Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of submerged cage depth on the growth of green lobsters (Panulirus homarus) in Vietnamese-style cultivation on the East Coast of Pangandaran. The submerged cage was intended so that the lobsters are not disturbed by the situation/water quality in the upper layer of the water. The research method used a completely randomized design using 3 submerge cage depth treatments and 4 repetitions with different ones, A (2 meters); B (3.5 meters); and C (5 meters). Lobster maintenance was carried out for 40 days using a submerged cage with a diameter of 80 cm and a height of 90 cm. Each cage contains 10 lobster seeds measuring 40 g. Frequency of feeding 2 times a day. The amount of test feed given was 20% of the lobster weight each day. Measurement of water quality as supporting data was carried out at the beginning and end of the research. Sampling was done every 10 days and the observed parameters were growth rate, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and feed efficiency (FE). Lobster growth performance showed that treatment C (placement of cages at a depth of 5 meters) was the best among the others, as well as the daily growth rate (LPH) of 1.35%, feed conversion ratio (FCR) of 12.8, and feed efficiency ( EP) of 8.6%. The water quality in the submerged cage with a depth of 5 meters was DO 5.22 mg/L, the water temperature was 28 Celsius, pH was 7 and salinity was 34 ppt.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the food habits of green lobsters (Panulirus Homarus) when fed with natural feed rich in calcium and phosphorus, and to assess their growth performance, survival rate, and water quality in relation to different feeding treatments. The research was conducted in 2024 at the Marine Station of Pangandaran University, located in Pangandaran Regency. The study utilized a Complete Random Design (RAL) with four different feeding treatments over 6 x 10 days: A (80% anchovy feeding), B (100% anchovy feeding), C (80% rebon feeding), and D (100% rebon feeding). The parameters observed include Growth Rate based on Length (LPP) and Weight (LPB), Survival Rate (SR), and Water Quality. Additionally, natural feed habits were monitored using the AI Smart Lobster Culture version 1. The results showed that lobsters fed with 100% anchovy and rebon (treatments B and D) exhibited the highest weight increase, with values of 61.4 and 65.1, respectively, while treatments A and C showed no significant differences. The Survival Rate (SR) across all treatments (A, B, C, and D) was excellent, with an SR of 96%. The findings indicate that both anchovy and rebon, rich in calcium and phosphorus, are effective in supporting lobster growth and survival. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that feeding green lobsters with 100% calcium and phosphorus-rich feed, such as anchovies and rebon, promotes optimal growth and survival, highlighting the importance of feed composition in lobster culture.

Abstract

This research aims to discover the growth rate and survival of puerulus green lobster (Panulirus homarus) kept in varied densities in controlled containers. This research was conducted from August 2022 through September 2022 for 60 days at Koperasi Samudera Bahari Utama, Girimukti Village, Pelabuhanratu, Sukabumi District, West Java. The method used in this research was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 repetitions. These treatments were, A (density 10 lobsters/container), B (density 15 lobsters/container), C (density 20 lobsters/container), D (density 25 lobsters/container), and E (density 30 lobsters/container). The effect of each treatment was tested using the f-test in analysis of variance (ANOVA) at 5% test interval. If a significant difference was found, it would be followed by Duncan’s multiple range test. The parameters observed in this research were Survival Rate (SR), Feeding Efficiency (FE), Growth (GR) and water quality in the research media. From the research analysis, it was found that the highest parameters for Puerulus’s survival rate was in density A (10 lobsters) at 100%, for feeding efficiency (EPP) was in density A (10 lobsters) at the highest value of 5.07%, and for weight growth (WG), length growth (LG) during the research was in density A (10 lobsters) at a value of 2.4 gram. The oxygen content obtained from this research had a mean value of 6.2 mg/L. And the pH value was 7.66. The temperature was kept at 27-30°C range and the good salinity for lobster growth was at 25–28 ppt range
