Abstract

The book of Managing Millennials as a whole is not arranged like a textbook that is heavy to read and study. The sentences arranged in it seem straightforward and effective and encourage readers persuasively to be able to understand millennials from a different point of view. The adaptation tips and recipes presented also have the impression of being very practical and easy to implement in a corporate and organizational environment. In the present, this book is still very relevant because millennials still dominate the employment today. In addition, the generation after millennials, namely those born above 2000, the way of handling is also still relatively the same as millennials themselves. So that managers and leaders of the organization are still recommended to read this book. The author of this book who is a military veteran but has an MBA education background, and has experience as a consultant in various companies in which there are elements of the millennial generation, tends to choose sentences with a predominance of command words that arouse the spirit of the reader. So for readers who come from among practitioners, this book is very suitable and light enough to be read repeatedly before being practiced to the real world. But for readers from academics, this book can be a short and concise reference alternative for teaching or for students who are doing research.

Abstract

Risk analysis is needed in enterprises and various fields, including military, information technology, financial institutions and investments . So proper learning about risk is needed in various fields, both by implementers and decision makers. Although the risk is a probability science that may occur and may not occur, the uncertainty must still go through an appropriate assessment so that it can be a preparation for all parties involved in the activity. Therefore, a book on risk management was chosen in this review that specifically discusses risk management in medium and small companies. Because not many books discuss risk management in that scope specifically, it is worth discussing to open the insights of small and medium entrepreneurs, as well as academics, that risk management in that scope also needs to be studied in depth. In addition, given that the publisher of this book is the leading publisher (Routledge) in the field of academic books, there is no doubt about the book's quality in general. Therefore, it is hoped that the results of this book review can pave the way for academics and practitioners to further explore and find more about risk management references in the scope of small and medium enterprises.

Abstract

Stock trading is complicated and risky. Investors' conditions, aspirations, and viewpoints shape their journeys. This article examines stock trading and investing, focusing on Joel Greenblatt's "The Little Book That Beats the Market" and "Magic Formula" investment technique. Greenblatt's book argues that stock trading is better than saving. The "Magic Formula" focuses on return on capital and earnings yield and is simple but effective. The Magic Formula helps investors find cheap, high-quality firms by evaluating them by these two ratios. The Magic Formula, like every investment approach, has limitations. Its success depends on the investor's goals, risk tolerance, and situation. The Magic Formula works for some investors but not others. This emphasizes the need of personalizing one's financial approach and knowing that one size does not fit all. Greenblatt also stresses the significance of knowing and believing in the Magic Formula, even when it seems to be failing. He believes that effective investing requires both picking the correct companies and sticking to your strategy, even when it's hard. This emphasizes the significance of patience and discipline in investing, which are often neglected but essential for long-term success. The Magic Formula is one of several investment techniques and theories, each with its own assumptions, methods, and risk profiles. From buy-and-hold to complicated quantitative models, these methods cover it all. Investors' goals, risk tolerance, and circumstances should determine their strategy.  In conclusion, stock trading demands cautious navigation and intelligent decision-making. Joel Greenblatt's Magic Formula helps guide investors. Its effectiveness depends on the investor and is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Thus, each individual must establish their own stock trading success route with the correct knowledge, method, and mindset.
Beyond the Brain: Applying the Extended Mind Concept for Cognitive Optimization in the Digital Era Wicaksono, Soetam Rizky; Mustapa, Kasmudin; Ferdianto, Jujuk; Yudiernawati, Atti; Rusmawati, Retno Danu

Abstract

The Extended Mind concept, as introduced in The Extended Mind: The Power of Thinking Outside the Brain by Annie Murphy Paul, challenges the traditional view that cognition is solely confined to the brain. This book argues that human thinking extends beyond neural processes, incorporating the body, environment, social interactions, and technology. By understanding these external cognitive factors, individuals and organizations can optimize learning, problem-solving, and productivity. This article reviews the key ideas of the book, highlighting its relevance to education, the workplace, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) as a cognitive extension. The first major aspect, thinking with the body, demonstrates that gestures, movement, and physical interaction enhance cognitive performance, creativity, and problem-solving. In education, incorporating physical movement into learning activities improves comprehension, while in the workplace, structured movement fosters innovation. The second aspect, utilizing space and environment, emphasizes the impact of well-designed physical spaces on cognitive efficiency. Proper lighting, workspace flexibility, and architectural elements influence focus, productivity, and collaboration. The third aspect, social interaction as a thinking tool, underscores how collaboration and discussion accelerate information processing and critical thinking. Work environments that promote interaction enhance decision-making and employee satisfaction. Finally, integrating technology in cognitive systems explores AI's role in augmenting human intelligence rather than replacing it. AI can streamline data analysis and decision-making but must be used as a supportive tool rather than a substitute for human cognition. The book's insights offer valuable recommendations for education and industry. Educational institutions should integrate embodied learning techniques and create interactive learning environments. Organizations should design workspaces that enhance cognitive efficiency and balance AI integration with human expertise. Ultimately, The Extended Mind is a compelling read for educators, professionals, and researchers seeking to understand and enhance human cognition. Its synthesis of neuroscience, psychology, and real-world applications makes it an essential resource in the modern era of AI and digital transformation.
