Abstract

Religious moderation is essential to prevent conflict in a diverse society. This study analyzes the program of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Bantul Regency using Peter L. Berger's social construction theory. Field research with a qualitative approach found that religious moderation is formed through three social dialectic processes: externalization, namely the adaptation of individuals to the social structure of religious moderation through religious texts and figures; objectivation, namely the development of awareness of moderation as a positive action through tradition and institutionalization; and internalization, namely the identification of individuals in the socio-cultural context that forms inclusive and exclusive groups. The program of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Bantul Regency plays an important role in building a social foundation that supports religious moderation in Bantul.

Abstract

This study analyzes the concept of family-based character education in the works of KH Bisri Mustofa, namely Ngudi Susilo, Mitero Sejāti, Waṣoya Al Abā lil Abna', Al Azwad Al Mustofawiyah, and Tafsir Al Ibriz and examines its relationship with the three dimensions of character education according to Thomas Lickona in order to overcome the moral crisis of the young generation in Indonesia through a local Islamic approach. This study uses a qualitative literature approach with hermeneutics-constructivism to analyze the works of KH Bisri Mustofa on family-based character education. Data collection techniques through documentation and data analysis using Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutic model by integrating Thomas Lickona's character education theory. The findings of this study indicate that the works of KH Bisri Mustofa consistently contain three main dimensions of character education, according to Thomas Lickona. The moral knowing dimension emphasizes the values of compassion, obedience, and tolerance, while moral feeling highlights empathy, compassion, and respect, especially in family relationships. The moral behaviour dimension is reflected through disciplined behaviour, politeness, and responsibility. The family-based character education model developed from the synthesis of KH Bisri Mustofa's thoughts and Lickona's theory combines pesantren values with a contemporary character education approach. The implications of the results of this study can be the basis for developing a family-based character education curriculum that is rooted in pesantren values and relevant to the local cultural context. This study offers a transformative-integrative family-based character education model by combining the local Islamic heritage of pesantren and Lickona's contemporary character theory conceptually and hermeneutically.

Abstract

Islamic Education Management (MPI) holds immense potential for cultivating a generation that is intellectually astute, morally upright, and equipped with 21st-century skills, thereby making a positive contribution to society and the nation. SMK Al-Achyar exemplifies this by integrating Islamic spiritual and ethical values with global competency demands, proving to be highly essential. Concrete programs ensure students are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of the information age. Furthermore, this success is bolstered by strategic partnerships with businesses, industries, and the community, which provide valuable opportunities for students. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, integrating in-depth interviews as the primary data collection technique. Data analysis was conducted inductively using the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, ensuring comprehensive and verified findings. The study results indicate that programs like Kitab Kuning, public speaking, and digital literacy effectively prepare students for challenges. This success is consistently driven by the strategic utilization of information technology as an accelerator in the learning process.

Abstract

The existence of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) is inseparable from education. The birth of NU itself is also driven by the kyai who leaders in pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) are also. The growth of NU can be said to be in line with the growth and the development of pesantren educational institutions, madrasa educational institutions, and schools under the auspices of the Ma'arif institution. From year to year, the number of pesantren, madrasas, and schools managed by NU and also nahdliyin (communities who affiliate with NU organization) is increasing. This shows that NU, in terms of education, has made many scientific contributions to the Indonesian nation. This article is intended to explain the contribution of NU in education in Indonesia. This research is based on a literature study. The data were obtained from primary sources of documents related to the Nahdlatul Ulama organization and the thoughts of its main figures, data related to the Maarif educational institution (LP Maarif). The study focuses on the educational institutions under the auspices of NU, it’s a scientific and ideological framework that is used as the basis for thinking and behaving, as well as the development of NU educational institutions in the context of realizing the goals of national education

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to conceptualize and examine the effectiveness of the Relational Triangle of Objectives, Process, and Evaluation in AI-assisted Arabic writing pedagogy. While previous research on generative AI and digital platforms has shown potential for supporting Arabic learners, studies often treated objectives, learning processes, and evaluation as separate domains. This study sought to address this gap by introducing and empirically validating a triangulated framework that integrates the three components into a single pedagogical cycle. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) design based on Borg and Gall’s model, the study combined quantitative and qualitative approaches. Expert validation confirmed the feasibility of the relational triangle, followed by a preliminary trial with 32 students and a field test with 64 students enrolled in an Islamic Religious Education program. Instruments included expert validation sheets, pre- and post-tests, questionnaires, and reflection sheets, all validated through factor analysis and tested for reliability. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, inferential measures, and thematic analysis of student reflections. The findings revealed consistent improvements in students’ Arabic writing competence, with notable gains in grammar, morphology, iʿrāb, vocabulary, and especially in coherence and cohesion. Expert evaluations rated the model as highly feasible, while student responses confirmed its clarity, fairness, and effectiveness. The study demonstrated that improvement was not merely the result of AI use, but of the systematic triangulation of objectives, structured processes, and evaluation feedback. The novelty of this research lies in articulating the Relational Triangle of Objectives, Process, and Evaluation as a dynamic pedagogical framework. By embedding AI tools within a structured instructional design, the model bridges the gap between technological affordances and pedagogical integrity. Its theoretical contribution lies in extending constructivist principles into the digital era, while its practical implication is offering educators a replicable approach for integrating AI responsibly into Arabic writing instruction.

Abstract

Extremism is an ideology characterized by excessive fanaticism and rigid views, often manifested through violence against those with differing opinions. In the religious context, extremism arises from a narrow, literal understanding of religious teachings, disregarding their social and historical contexts. The driving factors behind extremism include theological, sociological, and psychological aspects, such as shallow religious understanding, social injustice, and a closed personality. Within educational environments, extremism can spread through indoctrination by certain educators during teaching activities or extracurricular programs. Extremist narratives often exploit the suffering of religious communities and promote violent jihad propaganda. Characteristics of extremists include being closed to other perspectives, harboring negative assumptions, adopting rigid religious practices, and a tendency to label others as infidels. Preventive efforts require the active involvement of the government and educational institutions through regulation, teacher training, and the strengthening of religious moderation values to foster a tolerant and peaceful society

Abstract

Background: Islamic education has long served as the foundation for shaping character and civilization, but institutional quality often lags behind rapid quantitative growth. Specific Background: Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) are frequently treated as administrative tools, detached from the spiritual values inherent in Islamic education. Knowledge Gap: Few studies have integrated modern management approaches with Islamic ethical principles to build a comprehensive conceptual framework for M&E in Islamic educational settings. Aim: This study explores a value-based M&E model in Madrasah Aliyah Diponegoro Yogyakarta, examining its role in institutional governance. Results: The findings show that M&E functions as a reflective and participatory mechanism that aligns modern quality management with Islamic ethics, strengthens moral identity, and supports sustainable governance. Novelty: This research proposes a synthesized model that bridges technical evaluation methods and spiritual values, positioning M&E as a strategic governance tool rather than a bureaucratic requirement. Implications: The model offers theoretical and practical contributions for policymakers and Islamic educational institutions aiming to establish value-integrated, participatory, and sustainable governance systems. Highlight Value-based monitoring and evaluation integrates modern management and Islamic ethics. Participatory approaches strengthen institutional identity and governance sustainability. The model provides a conceptual and practical reference for Islamic education reform. Keywords Monitoring And Evaluation, Islamic Education Management, Quality Management, Spiritual Values, Madrasah

Abstract

There are several problems regarding textbooks in Indonesia, especially Arabic textbooks. First, the procurement stage, such as the process of writing, obtaining texts, evaluating, and publishing. Second, the distribution stage such as access to textbooks, and purchasing power of textbooks. Third, the stage of the use of books which covers the confusion of teachers in using textbooks and the period of use of school books. The aspects of the evaluation of textbooks will be important in the future. Therefore, this research aims to construct instrumental assessment of arabic teaching books from national and international perspectives. This is important to do as an effort to obtain quality Arabic textbooks with international insight. This research uses a Research and Development (R & D) approach and content analysis. The results of this study show that the Arabic textbook assessment instrument made by the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP) and the American Council on Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) is still lacking because it does not accommodate all the points and basic elements contained in a Arabic textbooks as a Foreign language. So, the construction of a comprehensive integrated integrative Arabic textbook assessment instrument is absolutely necessary in order to obtain good and quality Arabic textbooks.
