Abstract

There are many obstacles teachers face in the learning process, such as inappropriate teaching materials, limited face-to-face time, and the large amount of material that must be completed, means that teachers must be smart in developing teaching materials that are interesting, interactive and in line with students' needs. The aim of this activity is to overcome these obstacles through training in preparing digital modules using the canva application at the Junior High School Dewantara North Aceh so that the learning process runs optimally. The participants in this activity were teachers at SMPN 1 Dewantara, SMPN 2 Dewantara and SMPN 3 Dewantara. Meanwhile, the methods used are presentation, practical and dialogical methods. The presentation method is used to convey theories about using the canva application. Then, a practical method was carried out by involving participants directly to apply the canva application in compiling digital modules. Meanwhile, the dialogic method is applied to discuss problems experienced by participants during the training. Based on the activities that have been carried out, the following results were obtained: (1) teachers at Junior High School Dewantara were able to install the canva application on their devices; (2) teachers at Junior High School Dewantara are able to compose digital modules using the canva application; (3) increasing the competence of teachers at Junior High School Dewantara in the field of technology; and (4) encourage student enthusiasm in the learning process.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memberdayakan kader lingkungan SMPN 1 Sawang melalui edukasi pertanian mandiri berbasis budidaya Luffa acutangula (gambas) sebagai bagian dari gerakan Smarter Green. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif yang mencakup sosialisasi, pelatihan teknis, dan praktik langsung pembibitan hingga perawatan awal tanaman. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta tentang ekosistem pertanian perkotaan, motivasi menjaga keberlanjutan lingkungan, serta keterampilan teknis dalam budidaya tanaman multiguna. Evaluasi pasca-kegiatan menunjukkan 90% peserta mampu merancang taman sekolah berbasis gambas secara mandiri. Program ini membuktikan bahwa pendekatan place-based education efektif dalam membangun environmental stewardship di usia remaja. Rekomendasi ke depan meliputi replikasi model di sekolah lain dan integrasi kurikuler melalui muatan lokal berbasis kearifan ekologis.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of hate speech and the meanings contained therein. The type of research is descriptive qualitative. The research data consists of words and sentences containing hate speech obtained from the TikTok accounts of Gerindra, Detik.Com, Nasdem, Tempo.Co, Kompas.Tv, Gerald Vincent, and Rian Fahardhi. The data sources in this study are comments from TikTok accounts. The data collection techniques used in this study are reading, documentation, and note-taking. Based on the research findings, the most common type of hate speech is insults, with 46 data points, followed by defamation (12 data points), unpleasant behavior (2 data points), provocation (2 data points), and the spread of false news (2 data points). The types of lexical meaning found were 15 instances, grammatical meaning 21 instances, conceptual meaning 15 instances, and associative meaning 14 instances.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the linguistic politeness in Anies Baswedan's speech at the Grand Gathering event held at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS). The research method used is qualitative. The data in this study consist of utterances, with the data source being a video of the speech from Anies Baswedan’s official YouTube channel, with a duration of 36 minutes and 40 seconds. The data collection techniques employed include documentation, observation, and note-taking. The data analysis techniques involve data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that Anies Baswedan applies various politeness maxims, such as the tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the semantics and syntax of Teun A. van Dijk's model in the third presidential debate of the 2024 presidential candidates. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data in this study are oral discourses in the 2024 presidential debate uploaded by the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU RI) YouTube channel with the theme of security, defense, globalization, international relations, geopolitics, and foreign policy. The data source in this study was obtained from the KPU RI YouTube channel with the title "Third Debate of Presidential Candidates for the 2024 Election" which was held on January 7, 2024. The data collection techniques used were documentation techniques, listening techniques, and note-taking techniques. Based on the results of the study, it was found that syntactic elements were more dominant than semantic ones. The most prominent syntactic element was the use of active sentences used by the presidential candidates to build a firm and convincing self-image to the public. Meanwhile, semantic elements were found through background, details, intentions, presuppositions, and nominalizations that shape local meanings in the discourse. It can be concluded that the presidential debate is not just a forum for a contest of ideas, but also a space for the struggle for meaning through structured linguistic strategies. These findings demonstrate how political language is constructed to influence public opinion and shape perceptions of power in a democratic space. Thus, Van Dijk's approach reveals the relationship between language and power in the context of modern political debate.

Abstract

Literasi akademik merupakan kompetensi penting yang perlu dimiliki siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) sebagai bekal menghadapi pendidikan tinggi dan tantangan akademik di masa depan. Namun, kemampuan siswa dalam menyusun makalah ilmiah, menyajikan presentasi akademik, serta memanfaatkan sumber bacaan secara optimal masih tergolong rendah. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan upaya penguatan literasi akademik siswa SMA melalui pelatihan penyusunan makalah, presentasi ilmiah, dan pengembangan pojok baca sekolah di SMAN 1 Banda Baro. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan melibatkan siswa SMA sebagai peserta kegiatan. Program dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu pelatihan penulisan makalah ilmiah, pendampingan presentasi ilmiah, serta pengembangan pojok baca sebagai sarana pendukung budaya literasi. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan ditemukan adanya peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap struktur dan kaidah penulisan makalah, kemampuan menyampaikan gagasan secara sistematis melalui presentasi ilmiah, serta meningkatnya minat baca siswa setelah pengembangan pojok baca sekolah. Dengan demikian, program ini terbukti efektif dalam memperkuat literasi akademik siswa SMA dan dapat dijadikan sebagai model pengembangan literasi di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesiapan siswa SMA kelas XII dalam menghadapi seleksi masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri melalui jalur Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Prestasi (SNBP) dan Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Tes (SNBT). Kegiatan ini melibatkan mitra dan peserta sebanyak 89 siswa kelas XII yang berasal dari SMA Negeri dan Swasta di sekitar Universitas Malikussaleh, Kabupaten Aceh Utara. Metode kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan edukatif-partisipatif yang meliputi sosialisasi SNBP dan SNBT, pendampingan pemilihan program studi, pembekalan strategi menjawab soal, serta simulasi try-out SNBT. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket pemahaman dan kesiapan awal, instrumen try-out SNBT sebanyak 160 butir soal yang mencakup tujuh sub-tes, serta angket respons akhir peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman dan kesiapan awal siswa mencapai 65,61% dengan kategori baik, namun beberapa aspek seperti kesiapan menghadapi soal SNBT, pemetaan tingkat persaingan, dan manajemen waktu masih memerlukan penguatan. Hasil try-out menunjukkan rata-rata capaian sub-tes sebesar 65,93% dengan kategori baik. Capaian tertinggi terdapat pada literasi bahasa Indonesia dan pemahaman bacaan-menulis, sedangkan pengetahuan kuantitatif dan penalaran matematika masih berada pada kategori cukup. Respons akhir peserta mencapai 88,67% dengan kategori sangat baik. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan bermanfaat dalam memperkuat pemahaman, memberikan pengalaman simulasi tes, serta membantu peserta melakukan evaluasi diri untuk persiapan SNBT.
