Abstract

Katakunci: peningkatan kapasitas; perempuan warga binaan; relasi gender

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Stunting remains a critical public health issue in Indonesia, threatening the well-being of future generations. Community involvement, particularly by health cadres, is essential for effective prevention. However, structured assessments and follow-up initiatives to enhance their participation remain limited. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate health cadres' knowledge, roles, and skills in stunting prevention programs. Methods: A mixed-methods design with an embedded approach was applied in three phases. Phase 1: A quantitative survey assessed stunting knowledge among 193 cadres across 10 stunting locus villages in Bangka Belitung Province, Indonesia (October–December 2022). The survey tool was adapted from previous studies and analyzed using the RASCH IRT model and descriptive statistics. Phase 2: Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 20 cadres selected from the survey pool, and analyzed thematically. Phase 3: The same 20 cadres were observed conducting anthropometric measurements to assess skill accuracy. Results: Knowledge levels were generally low, with 52% of cadres scoring low to very low and only 48% achieving moderate to high scores. Three themes emerged: 1) cadres’ perspectives on the causes and consequences of stunting, 2) their roles and actions in stunting prevention, and 3) their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Observations revealed significant inaccuracies in anthropometric measurement techniques. Conclusion: There is a clear need to improve cadres’ knowledge and skills, especially in anthropometric assessment. Recommendations include implementing certification-based training, introducing innovative and standardized measurement tools, and offering accessible web-based learning platforms. Nurses play a crucial role in supporting cadre training and ensuring accurate growth monitoring at the community level.

Abstract

Disasters are rarely neutral; their impacts, responses, and recoveries are filtered through social, political, and economic structures that determine who is protected, who is excluded, and who gets to rebuild (Few et al., 2021). In many contexts, particularly in the Global South, post-disaster recovery processes become sites of contestation where inequality is not only revealed but reinforced (Joseph et al., 2021). Emerging Feminist Peace from Below and Disaster Recovery: A Quilted Ethnography by Marjaana Jauhola and Shyam Gulhavi provides an incisive and unconventional lens into these processes. The book is a landmark contribution to feminist peace studies and disaster ethnography, bringing forward a textured narrative of post-earthquake recovery in Gujarat, India, with direct relevance to broader debates on sustainable development, spatial justice, and inclusive planning.

Abstract

Abstract. The implementation of SLRT must seek the application of legal, responsive, transparent, participatory, gender equality, accountable, objective, and sustainable principles. Bandung Regency is an area that has held SLRT since 2016 until now and has received Best Practice achievements from the Ministry of Social Affairs. In fact, the characteristics of the region can be a challenge for the implementation of the SLRT implementation principle. Namely, the male population is greater than the female population, the area is large and consists of lowlands and highlands, and the 69 OPDs have their own programs and target recipients. The researcher wants to know how the Bandung Regency SLRT applies the principles of its implementation by using a human rights-based approach theory. This is because there is harmony between the principles of implementing SLRT and human rights principles in the form of participation, accountability, non-discrimination and equity. Information regarding the implementation of SLRT Bandung Regency is presented using qualitative data, sourced from interviews, non-participant observation, and literature studies. The findings of the study state that the implementation of SLRT in Bandung Regency shows active community participation and differences in treatment in the delivery of services that support substantive gender equality. On the other hand, not all OPDs in Bandung Regency have succeeded in integrating their programs and program beneficiary targets with SLRT. Thus, service delivery is not fully sustainable. However, this is not a form of government reluctance, but rather due to limited resources. Keywords: Implementation of SLRT; Human Rights-Based Approach; Human Rights Principle.

Abstract

The rise of technological advances makes it easier for people to access their needs, particularly the presence of food delivery services. Boarding students are part of the affected community. The resulting impact is the emergence of several new behaviors and habits. The presence of food delivery services does provide convenience, students do not need to spend a lot of energy and time to order food. Just rely on your cellphone, the food will arrive in front of the boarding house. However, not all impacts result in good habits, students expect much more convenience and practicality in meeting their food needs, and even feelings of laziness make students rely more on delivery services. The purpose of this article is to find out how far the impact generated by food delivery services has on student behavior. Meanwhile, the method used in this research is data collection through interviews. The Questions of the interview are based on control theory. The findings of the data stated that the emergence of food delivery services made it easier for students to meet food needs without having to go out of their boarding houses. Some of the students feel lucky for the presence of these services because they feel more comfortable to eat their own food without external distractions. However, the presence of food delivery service also raises the lazy nature of students. Thus, students must be wiser to take advantage of these technological findings.

Abstract

The D’Shafa Women Farmers Group (Kelompok Wanita Tani/KWT D’Shafa) is a community-based self-help organization that has developed since its establishment in 2018 in RW 05, Malakasari Urban Village, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta. Through various urban farming activities, the group focuses on food security and women’s empowerment within the local community. This study aims to describe the developmental stages of KWT D’Shafa using Katz’s organizational development theory (as cited in Adams, 2003), as well as to identify the internal and external factors that support its sustainability. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving the group’s leaders, administrators, members, and external partners. The findings show that KWT D’Shafa has gone through five developmental stages according to Katz, including origins, informal organization, emergence of leadership, beginning of formal organization, and progressing toward the stage of appointing paid staff and professional workers. However, the group has not fully reached the final stage, as it does not yet employ paid staff, and professionalization efforts still rely on voluntary collaboration with external experts. These findings indicate that the sustainability of KWT D’Shafa is supported by internal factors such as social interaction, participatory leadership, and member commitment, as well as external factors including government assistance and private-sector partnerships, which together enable the group to continue growing as a self-help organization in an urban environment.

Abstract

Disasters often exacerbate existing gender inequalities, yet media representations rarely reflect this structural dimension. This study examines how mainstream Indonesian media framed gender issues following the 2022 Cianjur earthquake, using Entman’s framing theory through a social work perspective. A descriptive qualitative method was employed to analyze seven purposively selected online news articles using four framing dimensions: problem definition, causal interpretation, moral evaluation, and treatment recommendation. The results reveal that women were predominantly portrayed as passive victims, with minimal acknowledgment of their agency or the structural causes of vulnerability. Media narratives emphasized emotional portrayals and short-term, charity-based solutions, while only one article offered a partial empowerment frame. These findings suggest that the media plays a critical role in shaping post-disaster gender narratives. The study concludes that integrating social work principles such as empowerment, justice, and inclusion into media analysis can inform more ethical and gender sensitive reporting practices, ultimately contributing to more equitable disaster recovery efforts
