Abstract

This research aims to determine community participation in the management of water conservation monitoring in the Buleleng area in the Tejakula district. The study also aims to investigate the impact of both internal and external community factors on community participation in the conservation of fisheries resources within the Buleleng Regional Marine Conservation Area in Tejakula District. The total population covered in the study was 1920 people. The sample size of respondents is at least 10% of the total population, as many as 192 people. This research uses a quantitative survey method approach. Samples were determined using stratified random sampling. The sampling was determined proportionally based on the community's field of work in the conservation of fisheries resources in the Buleleng Region KKP in Tejakula District. The groups involved include fishermen, POKMASWAS members (Community Surveillance Groups), processors and marketers of fishery products, fish cultivators, community salt farmers, tourism actors, local regional officials, and non-governmental organizations. This research analysis uses PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling). The results of this research show that simultaneously internal and external factors contribute to explaining 89.6 percent of community participation. Community participation, as measured by seven distinct items, shows a strong correlation with the factors explaining it. Simultaneously, internal and external factors contribute to defining the community participation of 89.6%. The internal factor that makes the most substantial contribution is work. The external factor making the most significant contribution is the maintenance of cultural activities around coastal and marine areas, ensuring their continuity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of fuel prices (BBM) and sea wave height on the price of mackarel tuna in Banda Aceh City, with a case study at the Ocean Fisheries Port (PPS) Kutaraja Lampulo. The study uses monthly secondary data from 2019 to 2024 and applies a Linear Regression Model for analysis. The regression results indicate that both fuel prices and sea wave height have a significant effect on mackarel tuna prices at the 0.05 significance level. The wave height variable shows a positive coefficient, indicating that higher waves tend to increase mackarel tuna prices. This finding is consistent with the theory that extreme sea conditions hinder fishing activities, reduce fish supply, and consequently increase prices. However, the fuel price variable shows a negative coefficient, contrary to the economic theory that rising fuel prices should increase commodity prices due to higher production costs. This result is likely due to the stability of fuel prices (diesel fuel) during the observation period and the operational efficiency achieved through the use of technology by fishermen, allowing them to maintain or even improve catch volumes despite rising fuel prices. Abstract

Coastal areas play a crucial role in supporting tourism, local economies, and the conservation of natural resources; therefore, sustainable management based on suitability and environmental carrying capacity data is essential. This study aims to analyze the level of suitability and carrying capacity of the coastal tourism area at Allang Asaude Beach, Huamual Belakang District, West Seram Regency, Maluku Province. Data was collected through direct observation and open-ended interviews. The assessment of coastal tourism suitability employed ten parameters, including beach type, beach width, substrate material, water depth, clarity, current velocity, beach slope, land cover, presence of hazardous biota, and availability of freshwater. The results showed that the coastal tourism suitability index at three observation stations fell into the highly suitable category, with an Index of Tourism Suitability (ITS) value of 2.99. The supporting biophysical conditions such as clear waters, calm currents, and white sandy beaches were the main determinants of this classification. Meanwhile, the Carrying Capacity (CC) calculation indicated that the Allang Asaude coastal tourism area could accommodate up to 1,363 visitors per day, remaining within the safe ecological threshold. These findings suggest that Allang Asaude Beach has excellent potential to be developed as a sustainable marine tourism destination, provided that environmental management, conservation principles, and local community participation are effectively implemented.
