Abstract

In this digital age, digital strategy skills are essential for business sustainability. Nevertheless, many micro-enterprises remain behind due to limited technological competence. This study aims to examine the influence of self-efficacy on the technology readiness of working mothers managing micro businesses in the fashion sector in Bandung City. A total of 114 respondents participated in this study through a paper-based survey using convenience sampling. The instruments used were the Self-Efficacy Scale by Venkatesh et al. (2003) and the Technology Readiness Index by Parasuraman (2000). Based on simple regression analysis, the results showed that self-efficacy did not significantly influence overall technology readiness (p = 0.311). However, there was a significant relationship between self-efficacy and the motivator aspect of technology readiness (p = 0.015). These findings suggest that individuals with higher self-efficacy tend to be more motivated to use technology. Furthermore, external factors such as access to digital tools and training also play an important role in preparing someone to use technology effectively.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of job satisfaction on bank employees' decisions to resign following a corporate merger. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research involved in-depth interviews with three former employees of a merged banking institution in Indonesia, aged between 25 and 35 years, each with over three years of service at the institution. Participants were selected purposively based on their direct experience of working within the post-merger environment and subsequently choosing to resign. Thematic analysis was used to interpret the data, guided by Spector's (1997) dimensions of job satisfaction. The findings revealed a significant decline in employee satisfaction across several key domains, including compensation, leadership, promotion opportunities, workload, and workplace communication. The merger led to increased job demands, reduced perceived fairness, and deteriorating interpersonal dynamics, which collectively contributed to employees' decisions to quit. These results underscore the importance of managing human resource transitions during organizational change. The study emphasizes the importance of transparent communication, equitable workload distribution, and fair compensation systems in post-merger integration strategies to mitigate turnover intentions and promote sustainable organizational growth.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the role of ethnic identity and cultural values in the career decision-making process among early-career employees from Javanese, Sundanese, and Minang ethnic groups in Indonesia. The research method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The participants in this study were three early-career employees each representing one ethnicity. Participants were selected purposely and interviewed in depth. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify relevant patterns and themes. The results of the study indicate that internal individual factors and cultural values can have a complex influence on individuals in making career decisions. The value of collectivism is found in the Javanese ethnic with the family philosophy of "mangan ora mangan sing penting ngumpul" (togetherness values). Likewise, the Sundanese ethnic group is known to prioritize the values of "luhur budi," "handap asor," and "someah hade ka semah," focusing on harmonious social relations, specifically by respecting others and choosing to avoid conflict. The Minang ethnic group found something different, namely the spirit of "merantau," where individuals prioritize proactive adaptation strategies based on high mobility to be able to seek opportunities outside their hometown. These differences indicate that cultural values can influence individuals' preferences, strategies, and ways of facing career challenges. Taken together, the dynamics of cultural values can be the basis for developing an adaptive career decision-making model. This research is expected to be the basis for designing culture-based interventions that support individuals in planning and managing their careers effectively.
