Abstract

Telah disadari belakangan ini bahwa pembakaran tebu sebelum dan setelah panen dapat merusak lingkungan hidup serta mengganggu kesehatan manusia di lingkungan perkebunan tebu. Usaha-usaha untuk menangani serasah tebu yang jumlahnya sangat banyak, yang mengganggu proses budidaya tebu telah mulai dilakukan.  Salah satunya adalah mencacah serasah tebu menjadi ukuran kecil untuk digunakan sebagai kompos, atau dibenamkan kembali ke dalam tanah.  Proses perancangan alat atau mesin yang berkaitan dengan penanganan serasah tebu tersebut membutuhkan data pendukung sifat fisik dan mekanik serasah tebu.  Data tersebut akan sangat membantu dalam menghasilkan rancangan alat dan mesin yang efektif dan efisien baik secara teknis maupun ekonomis.  Metode Penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif  yaitu melakukan pengukuran dan analisis data untuk mengetahui kondisi lahan dan karakteristik dari serasah tebu. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lebar guludun 120 cm, jarak tanaman 120 cm dan tinggi guludan 20 cm. Kerapatan Kamba serasah tebu 7,71 kg/cm3, : panjang rata-rata pucuk 162.5 cm, jumlah rata-rata daun per pucuk 4.1 lembar,  lebar daun rata-rata 5.0 cm, tebal daun rata-rata 0.3 mm, diameter pangkal pucuk rata-rata 21.3 mm, dan berat pucuk 57.3 gram. panjang daun 161.1 cm, lebar pangkal daun 4.4 cm, lebar tengah daun 4.1 cm, lebar ujung daun 3.9 cm, tebal daun 0.3 mm, dan berat daun 8.9 gram. Keywords: Physical properties; mechanical properties; sugarcane.

Abstract

Grain (Oryza sativa L) drying process is generally still done traditionally by direct sunlight. The drying process has several disadvantages such as it can only be done when sunlight is available, a longer drying time, a large area, requirement. An alternative that could be done to dry the grain in addition to using traditional drying was to use a grain dryer machines with do Wargi Mekar Farmer at Kerawang. There are several fuels that are used as heat sources for rice drying machines, one of them is firewood. This study aimed to measure the actual capacity of the wood-fired grain dryer, and also to analyzed the efficiency of drying and specific energy consumption to dry the grain. The research method used is descriptive analysis research method, namely data collection, data processing and data analysis. Research resulted that grain drying using a grain dryer as much as 761 kg.hr-1 . The yield of dry grain is 89.77%, and the value of weight loss is 10.33%. The moisture content of the material after drying is 13.06% wet basis. The drying efficiency in the process was 17.19% and the specific energy consumption was 15,318.24 KJ / Kg water vapor. Abstract

Opak merupakan makanan kering dan renyah sejenis dengan kerupuk khas Jawa Barat yang dihasilkan oleh para  pengusaha  kecil  menengah  (UKM). Daerah penghasil opak adalah Sumedang, Majalengka, Cirebon, Tasikmalaya, dan Karawang, sehingga terdapat keberagaman produk opak. Saat ini dalam proses pencetakan opak masih menggunakan alat tradisional yang disebut Geplak. Geplak sendiri masih memiliki beberapa kekurangan yaitu diantaranya pada tingkat ketebalan dan ukuran opak yang tidak seragam, untuk itu perlunya dirancang bangun alat pencetak opak. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Bengkel Logam, Kayu, Dan Rotan Departemen Teknik Pertanian dan Biosistem – Fakultas Teknologi Industri Pertanian, Universitas Padjajaran. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode rekayasa dengan melalui beberapa tahap proses kegiatan yaitu: perancangan alat pencetak opak, analisis fungsional, analisis struktural, dan analisis teknik. Hasil rancang bangun alat pencetak opak memiliki dimensi, panjang 1400 mm, lebar 850 mm dan tinggi 800 mm. Hasil pengujian alat pencetak opak ini memiliki kapasitas aktual dan teoritis sebesar 3.06 kg/jam dan 4,80  kg/jam, kebutuhan daya operator sebesar 0,837N, dan efisiensi  sebesar 63,83 %.Kata kunci: rancang bangun, alat pencetak, opak

Abstract

ABSTRACTGarbage is solid waste, consisting of organic and inorganic substances or materials that are considered to have no longer beneficial and must be managed properly so as not to endanger the environment. Garbage has been a complicated problem especially in big cities. Singaparna, Tasikmalaya  has been produced 154.72 m3 of plastic waste every day. Plastic waste collected by BST is only sort and sold at low prices to the city. To increase the sale value, the plastic waste needs to be chopped in advance. Therefore, the Laboratory of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery FTIP Unpad had developed a plastic waste counting machine to be applied to the community, especially in BST to produce the desired plastic count. However, this machine not yet performance testing data, so it needs to do research regarding performance tests. The purpose of this study is to examine the performance of the plastic counter machine which includes measuring the capacity of the machine, calculating the rendering yield, calculating the length of the enumeration measuring the engine noise level and measuring the engine vibration level. The research method used had descriptive analysis method, it was measuring and calculating the structural components and engine performance. The results of the study in measuring the performance test showed that the actual capacity of the machine was 19.18 kg / hour, the enumeration chopper was 84%, the percentage of plastic chopping length was 86.89%, the noise level was 104.77dB, and the engine vibration was 18.3 mm / s. Key Note : plastic chopper, performance test, tasikmalaya garbage bank

Abstract

Animal feed is substantial in the livestock industry. There is a stock breeder in Cikawung, Ciparay sub-district for enlarging broiler chicken. But the breeder has constraints with the high prices of animal feed. Otherwise, high amount of corn is an opportunity for breeders to save operational cost for animal feed. The purpose of this research was to test the performance and economic analysis on corn milling machine whose have been developed by Agricultural Machinery Laboratory of FTIP Unpad and applied to breeder. The method used in the research is descriptive analysis by measuring and calculating on performance and economic feasibility of machine. The result of machine performance test showed the theoretical capacity for 54,53 kg/hour, actual capacity is 29,73 kg/hour, machine efficiency is 54,52%, actual power requirement of machine without load and with load are 3,12 HP and 4, 37 HP, engine fuel consumption with no-load and loads of 0,96 liters/hour and 1,41 liters/hour, thermal efficiency ranges from 21-28%, shrinkage losses 2,65%, yield 97,35%, engine noise level of 83 dB, and with load of 86,93 dB, and engine vibration rate exceeding 4,5 mm/s (not allowed). The results of economic analysis showed that BEP achieved after the machine produces 48.657,83 kg corn flour. The corn milling machine fulfilled the criteria of economic feasibility indicated by positive NPV value, IRR of 25,67%, B/C Ratio of 1,012 and PBP for 2,75 years.

Abstract

Beberapa kelemahan mesin penyangrai William Eddison W600i antara lain  tekanan gas bahan bakar tidak terkontrol, dan sistem pengeluaran asap (exhaust) yang tidak optimal menghisap asap dan kulit sekam kopi pada ruang penyangrai. Permasalahan tersebut berimplikasi pada biji kopi sangrai yang masih mengandung asap (smoky). Penelitian ini bertujuan melakukan modifikasi dan uji kinerja terhadap mesin penyangrai William Eddison W600i. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini dilakukan melalui pendekatan rekayasa untuk memodifikasi exhaust fan mesin penyangrai biji kopi. Data hasil pengujian mesin dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata suhu pada ruang penyangrai sebelum modifikasi sebesar 217,11oC, kadar air 2,42%, laju penyangraian 0,09%/menit, efisiensi penyangraian sebesar 18,55, kulit sekam sisa penyangraian 4,6g, konsumsi bahan bakar 0,5 kg/jam. Sedangkan rata-rata suhu pada ruang penyangrai sesudah modifikasi sebesar 212,11oC, kadar air 2,44%, laju penyangraian 0,08%/menit, efisiensi penyangraian sebesar 18,36, kulit sekam sisa penyangraian 3,4g, konsumsi bahan bakar 0,5 kg/jam. Kata kunci : biji kopi, mesin penyangrai, modifikasi mesin

Abstract

Laboratory of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery, Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementAgricultural has designed a tomato grading machine TEP-5 to accelerate post-harvest handling of tomatoes. TheMachine design need to be evaluated to determine it’s performance and quality of tomato grading results. Theresearch method is descriptive analysis. Based on test results, tomato grading machine TEP-5 had an actualcapacity of 4246 Tomato with the engine efficiency of 60,48% and. Engine noise no with and without load was68,3dB and 69,8 dB respectively. Engine vibration generated during no-load test was 2.09 m/s 2 and 2.02 m/s 2with load test. Engine power with and without load respectively 265,8 and 254,8 watt. Tomato quality results frommachine was grading significantly diferrent as compared with the one graded manually. The level of tomatodemage result from grading machine storage at room temperature and cool temperature (<10 o )respectively6.42% and 5.61%. These values were lower as compared to the manual grading. The bruised area of tomatogradeded mechanicaly was 30,19% than that of tomato graded manually. Tomato color was the range of yellowand no difference was observed between manual and mechanical grading.Keyword: grading machine, test performance, self life.

Abstract

Hanjeli has a hard rind, so it takes a peeler and polisher to process it. One of the machines used is the Hanjeli Polishing Machine AGR-RM40 in the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University. However, this machine has the disadvantage that most of the hanjeli seeds are crushed and are not polished. This is due to the polishing space which is quite narrow so that it puts great pressure on the hanjeli seeds during the polishing. Meanwhile, the existence of not polished hanjeli was caused by friction between the cylinders and hanjeli which is not maximum. Therefore, this machine needs to be modified to improve the results of a better polishing. The method used in this research was engineering with several stages, such as designing a polishing unit, analysis, and performance testing on hanjeli batu and hanjeli pulut. The modification of the Polishing Unit on Hanjeli Polishing Machine (MPBH-0219) has a cylinder length dimension of 167 mm and a diameter of 37.9 mm. Based on the performance test, this machine is good and worth using where actual capacity is obtained 35 kg / hour, 96 % engine efficiency, 58,46 % dumping yield, 0.50 performance, and 1.30 kW actual power requirements. Abstract

Sukasari in Sumedang areas is one of the areas producing mole tobacco with the best quality with a production capacity of 1.2 tons.ha-1 once harvested. However, the tobacco chopping system has been still conventional which results in the inhibition of tobacco supply from producers (farmers) to consumers. The tool used was to use a knife to slice rolled tobacco with a chopping capacity of 35 kg per 2 worker per day. So the time was need to chopped 1.2 tons of tobacco in 35 days. Besides to long processing time, farmers often feels of back pain sick and right hand cramps, considering the average age of farmers have been above 50 years because the chopping process is carried out every day when the harvest season arrives. Therefore, a study need regarding the engginering design and technical analysis of tobacco chopper machines so that the chopping capacity can the production capacity of 1.2 tons.ha-1. The aims of study is to design a prototype tobacco chopper machine with a capacity of 140 kg.hour-1. This method used in this research is engineering design which is to carry out a design activity that is not routine, so that in it there is a new contribution, both in form and product.  The result of the technical analysis of this tobacco chopper machine is that the chopping power is 0.59 HP, the dimensions of the chopper machine are 800 mm (length) x 757 mm (width) x 1000 mm (height) with the prime mover using a 1 HP electric motor. Abstract

Corn waste, tithonia and cattle manure are three materials that have different characteristics. These charactersitics differences if used together in the composting process will  complement each other and potentially produce good compost. This research was conducted to find out how the composting process characteristics by utilizing the three raw materials with different characteristics in a composting process. The composting process was carried out using a berkeley method which was stacked with a layered bioreactor. The decomposition process that occurs involving decompisted bacteria, so the composting process runs aerobically. Aerobic composting  corn waste with the addition of tithonia and cattle manure finished in about 4-5 weeks to become a mature compost. The quality of the compost produced is quite good because the content contained in compost fulfills most of the quality standards regulated in SNI 7763: 2018. The addition of tithonia and cattle manure has a positive impact in the process of composting corn plants in terms of duration and good compost. Key words : aerobic, cattle manure, composting, corn waste, tithonia
