Abstract

English mastery  has  become more important in this era. English teachers, therefore,  are expected  to help students to get much success in their language learning by making them aware of the importance of their contribution in learning the language and, then, teaching them language learning strategies. Abstract

Teaching students  to speak English is not an easy task. The teachers shoud consider and think hard about several points to be done: to  make the students motivated to speak English, to keepthem speaking the new language, and to make them have accuracy in speaking the language, and  to correct the students’ mistakes without feeling being  blamed or discouraged. To handle the difficult  tasks previously mentioned, the English teachers should find a solution. Teaching the students through unforgettable, interesting experiences might be one of the solutions that they can choose. Therefore, teaching speaking might be best done through task-based instruction. Kata kunci: teaching, speaking

Abstract

The research is conducted based on the fact that Senior high school English teachers of Tanah Datar Regency face problems in implementing curiculum 2013.The research is aimed at finding out the problems of the teachers related to the implementation of the Curriculum. Therefore, a qualitative research method was applied. To collect the data of the research, interview technique was used. To analyze the colled data, interactive model of analysis as proposed by Miles and Huberman was used. The results of the research show that there were two types of the problems that the teachers faced in implementing the new Curriculum, those deriving from the teachers themsevels, and those deriving from others, like government, students and facilities. Abstract

Abstract: Despite a considerable body of studies, little attention is given to the advantages of using songs in learning (learner-centred).  The study, therefore, is aimed at eliciting Indonesian EFL learners’ beliefs about the advantages of using songs for their language learning. Researching the research phenomenon through a qualitative study using a case study design, in-depth interview technique was applied to collect the data of the learners’ beliefs from eleven university learners majoring English. This study indicated an interesting finding that it was perceived that the learners believed that there were  some advantages of using songs in learning English: increasing  their EFL learning in the aspects of language skills (listening and speaking), language components (vocabulary mastery and pronunciation), their knowledge, their  confidence and relaxation, and improving their mood and focus.  Thus, it is recommended that songs be used either in teachers’ EFL teaching and in learners’ EFL learning. Abstrak: Meskipun telah banyak penelitian yang dilakukan, namun masih sedikit perhatian yang diberikan tentang manfaat penggunaan lagu dalam pembelajaran (berpusat pada peserta didik). Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap keyakinan pembelajar Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing di Indonesia tentang manfaat penggunaan lagu dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing mereka. Meneliti fenomena melalui studi kasus, teknik wawancara mendalam diterapkan untuk mengumpulkan data tentang keyakinan sebelas mahasiswa jurusan Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ii menunjukkan temuan yang menarik bahwa peserta didik percaya bahwa ada beberapa keuntungan dari pemanfaatan lagu dalam pembelajaran  bahasa Ingris mereka pada aspek keterampilan bahasa (menyimak dan berbicara), komponen bahasa (penguasaan kosa kata dan pengucapan),  pengetahuan  mereka, kepercayaan diri dan relaksasi mereka, serta memperbaiki suasana hati dan fokus mereka. Oleh karena itu, disarankan agar lagu digunakan dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris oleh guru maupun dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris oleh peserta didik.

Abstract

Heavy workload has become a problem of many female teachers in the world. Finding out how workload has impacted teachers’ job effectiveness worth searching. The respondents of the research were were 78 secondary school female teachers in Tanah Datar Regency.  The data of the research were collected through a google-form.  The data were analyzed through Descriptive Statistics. The study results show that female teachers are over-burdened with their tasks at school and at home, face many problems like having negative feeling to themselves, having no leisure time, lacking of social responsibility and participation in school activities and house work, being not optimal in job performance, being exhausted, feeling lack of energy, getting problem in time management,   doing social withdrawal, and having lower social competence after the issuance of the new regulation. Therefore, it is recommended that the new government regulation of teacher workload be quitted in order that better education quality is achieved.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk  mengetahui pengaruh supervisi akademik dan motivasi kerja guru terhadap keterampilan guru dalam mengelola kelas.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasional. Sampel yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini 203 orang yang merupakan guru SMKN Kota Solok dengan teknik simple random sampling. Analisis data menggunakan teknik regresi linier berganda melalui SPSS 24. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) adanya pengaruh yang signifikan supervisi akademik terhadap keterampilan guru dalam mengelola kelas dengan nilai t-hitung > t-tabel yaitu 16,232 > 1,972 dan nilai signifikansi 0,00 < 0,05. (2) keterampilan guru dalam mengelola kelas dipengaruhi oleh motivasi kerja guru dengan nilai signifikansi 0,00 lebih kecil dari 0,005 dan nilai t hitung > t tabel yaitu 3,421 > 1,972. (3) adanya pengaruh supervisi akademik dan motivasi kerja guru terhadap keterampilan guru dalam mengelola kelas secara bersama-sama sebesar 65% dengan taraf signifikansi 0,00 < 0,05 dimana F hitung > F tabel yaitu 185,705 > 3,04. Kesimpulan keterampilan guru dalam mengelola kelas akan meningkat karena adanya supervisi akademik dan motivasi kerja guru, baik secara parsial ataupun simultan

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out what strategies are implemented by the leadership of Al-Mumtaz Islamic High School, Solok City in developing students' talents, achievements and noble morals. This research uses a qualitative field research approach, a case study approach. Research site at Al Muntaz Islamic High School, Solok City. The research informants were the school principal, committee chairman, deputy principal, Head of the Achievement Education and Training Center (PPLP), teachers, students and elements within the Al Muntaz High School School environment, Solok City. The instruments of this research are interviews, observation sheets and documentation studies. The data collection technique used was through in-depth interviews, role observation and documentation studies. The data technique is by triangulation, namely source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of the research show that the strategies used by the Principal of Al Muntaz Islamic High School in developing students' talents, achievements and morals include developing students' potential according to their wishes, while to form morals, they are guided by the morals of the Prophet SAW in everyday life and then doing everything in earnest.

Abstract

This study is about the acceptance of new students (PPDB) at SMPN Tanah Datar by using a zoning system. As for the goals of this study is to find out how it is implemented, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in PPDB by using the zoning system at SMPN Tanah Datar Regency. This study uses qualitative methods with phenomenological types. The research instrument is the researcher himself and is added with notebooks, recording devices, and other documents as supporters. Sources of data were obtained from principals, teachers, parent and student at 7 SMPN Tanah Datar Regency. data collection using observation techniques, interviews and documentation. to check the validity of the data using the triangulation method and then analyzed using the Miles and Hubermen model consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that in the implementation of the zoning system policy in the acceptance of new students (PPDB) at SMPN Tanah Datar for 3 years, there were several problems encountered in the field such as zone mapping by the local government which was not yet accurate, the quota set was not in accordance with the needs. schools, regulations that are not yet firm so that there are still schools that violate the zoning provisions in the PPDB, there is still a lack of socialization to the community and the motivation and learning achievement of students / wi has decreased. The conclusion in this study is that the government as a stakeholder in education needs to evaluate especially in education policies in order to assess and measure whether the zoning system in PPDB has been implemented properly or not, what needs to be improved and addressed and can provide inputs. input so that the zoning system policy in this PPDB will be even better next time.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the learning evaluation by English teachers and the supervision of madrasah principals using phenomenological research with a qualitative approach. It was conducted at MTsN in Tanah Datar Regency, namely MTsN 1, MTsN 2, and MTsN 3 Tanah Datar. A total of 10 research informants, including the principal of the madrasa and English teachers, were used. The data collection involves in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. Meanwhile, the data technique used was a source and technical triangulation. The results showed that: 1) Evaluation of learning processes and outcomes, in addition to language, was practised by English teachers. The strategies and developments include formative, summative, placement, and diagnostic evaluations. Furthermore, the evaluation of language learning comprises the domain of knowledge, attitudes, and skills. 2) There are several forms of supervision of the madrasah principal on the evaluation of learning, namely supervision of discipline, motivation, training, teacher performance, and work relations.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tipe-tipe kepemimpinan dalam suatu organisasi untuk memberikan bekal informasi kepada calon pemimpin atau pemimpin baru agar dapat menjalankan organisasi dengan efektif. Waluyo (2007:3), mengatakan bahwa pemimpin merupakan unsur yang paling utama dalam organisasi, karena baik buruknya perilaku pemimpin dalam membina bawahannya. Setiap pemimpin memiliki gaya kepemimpinan yang berbeda, dengan adanya teroi tentang gaya kepemimpinan diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi gayake pemimpinan mana yang paling tepat diterapkan di suatu organisasi yang dipimpinnya.
