Abstract

Abstract

Blended learning during COVID-19 pandemic creates diverse combination of face-to-face synchronous and asynchronous activities. However, there is still limited exploration on students’ readiness in terms of finishing their tasks. Most studies only focus on general description of students’ learning preparation. To complete the existing literature, we investigated the use of training, tutorials, and simulations to facilitate students’ readiness for blended learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Three iterative phases of preparation, learning implementation, and investigating findings were employed in a frame of design-based research (DBR) method. The data consists of classroom’ observations, students’ reflective notes, and students’ achievements reports. All data were coded and analyzed statistically and qualitatively to determine the benefits of training, tutorials, and simulations in supporting students’ readiness to complete tasks. The results show that training, tutorials, and simulations facilitate extra asynchronous interaction and time to help students prepare their drafts for submission. Students can achieve all predefined learning goals at the end of the semester. The results imply that educators need to explore more initial activities prior blended learning to facilitate students’ readiness.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the obstacles faced by investigators from legal, technical, and administrative aspects, and to assess the extent to which the procedures implemented are in accordance with the provisions of the applicable criminal procedure law. In practice, fraud is often difficult to uncover because the perpetrators often use modes such as promising large profits in a short time, exploiting the psychological weaknesses of the victim, or impersonating authorities to gain trust. This analysis includes an evaluation of the stages of the investigation, starting from reporting the incident, collecting evidence, examining witnesses, to determining the suspect. The results of the study indicate that the effectiveness of the investigation in the case of fraud at the Palu Police, especially in case BP-130/2010/RESKRIM, is influenced by several main factors, namely the completeness of the evidence, the competence of the investigator, and the support of investigation facilities and infrastructure. This study found obstacles in collecting digital evidence used by the perpetrators to deceive the victim. In addition, coordination with related parties, such as forensic experts and banks, succeeded in helping investigators resolve this case to the prosecution stage. These findings indicate that the investigation of fraud cases requires a more adaptive approach and is supported by strengthening the capacity of the police institution.

Abstract

Indonesia is experiencing a rise in natural disasters due to its geographical position within a tropical region, with the Upper Solo River watershed exhibiting a heightened risk of flooding. This region has already suffered numerous floods due to excessive precipitation and insufficient drainage. Susceptibility, hazard, and risk studies have been conducted to investigate this phenomenon but have been limited to specific regions within the catchment area. This study aims to construct a GIS-based flood risk model using Open-Access Spatial Data (OASD) based on diverse physical characteristics, urbanization levels, and population. We used several OASD, including SRTM, Sentinel 2 MSI, GPM v6, NASA-USDA Enhanced SMAP Global Soil Moisture Data, GHS-SMOD R2023A - Global Human Settlement Layers, and GHSL: Global Population Surfaces 1975-2030 (P2023A). The model integrates the risk parameters to identify flood risk using a weighted overlay in ArcGIS. The results demonstrate spatial heterogeneity in flood risk throughout the watershed. The result also reveals that Surakarta City, with a high proportion of its area in the 'High' (57.3%) and 'Very High' (29.54%) risk categories, is at the highest risk of flooding within the watershed. The study enhances understanding of this topic by comprehensively evaluating flood hazards, vulnerabilities, and risks. It highlights the significance of utilizing low-cost OASD to improve flood preparedness and response strategies.
