Abstract

This research aims to describe Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis on the lyrics of the song lyrics of Untuk Dunia, Cinta, dan Kotornya album by Nadin Amizah. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The research data sources are 11 songs. The research data is in the form of words, sentences or stanzas. Research technique. The research technique uses listening and note-taking techniques. Based on the research results, it was found semiotic meaning, namely (1) denotation totaling 97 data; (2) connotation totaling 97 data; (3) myth totaling 36 data, in total, there are 230 data. System Roland Barthes meaning starts from the signifier and produces a signified from the 11 songs titles. Songwriters tend to use figurative language or poetic language or what is commonly called meaning that is not real so that it is difficult to understand. While the least data is myth because not all sentences in the eleven songs have a point of view regarding the ideology of society towards the interpretation of culture.

Abstract

Teachers are required to always be ready and responsive in following technological developments in the field of education. One of them is providing the latest learning media and in accordance with learning needs. However, facts in the field show that so far the learning media used has not attracted students' interest in learning. The aim of this activity is to overcome this problem through assistance in using the FlexClip application in compiling animated videos at the SMK Swasta Kesehatan Darussalam Lhokseumawe. This activity is divided into three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. Meanwhile, the participants in the activity were twenty teachers at the SMK Swasta Kesehatan Darussalam Lhokseumawe. This activity received a positive response from the teacher because after participating in the mentoring activity the teacher was able to use the FlexClip application to compose animated videos as a means of explaining complex concepts in a more visual and interesting way for students.

Abstract

This community service program aims to foster students' courage to speak (eliminate anxiety) through self-concept recognition. Students' lack of courage in speaking is a phenomenon that often occurs in formal situations. Students feel afraid, anxious, embarrassed, and find it difficult to express information due to anxiety/fear of making a mistake. This guilt causes a lack of self-confidence. Students feel they will be judged or commented on later by the audience. In fact, the students have not made any mistakes and are not being judged. This feeling must be resolved so that it disappears. One way to do this is through self-concept recognition. Self-concept means encouraging oneself to be more capable of knowing oneself (self-evaluation). The process of self-recognition is expected to eliminate students' anxiety and thus foster students' courage in speaking. In the self-recognition process, this community service program uses the "Johari Window" theory as an approach. Through this "Johari Window" approach, students are encouraged to be able to map their abilities so that they can better understand themselves. The method used is the lecture method and mentoring for community service participants. The results of this approach are very much felt by the students. Students are better able to map their abilities, so that the anxiety they initially felt when they wanted to speak in public is reduced. Students' anxiety was significantly reduced by approximately 89%. This percentage was derived from a vote among the entire student body. This demonstrates a result consistent with the initial goal of this community service program.ABSTRAKPengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan keberanian berbicara mahasiswa (menghilangkan kecemasan) melalui pengenalan konsep diri. Kurangnya keberanian mahasiswa dalam berbicara menjadi suatu fenomena yang sering muncul dalam situasi formal. Mahasiswa merasa takut, cemas, malu, hingga sulit untuk mengutarakan suatu informasi disebabkan oleh rasa cemas/takut bahwa dirinya membuat suatu kesalahan. Rasa bersalah inilah yang menyebabkan rasa kurang percaya diri. Mahasiswa merasa akan dinilai atau dikomentari nantinya oleh para pendengar. Padahal, kenyataannya mahasiswa tidak berbuat suatu kesalahan dan tidak dinilai. Rasa seperti inilah yang harus diselesaikan sehingga rasa tersebut menjadi hilang. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan pengenalan konsep diri. Konsep diri berarti mengajak diri sendiri untuk lebih mampu mengenali diri (mengevaluasi diri). Proses pengenalan diri diharapkan dapat menghilangkan rasa cemas mahasiswa sehingga menumbuhkan rasa keberanian mahasiswa dalam berbicara. Dalam proses pengenalan diri, pengabdian ini menggunakan teori “Jendela Johari” sebagai sebuah pendekatan. Melalui pendekatan “Jendela Johari” ini mahasiswa diajak untuk mampu memetakan kemampuan dirinya sehingga para mahasiswa dapat lebih mengenal diri mereka. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode ceramah dan pendampingan kepada peserta pengabdian. Hasil dari pendekatan ini sangat dirasakan oleh para mahasiswa. mahasiswa lebih mampu memetakan kemampuannya sehingga rasa cemas yang awalnya dirasakan ketika hendak berbicara di depan umum menjadi lebih berkurang. Rasa kecemasan pada mahasiswa dapat dirasakan berkurang sekitar 89%. Persentase ini diambil dari hasil voting pada seluruh jumlah mahasiswa. Hal ini menunjukkan sebuah hasil yang sesuai dengan tujuan awal dari pengabdian ini.

Abstract

This community service program was designed to enhance the academic writing capacity of lecturers, teachers, and students in preparing scientific articles eligible for publication in SINTA 2 and 4 accredited journals. In response to the increasing demand for scientific publications as part of academic performance and graduation requirements in Indonesia, this initiative aimed to address common challenges such as lack of writing skills, limited understanding of journal requirements, and low confidence in submitting to reputable journals. The program adopted the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, which encourages the active participation of stakeholders in identifying problems, implementing solutions, and reflecting on outcomes. The workshop was held online and structured in three main phases: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Preparation involved needs assessment and module development. The implementation phase included material delivery, interactive sharing sessions with experienced journal reviewers, and practical writing exercises. Participants also engaged in a simulated manuscript submission process using the Open Journal System (OJS). A total of 40 participants comprising lecturers, teachers, and students from the Universitas Malikussaleh area took part in the one-day intensive workshop. Evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in participants' knowledge and skills, with post-test scores rising and 92% reporting satisfaction, particularly with the practice-based sessions and direct feedback from facilitators. This program demonstrated that a structured, practical, and participatory training model could effectively build scientific writing competence. The integration of technical tools and active mentorship was key to bridging the gap between understanding and actual implementation. The program not only improved participants’ confidence but also contributed to strengthening the culture of scientific publication among academic communities in regional Indonesia.ABSTRAKProgram pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dirancang untuk meningkatkan kapasitas menulis ilmiah dosen, guru, dan mahasiswa dalam menyusun artikel yang layak dipublikasikan pada jurnal terakreditasi SINTA 2 dan 4. Kegiatan ini merupakan respons terhadap meningkatnya tuntutan publikasi ilmiah sebagai bagian dari penilaian kinerja akademik dan syarat kelulusan di Indonesia. Program ini sekaligus menjadi solusi atas berbagai kendala umum seperti keterbatasan kemampuan menulis, kurangnya pemahaman terhadap ketentuan jurnal, serta rendahnya kepercayaan diri untuk mengirim artikel ke jurnal bereputasi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) yang mendorong keterlibatan aktif peserta dalam mengidentifikasi masalah, melaksanakan solusi, dan melakukan refleksi terhadap hasil. Workshop dilakukan secara daring dan terbagi dalam tiga tahap utama: persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Tahap persiapan meliputi analisis kebutuhan dan penyusunan modul. Tahap pelaksanaan mencakup penyampaian materi, sesi berbagi pengalaman bersama reviewer jurnal, serta praktik penulisan artikel. Peserta juga mengikuti simulasi proses submit naskah melalui sistem Open Journal System (OJS). Sebanyak 40 peserta yang terdiri dari dosen, guru, dan mahasiswa di wilayah Universitas Malikussaleh mengikuti workshop intensif selama satu hari. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman dan keterampilan menulis peserta. Skor post-test meningkat, dan 92% peserta menyatakan puas, terutama pada sesi praktik dan pendampingan langsung. Program ini membuktikan bahwa model pelatihan terstruktur dan partisipatif dapat secara efektif membangun kompetensi penulisan ilmiah serta memperkuat budaya publikasi di kalangan akademisi daerah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeksripsikan struktur dan fungsi wacana naratif dalam cerpen karya mahasiswa BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing) Vietnam. Cerpen sebagai bentuk teks sastra menyediakan ruang ekspresi budaya dan personal yang kaya dan menjadi alat evaluasi kemampuan berbahasa tulis secara kreatif dalam pembelajaran BIPA. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini menganalisis tujuh cerpen karya mahasiswa BIPA Vietnam. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa seluruh cerpen memuat struktur naratif yang lengkap yaitu abstrak, orientasi, komplikasi, evaluasi, resolusi, dan koda. Meskipun, pengembangan paragrafnya dinilai masih kurang. Dari segi fungsinya, ketujuh cerpen didominasi dengan fungsi edukatif melalui pesan moral yang disampaikan dalam cerita. Sedangkan, fungsi yang paling sedikit adalah fungsi estetik dan rekreatif. Variasi bahasa menunjukkan campuran gaya bahasa naratif dari budaya asal. Mahasiswa BIPA Vietnam cenderung menggunakan bahasa yang minimalis dan reflektif. Lebih lanjut, variasi budaya yang ditemukan menggambarkan identitas dan kebiasaan dari masyarakat Vietnam. Dapat dikatakan bahwa cerpen mahasiswa BIPA Vietnam tidak hanya menjadi produk kebahasaan, tetapi juga menjadi alat komunikasi lintas budaya.  Kata Kunci: stuktur, fungsi, wacana naratif, cerpen, BIPA

Abstract

As the educational landscape evolves, it is essential for teachers to adapt to these changes in order to meet the needs of 21st century learners. One way is to develop and implement AI-based learning assessments. However, in fact, some teachers still use traditional assessment methods. The purpose of this service is to overcome these obstacles through training in compiling digital assessments based on artificial intelligence through the quizizz AI and magickpen applications so that the learning process runs optimally. The methods used are presentation, practice, and dialogic methods. The presentation method is used to convey the theory regarding the use of the quizizz AI and magickpen applications. Then, the practice method is carried out by directly involving participants to apply the quizizz AI and magickpen applications in compiling learning assessments. Meanwhile, the dialogic method is applied to discuss in overcoming problems experienced by participants during the training. Based on the training activities that have been carried out, the following results were obtained: (1) MAS Darul Falah teachers are able to use the quizizz AI and magickpen applications; (2) MAS Darul Falah teachers are able to use the quizizz AI and magickpen applications to compile digital learning assessments; (3) the assessments that have been prepared can be used in class so that the learning process runs optimally; and (4) encourage students' enthusiasm for learning.ABSTRAKSeiring dengan berkembangnya lanskap pendidikan, sangatlah penting bagi guru untuk beradaptasi dengan perubahan tersebut agar dapat memenuhi kebutuhan peserta didik abad ke-21. Salah satunya dengan mengembangkan dan menerapkan asesmen pembelajaran berbasis AI. Namun, faktanya beberapa guru masih menggunakan metode asesmen tradisional. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk mengatasi kendala tersebut melalui pelatihan penyusunan digital assessment berbasis artificial intelligence melalui aplikasi quizizz AI dan magickpen agar proses pembelajaran berjalan secara optimal. Adapun metode yang digunakan yaitu metode presentasi, praktik, dan dialogis. Metode presentasi digunakan untuk menyampaikan teori mengenai penggunaan aplikasi quizizz AI dan magickpen. Kemudian, metode praktik dilakukan dengan melibatkan peserta secara langsung untuk menerapkan aplikasi quizizz AI dan magickpen dalam menyusun asesmen pembelajaran. Sedangkan, metode dialogis diterapkan untuk berdiskusi dalam mengatasi permasalahan yang dialami peserta pada saat pelatihan berlangsung. Berdasarkan kegiatan pelatihan yang telah dilakukan diperoleh hasil sebagai berikut: (1) para guru MAS Darul Falah mampu menggunakan aplikasi quizizz AI dan magickpen; (2) para guru MAS Darul Falah mampu menggunakan aplikasi quizizz AI dan magickpen untuk menyusun asesmen pembelajaran digital; (3) asesmen yang telah disusun dapat digunakan di kelas agar proses pembelajaran berjalan secara optimal; dan (4) mendorong semangat siswa dalam belajar.

Abstract

The "Videography Training as a Presentation Medium for Final Projects for Indonesian Language Education Students" at Universitas Malikussaleh aims to enhance students’ skills in utilizing multimedia technology as an academic presentation tool. This training covers using CapCut for video editing and Canva for template design, supporting students in creating effective and engaging final project presentations. The training method combines theoretical instruction and hands-on practice, focusing on essential techniques in video capture, visual arrangement, and audio-visual editing that facilitate clear and informative communication. The training was attended by 20 students and held at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Building, Universitas Malikussaleh. The training results demonstrated a significant improvement in students' skills using CapCut and Canva, especially in adding text, overlays, audio effects, and other graphic elements that enhance the aesthetic quality and professionalism of their presentations. Additionally, these applications encourage students to be more creative in constructing visual narratives that effectively reinforce the academic messages they aim to convey. Thus, this training not only equips students with relevant technical skills but also supports their preparedness for a job market increasingly demanding multimedia competence. This activity is expected to serve as a long-term investment in preparing graduates who are adaptable to the evolving digital technology landscape in education and communication.ABSTRAKKegiatan “Pelatihan Videografi sebagai Media Presentasi Tugas Akhir Mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia” di Universitas Malikussaleh bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam memanfaatkan teknologi multimedia sebagai media presentasi akademis. Pelatihan ini mencakup penggunaan aplikasi CapCut untuk editing video dan Canva untuk pembuatan template, guna mendukung mahasiswa dalam menyusun presentasi tugas akhir yang efektif dan menarik. Metode pelatihan yang diterapkan mengombinasikan teori dan praktik langsung, dengan fokus pada teknik dasar pengambilan gambar, pengaturan visual, serta pengeditan audio-visual yang mendukung alur komunikasi yang jelas dan informatif. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 20 mahasiswa dan berlangsung di Gedung Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Malikussaleh. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam keterampilan mahasiswa menggunakan CapCut dan Canva, terutama dalam menambahkan teks, overlay, efek audio, dan elemen grafis lain yang memperkuat kualitas estetika dan profesionalisme video presentasi. Selain itu, aplikasi ini mendorong mahasiswa untuk lebih kreatif dalam menyusun narasi visual yang dapat memperkuat pesan ilmiah yang disampaikan. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini tidak hanya membekali mahasiswa dengan keterampilan teknis yang relevan, tetapi juga mendukung kesiapan mereka untuk menghadapi dunia kerja yang semakin menuntut kompetensi multimedia. Kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi investasi jangka panjang dalam mempersiapkan lulusan yang mampu beradaptasi dengan perkembangan teknologi digital di bidang pendidikan dan komunikasi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the manifestation of toponymy in the villages of Timang Gajah District, Bener Meriah, reflecting the close relationship between place names and the social, cultural, historical, and natural aspects of the local community. A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing techniques such as in-depth interviews, observation, recording, and note-taking for data collection. Data were gathered through interviews with local figures, such as the village head (keuchik), tuha 4, tuha 8, and petue, who possess extensive knowledge of the origins of the village names. Data analysis involved selection, classification, and narrative description to uncover the symbolic meanings embedded in the toponymy. The results indicate that the village names in Timang Gajah District can be categorized into four main types: vegetation toponymy, historical toponymy, bestowed toponymy, and geographical toponymy. Vegetation toponymy reflects the community's relationship with their surrounding environment, while historical toponymy links village names to significant events in local history. Bestowed toponymy, associated with administrative decisions and influential community figures, represents social change and aspirations for progress, whereas geographical toponymy serves as a geographical and administrative marker. This study contributes to the development of toponymic studies, demonstrating how place names in Timang Gajah District not only reflect geographical conditions but also involve cultural, historical, and social dynamics that shape the local community's identity.

Abstract

This study discusses the variation in vocabulary and pronunciation in the Toba Batak dialect and the causes of the variation in the Toba Batak dialect in Southeast Aceh Regency. The results of the researcher in this study aim to describe the differences in vocabulary and pronunciation used by Toba Batak speakers in the area, then map the variation based on region. The approach used in this study is qualitative. Data collection uses the ability to engage and interview techniques. The data of this study is oral data in the form of Toba Batak dialect words. The source of data in this study is a Toba Batak speaker who lives in Southeast Aceh, the researcher chose 2 sub-districts as the location of the study because it is considered to represent the variety of dialects in Southeast Aceh Regency. The results of the data analysis found that there were differences in vocabulary and pronunciation but the meaning was the same and there was the same pronunciation but different meanings and there was the same vocabulary but had different meanings in the Toba Batak dialect. This difference is influenced by several factors such as geographical factors, social factors, situational factors, and cultural factors in the area. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the semantics and syntax of Teun A. van Dijk's model in the third presidential debate of the 2024 presidential candidates. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data in this study are oral discourses in the 2024 presidential debate uploaded by the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU RI) YouTube channel with the theme of security, defense, globalization, international relations, geopolitics, and foreign policy. The data source in this study was obtained from the KPU RI YouTube channel with the title "Third Debate of Presidential Candidates for the 2024 Election" which was held on January 7, 2024. The data collection techniques used were documentation techniques, listening techniques, and note-taking techniques. Based on the results of the study, it was found that syntactic elements were more dominant than semantic ones. The most prominent syntactic element was the use of active sentences used by the presidential candidates to build a firm and convincing self-image to the public. Meanwhile, semantic elements were found through background, details, intentions, presuppositions, and nominalizations that shape local meanings in the discourse. It can be concluded that the presidential debate is not just a forum for a contest of ideas, but also a space for the struggle for meaning through structured linguistic strategies. These findings demonstrate how political language is constructed to influence public opinion and shape perceptions of power in a democratic space.
