Abstract

Islamic Cultural History (SKI) learning in the digital era faces a motivation gap in which students’ high digital literacy is not accompanied by strong engagement in classroom learning. This study applied the Interactive Motivational Need Analysis (IMNA) framework to identify students’ motivational and technological needs and to formulate instructional parameters based on the ARCS model (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction) in the Independent Curriculum Phase E. The research represents the analysis stage of a Research and Development (R&D) study employing the ADDIE model. Thirty tenth-grade students of state Islamic high school participated in the study. Data were collected through ARCS-based motivation questionnaires, classroom observations, interviews, and a diagnostic pretest, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative data analysis. The findings revealed that students’ initial learning motivation was below the expected level, with an average score of 104.28 out of 160. The lowest scores were found in the Attention and Confidence dimensions. This condition was reflected in the low cognitive achievement, indicated by a pretest mean score of 32.22 on the Umayyad and Abbasid materials. Observation and interview results showed students’ preference for interactive digital environments over static text-based learning. The IMNA framework ultimately identified the need for adaptive and personalized learning media, leading to the recommendation of Conversational Scaffolding Learning through the “Ruang SKI” ManyChat chatbot to enhance learning motivation and engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Project-Based Learning (PjBL), the ecopedagogical approach, and Islamic ecotheological values on students' ecological awareness, with PjBL products as a mediating variable in Fiqh learning at state Islamic high school. This study employed a quantitative explanatory approach using the SEM-PLS method. The sample consisted of 120 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and project product assessment rubrics. The results show that PjBL (P-value < 0.001), the ecopedagogical approach (P-value = 0.004), and Islamic ecotheological values (P-value = 0.032) have a positive and significant effect on PjBL products. PjBL products also have a significant effect on ecological awareness (P-value = 0.001). However, PjBL (P-value = 0.089) and the ecopedagogical approach (P-value = 0.234) do not have a significant direct effect on ecological awareness, while Islamic ecotheological values remain significant (P-value = 0.032). Furthermore, PjBL products act as a full mediator in the relationship between PjBL and the ecopedagogical approach on ecological awareness but do not mediate the effect of Islamic ecotheological values. These findings indicate that ecological awareness is more effectively developed through learning experiences embodied in project products, while spiritual values have a direct influence on students' behaviour.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Islamic leadership and work culture on the international reputation of Islamic higher education institutions, with employee engagement as a mediating variable. Using a descriptive quantitative design and PLS-SEM analysis of 555 respondents from five Indonesian state Islamic universities, findings reveal that leadership and work culture indirectly affect international reputation through employee engagement. These results highlight the strategic importance of fostering ethical leadership, a supportive work culture, and engaged employees to strengthen institutional capacity and global recognition. The findings reveal that although Islamic Leadership and Islamic Work Culture do not exert a direct effect on international reputation status, both variables significantly influence it indirectly through Employee Engagement as a mediator. These results contribute to strengthening employee engagement as a strategic component in enhancing organizational capacity within Islamic educational institutions. The strategies derived from this study underscore the importance of leadership roles, Islamic work culture, and employee engagement in improving and sustaining the global reputation of these institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the management transformation of the One-Stop Integrated Service (PTSP) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Malang City, which achieved a 92% Public Satisfaction Index (IKM) in 2023 from 78% in 2020, with service time reduced from 4.7 to 1.9 working days. Despite growing literature on PTSP efficiency, no study has comprehensively examined the full management transformation cycle within a religious institution while integrating Islamic values as its normative governance foundation. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected from key informants comprising structural officials, PTSP staff, service users, and public service experts through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, documentation, and focus group discussions, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana interactive model. Four novel conceptual constructs emerged: the TRUST model (Transformational Religious-based Unified Service Trust), SMART model (Strategic Management Assessment Responsive Transformation), SERVE model (Service Excellence and Responsive Value Engagement), and ETHIC model (Ethical Transparency and Human-centered Institutional Governance), integrating into the overarching SDG–PTSP model (Spiritual Digital Governance for Public Service Transformation). A key theoretical contribution is the extension of Lewin’s (1947) organizational change model from three to four stages, adding Re-Freeforming as a phase of continuous spiritual-digital renewal unique to religious bureaucracies. Keywords: PTSP transformation; public service quality; digital governance; Islamic values; SDG–PTSP; religious bureaucracy.
