lifestyle factors and individual health history also play a role. Furthermore, suboptimal production facility layout was found to increase ergonomic and occupational safety risks. The study concludes that hypertension can be classified as an occupational disease among Paper Core factory workers. Implementation of risk management, improvement of facility layout, consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and routine application of JSA are recommended to reduce occupational hazards and enhance both worker safety and productivity.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Depressive disorders are one of the most common disorders throughout the world, with a prevalence reaching 5.7% in elders aged over 60 years. In the elderly, depressive disorders can make patients feel miserable, worsen medical conditions, and require a proper support system. Aims: This study aims to explore the relationship between physical activity, cognitive ability, and medical history with depressive disorders in the elderly population in Pondok Labu, South Jakarta, Indonesia. Methods: A cross-sectional quantitative approach was utilized, involving elderly participants from the School of Elderly RPTRA Pinang Pola. Data were gathered via questionnaires, and analyses included univariate and bivariate methods, with the chi-square test assessing relationships between variables. Results: Among the 34 participants, 88.2% showed non-concerning levels of depression, while 11.8% exhibited light depression. Physical activity levels of intensity were light for 11.8%, moderate for 64.7%, and high for 22.3% of participants. Cognitive assessments indicated that 2.9% were below average, 94.1% were normal, and 2.9% were above average cognitive ability. Regarding medical history, 61.8% had up to two diseases, while 38.2% had more than two diseases. Bivariate analyses revealed no significant relationships between depression levels and physical activity (p=0.551), cognitive ability (p=0.118), or medical history (p=0.627). Conclusion: These findings suggest that depression may be influenced by factors beyond those studied here, highlighting the need for broader research on depression determinants in the elderly such as the level of loneliness and the function of family and friends in the elder’s environment.

Abstract

In Indonesia, soil-transmitted worm infestation remains a serious public health problem, especially for young children. The high incidence of worms increases the risk of stunting, anemia, and malnutrition in children. Prevention efforts are hampered by low public awareness and the belief that worms are not a serious disease. The objective of this community service project is to educate mothers of toddlers and Integrated Health Post cadres about worm prevention. Counselling and health education through booklets are among the techniques used at integrated health post Kemuning A, Ratu Jaya Community Health Center. Participants in this activity consisted of 17 mothers of toddlers and 9 cadres from the integrated health post. On December 17, 2025, the activity was carried out through counselling, discussions, and a question-and-answer session. The results of a qualitative evaluation showed that mothers' awareness of risk factors and how to prevent worms had increased, as had the cadres' knowledge, awareness, and confidence in educating the community. It was concluded that by using Integrated health post-based education strategies, this program succeeded in empowering the community to prevent worms in toddlers.

Abstract

Background: Malnutrition is often referred to as a "silent emergency" by UNICEF. Globally, women and children are particularly vulnerable to health problems related to malnutrition. In Indramayu, the prevalence of stunting was reported at 14.72% in the 2021 Indonesia Nutrition Status Study, indicating a potential rise in malnutrition cases. Risk factors for stunting in developing countries include low birth weight, low maternal education, rural residence, short birth length, lack of antenatal care (ANC), incomplete vaccinations, and absence of exclusive breastfeeding, based on existing literature. Purpose: This study aims to identify the determinants and consequences of malnutrition, specifically stunting, in Indramayu District. Method: an exploratory or survey-based cross-sectional observational descriptive study was employed in this study. Results: There was no significant correlation between stunting and variables such as gender, child’s age, maternal education, family income, or history of preterm birth (p-value > 0.05). Conclusions: Despite the lack of significant associations with the studied variables, stunting remains a public health concern in Indramayu. Further research is needed to explore other potential risk factors, such as nutritional practices, environmental influences, and access to health services.
