Abstract

Throughout Indonesia’s  long history, the meaning of Indonesian art has been the subject of debate. Is just “art for arts sake”, or is there a more obscure socio-political message behind the more obvious depictions. In socio-political context it would seem that Indonesian art expresses socio-political themes, but in examples depicting surrealism, absurdity, existentialsm, prophetic art and post-modernist etc. Indonesia’s art is nor a modern phenomenon. Indonesia’s art seems to continually focus on the more superficial; ideas without attempting to make even minor changes to past cultural influence. In this context therefore the emergence of a new paradigm is not surprising, and the emergence of a Koranic influence in Indonesian art is becoming the latest paradigm in interpreting the reality and meaning of contemporary indonesian art.

Abstract

Literature and Islam are two entities that do not have to be related. Due to the fact, literature can develop and flourish without any Islamic emblems in it. Even if there is a connection, the relationship between literature and Islam is actually very problematic. That is because the Islamic dustur (al-Quran), as a source of inspiration that complements every aesthetic momentum in Islamic civilization, expressly requires the integration of two totally different world existence in a space of beauty. This paper deals with the dialectic between the literary and Islamic value systems. Semiology of Islamic literature is spelled out in two aspects of meaning that are individual and universal. Individual interpreted Islamic literature has a subordinate attachment to religion while the universal interpreted by Islamic literature has unlimited opportunities of space and time to move and find spiritual meaning in life.

Abstract

This article discusses the thoughts of the figure Muhammad Naquib al Attas who discusses the concept of thought in Islamic education and is related to its relation to Islamic business ethics. Naquib al Attas's concept related to his thoughts on Islamic education are Islamic education whose terminology is taken from the Arabic words (al-Qur'an) and al-sunnah, for example there are words tarbiyah, ta'lim, and ta'dib and some are even called riyadlah. However, according to al Attas in his study of classical books it turns out that no one uses the term tarbiyah in the meaning of education. Likewise ta'lim which is interpreted by al-Attas as teaching. So, the word ta'lim is narrower than education. On this basis, the relationship between business ethics and Islamic education has a fairly close relationship because education determines what a person's personality is like both in terms of morals and ethics. The methodology used here uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach, and is carried out by gathering supporting literature sources, both primary and secondary sources related to the discourse on the concept of Islamic education Naquib Al Attas and business ethics education.

Symbols are important elements that are often used in everyday life. The Qur'an contains many messages which are depicted using certain symbols. The current reality is that there are still many who do not know and understand the symbols used in the Koran. This research will explore and discuss the use of flora symbols used in the Qur'an. These symbols are important to know and understand with the aim of understanding the messages contained in the Qur'an. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research type. Data analysis in this research uses the triangle meaning semiotic theory from Carles Sanders Peirce's perspective. After carrying out the analysis, this research found that there are 25 verses in the Qur'an that use flora symbols, which are divided into 2 classifications, namely general and specific symbol mention classifications. Which is divided into 3 general mentions of floral symbols and 7 specific mentions of floral symbols. The symbols mentioned are generally used in the Qur'an to show God's power and mercy in everything that has been created. Meanwhile, the Qur'an uses specific mention of flora symbols to show the benefits of flora in the continuity of human life.
