Abstract

Preschool-aged children are particularly vulnerable to mental health disorders, which can significantly impact their social and developmental outcomes. This study aims to model the associations between mental health, social-emotional health, and child development in preschool children, emphasizing its relevance to child health policy and intervention strategies. Utilizing a quantitative, correlational, cross-sectional design with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis, the research involved 156 preschool children aged 72 months. SEM was chosen for its ability to assess complex relationships among multiple variables while controlling for measurement errors, making it more suitable than traditional regression methods. The findings indicate that the average levels of mental health and social-emotional health, as well as growth and development, were within normal limits. However, certain indicators revealed delays that warrant monitoring. A significant correlation was found between child development and both mental and social-emotional health, highlighting a predictive relationship that suggests mental health significantly influences child development. This supports the acceptance of the first hypothesis (H1) while rejecting the null hypothesis (H0). The implications of these results are critical for health workers and educators, suggesting the need for early detection programs for mental health issues in preschool settings. By integrating tools like the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) into routine assessments, this study provides actionable recommendations for improving child mental health interventions within educational policies.

Abstract

This research explores how digital technologies are utilized in community nursing to improve the quality of health care. Through the literature review method, this research analyzes various sources that discuss the use of technologies such as telehealth, health apps, cloud-based data management systems, and wearable devices. The results showed that digital technologies can improve accessibility, efficiency, and coordination in community healthcare, especially for populations living in remote areas. However, the study also identified challenges such as data privacy and security concerns, technology infrastructure gaps, and low digital literacy in some communities. Policy support, training programs, and culturally sensitive approaches are seen as key factors to overcome these challenges and maximize the benefits of technology in community nursing. This study concludes that digital technology has great potential to empower community nurses to provide better care and contribute to improving people's quality of life, provided that the challenges can be overcome through appropriate strategies and adequate support.

Abstract

Introduction: Nutritional problems in children, including underweight and stunting, remain a global health challenge, particularly in Indonesia. This study examines the influence of parenting styles and feeding practices on children's eating behavior, with family eating and activity habits as a mediating variable Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was employed in this study, involving 225 mothers of stunted and underweight children aged 2–5 years in Cimahi City, Indonesia. The study investigated key variables including parenting styles, feeding practices, family eating and activity habits, and children’s eating behavior. Data were gathered using validated questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach. This analytical technique enabled the examination of complex causal relationships and latent constructs, including mediation pathways. The research complied with ethical standards and received approval from the Health Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Health Science and Technology, Jenderal Achmad Yani University, Cimahi, on May 31, 2024 (Certificate No. 086/KEPK/FITKes-Unjani/2024). Results: The results showed that parenting styles (? = 0.222, t = 3.630, p < 0.001) and feeding practices (? = 0.243, t = 3.640, p < 0.001) significantly influenced children's eating behavior. Family eating and activity habits significantly mediated the relationship (? = 0.448, t = 6.401, p < 0.001). Feeding practices and parenting styles also predicted family habits (f² = 0.369 and 0.462, respectively). Conclusion: These findings highlight the importance of family eating habits in shaping children's eating behavior and addressing malnutrition and stunting. Thus, family-based interventions are needed to improve healthy feeding practices and promote positive eating behavior in children at risk of malnutrition in Indonesia, aiming to achieve zero stunting and malnutrition.

Abstract

Surgical procedures can lead to various postoperative clinical problems such as pain, anxiety, nausea and vomiting, sleep disturbances, and fatigue, all of which require comprehensive management. Reflexology, as a non-pharmacological complementary therapy, has the potential to support postoperative management through stimulation of reflex points on the soles of the feet, hands, and ears. This study aims to synthesize scientific evidence regarding the effectiveness of reflexology as a complementary intervention in postoperative patient management. A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Literature searches were performed in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL, EBSCOhost, and the Cochrane Library for publications from January 2010 to December 2024. The inclusion criteria were determined using the PICO framework, and methodological quality was assessed using the JBI Critical Appraisal Tools. Out of 1,032 identified articles, 15 studies met the inclusion criteria (13 randomized controlled trials, 1 clinical trial, and 1 randomized study). The synthesis results indicate that reflexology significantly: (1) reduces postoperative pain intensity, (2) decreases anxiety levels, (3) stabilizes physiological/hemodynamic parameters, (4) improves sleep quality, and (5) reduces fatigue. These effects were consistently observed across various surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), abdominal surgery, hysterectomy, and cesarean section. Reflexology has the potential to serve as a safe, effective, and practical complementary intervention to support postoperative patient management. Further studies with multicenter designs, larger sample sizes, and more standardized protocols are recommended.
