Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the Aceh Qanun Jinayah on the legal understanding of students at STAIN Meulaboh. As a form of Sharia law implemented in Aceh, the Qanun Jinayah plays a significant role in upholding morality and justice in the region. Students, particularly those pursuing Islamic higher education at STAIN Meulaboh, are expected to have a deep understanding of Islamic law, including the Qanun Jinayah. This research employs a descriptive quantitative method by sampling 120 students from four academic programs: Islamic Criminal Law, Sharia Economic Law, Islamic Constitutional Law, and Sharia Banking. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews, then analyzed statistically and qualitatively. The findings reveal that students’ understanding of the Qanun Jinayah varies, with those from law-related programs showing greater comprehension than students from other disciplines. Moreover, student perceptions of the effectiveness of the Qanun Jinayah in enforcing justice also differ, influenced by their educational and social backgrounds. The study concludes that the Qanun Jinayah has a significant impact on students' legal understanding at STAIN Meulaboh; however, improvements in Sharia legal education and public outreach are necessary to enhance students’ comprehensive understanding.

Abstract

Penerapan Syariat Islam di Aceh Barat melibatkan peran ulama yang berfungsi sebagai pengawas dan pemberi pertimbangan dalam kebijakan pemerintahan dan sosial, meskipun tanpa kedudukan eksekutif. Ulama, melalui Majelis Permusyawaratan Ulama (MPU), berperan penting dalam mengarahkan pelaksanaan syariat yang diatur dalam berbagai Qanun. Meskipun ada tantangan dalam koordinasi antar lembaga dan resistensi masyarakat, perencanaan matang dan sinergi antara ulama, pemerintah, dan masyarakat diperlukan untuk memastikan penerapan syariat Islam berjalan efektif, terstruktur, dan menciptakan kehidupan yang harmonis.

Abstract

The Community Service Lecture Program (KPM) is an integral part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education which aims to foster social awareness and develop students' capacity in empowering the community. However, the effectiveness of its implementation is often constrained by the lack of systematic mentoring strategies from the supervising lecturers. This study aims to analyze the lecturer mentoring strategy in optimizing the implementation of the community service program by KPM STAIN Meulaboh students. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a participatory approach, through observation, interviews, and documentation of student and supervising lecturer activities. The results of the study indicate that mentoring carried out actively, participatively, and in a directed manner can improve the quality of program planning, implementation, and evaluation by students. Students who receive intensive mentoring show better abilities in identifying community needs, designing programs based on local potential, and establishing effective collaboration with village stakeholders. The mentoring strategy also contributes to shaping students' character as agents of social change. It can be concluded that the active involvement of lecturers in all stages of KPM is the key to the success of impactful and sustainable service.

Abstract

Foster Village is a community development program that aims to improve the quality of life in rural areas. This program focuses on various aspects of community development, such as education, the economy, and community empowerment. This program was implemented by STAIN Teungku Dirundeng Meulaboh in Gampong Pasi Mesjid, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency from October 28 to November 28, 2022. Activities in this study used the Participatory Action Research (PAR) mentoring method, from the research results it was concluded that the Assisted Village program by The campus aims to develop the village so that it becomes an independent village and improves the welfare of the village community. This program also provides learning opportunities and contributions for program participants and involves campuses, lecturers, and students in village development efforts.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan pelaksanaan Festival Anak Sholeh Ramadhan di Gampong Pange, Kecamatan Samatiga, Kabupaten Aceh Barat melalui keterlibatan aktif mahasiswa Kuliah Pengabdian Masyarakat (KPM) STAIN Meulaboh. Festival ini merupakan kegiatan tahunan yang diselenggarakan masyarakat setempat dalam rangka mengisi bulan Ramadhan dengan kegiatan positif dan edukatif bagi anak-anak. Namun dalam pelaksanaannya, festival ini masih menghadapi sejumlah kendala, seperti kurangnya tenaga pendamping, minimnya variasi kegiatan, serta lemahnya sistem pengelolaan. Melalui pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR), mahasiswa berperan sebagai fasilitator, pendamping, dan penggerak kegiatan, mulai dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, hingga evaluasi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan sejak 10 Februari hingga 21 Maret 2025 dengan berbagai tahapan, antara lain koordinasi dengan masyarakat, penyusunan program lomba keagamaan, pelatihan, serta refleksi bersama. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan partisipasi anak-anak dan masyarakat, serta kualitas pelaksanaan festival yang lebih sistematis, kreatif, dan edukatif. Kegiatan ini juga memberikan pengalaman berharga bagi mahasiswa dalam mengimplementasikan ilmu yang diperoleh di perkuliahan ke dalam praktik langsung di masyarakat.

Abstract

This activity aims to enhance the capacity of students from the Islamic Community Development (PMI) Study Program at STAIN Teungku Dirundeng Meulaboh in writing community service journals based on their micro and macro Field Practice Experience (PPL) reports. The background of this initiative lies in the students’ limited awareness and skills in transforming PPL reports into publishable scientific articles. The method employed in this program was the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, conducted through three main stages: problem identification, training and mentoring in journal writing, and evaluation of outcomes. The activity featured two resource persons: Ramli, M.Ag (PMI Lecturer), and Sumardi Efendi, M.Ag (Islamic Criminal Law Lecturer), who have collaboratively published 24 community service journals with students since 2022. The results show that students gained a deeper understanding of the structure, writing techniques, and ethical aspects of scientific publication. They were also encouraged to actively document their PPL activities in a systematic and scholarly manner. This initiative serves as a strategic effort to foster a scientific culture among PMI students.
