Abstract

Concern about the low level of social intelligence among elementary school students is something that needs to be addressed immediately. Efforts to foster social intelligence at SD Kanisius Sorowajan Yogyakarta are still carried out through habituation activities at school that are not carried out every day. However, SD Kanisius Sorowajan has not implemented efforts to improve the character of social intelligence by integrating learning in the classroom using innovative learning methods and adapted to local culture. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ethnopedagogical learning for Javanese script using the Montessori method on the social intelligence character of elementary school students. For this reason, one group pretest-posttest design was used as the research method. A total of 20 children of class IVA at SD Kanisius Sorowajan, Yogyakarta, were involved as subjects in this study. The research instrument used in this study was a multiple-choice test instrument with 10 questions according to the indicators of social intelligence. The data obtained were then analysed using the IBM Statistics version 26 for windows program to calculate the effect and effectiveness with a 95% confidence level and with a two-tailed test. The research findings showed that ethnopedagogical learning for Javanese characters using the Montessori method had an effect on children's social intelligence characters (p < 0.05). The effect size was categorised as large (r = 0.8896 or equivalent to 79.14%). The learning effectiveness level is included in the high effectiveness level (N-gain score 82.52%). The results of semantic analysis show a dynamic pattern of social intelligence characters that can be classified into three dimensions, namely 1) moral knowledge, which is expressed by indicators of skill evaluation, social relationships, understanding expressions, managing emotions, 2) moral feelings, which are expressed by indicators of empathy, emotional turmoil, understanding feelings, assessing motivation, and 3) moral action, which is indicated by indicators of building relationships and good cooperation.

Abstract

Currently, many issues regarding the love of learning character are still found. The low interest in learning among children is caused by a lack of motivation, due to the adaptation process during the transition from online learning to offline learning. The aim of this study is to develop a textbook on bridge civilization based on Project-Based Learning to foster a love of learning character. This textbook is the result of research using the ADDIE model through the R&D method. The study involved ten certified teachers from various regions for needs analysis and ten validators consisting of five certified teachers and five experts for expert judgment, as well as eight children for limited trials. The evaluation results from the validation of the book through the ADDIE stages yielded an average score of 3.89 on a scale of 1 – 4, indicating the textbook is in the 'very good' category with the recommendation 'no revision needed.' The bridge civilization textbook significantly impacts the love of learning character (p < 0.05) with an effect size in the large effect category (r = 0.95), equivalent to a 91% influence. The level of implementation effectiveness falls within the 'Moderate' effectiveness category (N-Gain Score 63.84%). Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of this bridge civilization textbook based on Project-Based Learning can foster the love of learning character in children.

Abstract

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of collaboration between parents andteachers in supporting the growth and development of early childhood, especiallythrough formal communication forums such as Parents Teachers Meeting (PTM).The purpose of this study was to understand the role of PTM in supporting childgrowth and development in Montessori Kindergarten in Yogyakarta. This studyuses a descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were theprincipal, teachers, and parents of students, while the object was theimplementation of PTM and its impact on child development. Data collectiontechniques were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, anddocumentation. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Hubermanmodel. The results of the study showed that PTM was implemented in two forms, namely Classical PTM at the beginning of the school year to convey the schoolsgeneral program, and Individual PTM which is carried out every 1-2 months todiscuss the development of each child. This process allows collaboration indeveloping stimulation programs that are appropriate to the individual needs ofchildren, according to Montessori principles. The active involvement of parents inPTM has a positive impact on increasing independent behavior, learningparticipation, and synergy between home and school. However, severalchallenges such as uneven parental participation and time constraints remainobstacles. This study confirms that structured and child-oriented PTM can supportthe holistic development of early childhood. Strategies are recommended toincrease parental participation, such as the use of digital communication mediaand flexible scheduling.
