The objectives of this study were (i) to analyze external and internal factors of bioethanol business unit in PT Perkebunan Nusantara XI and (ii) to evolve its development strategy. The study used AWOT analysis, a combination of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and SWOT analysis. The results of AâWOT analysis are internal factors of company: strengthÂ is availability of raw materials (0.383) and weakness is high production costs (0.536). External factors of company: opportunity is market opportunity (0.340) and threatÂ is the low market index prices (0.305). Strategy prioritized in the development of bioethanol business unit is reducing the cost of production to cut costs that are not important and increasing the efficiency of production facilities in order to gain more profit (0.271).

The expansion of crop land to suboptimal land (especially in the outside of Java Island) should be set up as source of agriculture crop production growth. Saturated-soil Cultivation (SSC) Technology is able to improve the productivity of soybean plants up to 4.0 tons/ha in the suboptimal land. This research is aims to examine the decision making process on innovation adoption of soybean Saturated-soil Cultivation (SSC) Technology, conducted in Labuan Ratu Enam Village, East Lampung Regency. Main approaches were used in this research is Rogersâ theory of innovation diffusion. Decision process was divided into four main group of analysis: i) communication channel and general description of stages in the innovation decision, ii) influential variables of respondentsâ characteristics on the knowledge stage using Kruskall-Wallis test, iii) influential variables of the innovationâs attributes on the persuasion stage using Spearman Correlation test, and iv) correlation between the stages of innovation decision process using Spearman Correlation test and Mann-Whitney test. The resultsÂ shows that i) interpersonal channel is chosen as the way to diffuse SSC innovation to 25 potential farmer adopters through discussion, direct practice, and guidance; ii) the influential variables of individualsâ characteristics are leve of nonformal education and level of motivation, while level of formal education and farming experience is not significant difference in their knowledge level about SSC; iii) there is significant correlation between the level of respondentsâ persuasion and their perception on the innovation complexity and triability, but not compatability and observability; iv) each stage of SSC innovation-decision, one stage to another in sequence, has significant positive correlation.

The purpose of this research was to formulate the strategy of developing agribusiness of red potato in Solok Regency. The research was conducted on the district which has highest production of red potato in Solok Regency, Lembah Gumanti District. The method used on this research was SWOT matrix analysis and architectural strategic analysis. Based on SWOT analysis matrix, ten strategies were recommended in order to develop the agribusiness of red potato in Solok regency. From those ten strategies, sixteen recommended program was formulated based on analytical research. These programs were divided intoÂ two, routine running program and gradually running program.

A deficiency of shallot seed production causes Indonesia could not meet its own local demand yet and thus imports foreign variety from other countries. However, farmer should choose between local and imported seed variety for their farming business activity. The purposes of the study was to analyze farmer decision and factors that determine farmer decision to utilize local and imported seed of shallot. Logistic regression was used to answer the research questions. Respondents were 60 persons divided into two groups, farmer who utilized local seed and that utilized the imported one. The result showed that the differences in decision making between local and imported farmers were the benefits they sought, while the factors that significantly influence the farmers decision to use local seed are scale of land area, seed price, income and market. Scale of land area and seed price have negative influence significantly, while income and market give positive influence significantly on farmer decision to utilize conventional seed.
