Abstract

This study investigates the impact of simulation media in problem-based learning on student learning outcomes in Basic Electricity and Electronics. The research problem addresses the low student engagement and learning performance due to conventional teaching methods. The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of Livewire and Proteus simulation media in enhancing students' understanding of direct current circuit analysis. This research employs a quasi-experimental method with a Two-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The study sample consists of 64 tenth-grade students from the Electrical Power Installation Engineering program at SMK Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan, divided into two groups: one using Livewire simulation and the other using Proteus simulation in problem-based learning. Data was collected through pretests and posttests, analyzed using t-tests to determine differences in learning improvement. The results reveal that students using Livewire simulation media achieved significantly higher post-test scores (average 80.3) compared to those using Proteus simulation media (average 63.7). These findings suggest that Livewire is more effective in facilitating conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. The implications highlight the need for integrating technology-based learning tools to enhance vocational education outcomes. Schools and educators should consider incorporating simulation-based learning strategies to improve student engagement and academic performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of good governance principles in public service at the Department of Population and Civil Registration. Principles such as transparency, accountability, responsiveness, and public participation are the main focus in evaluating the quality of population administration services. The research employs a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Findings indicate that some principles have been well implemented, particularly in information provision and digital-based administration systems. However, challenges remain, such as limited public participation, uneven responsiveness among staff, and users’ low digital literacy. The study recommends strengthening participatory mechanisms, service-oriented human resource training, and enhancing inclusive information systems. Overall, the study highlights the importance of integrating good governance principles to promote more effective, equitable, and sustainable public service governance.

Abstract

This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology to design, develop, and evaluate the Participatory, Integrative, and Collaborative Competency-Based Training Model (PIKOLAK), utilizing a blended learning approach to enhance the professional competence of teachers in Humbang Hasundutan Regency. The development process followed an iterative sequence of stages, including a comprehensive needs analysis, systematic model design, expert validation, and rigorous field testing. The blended learning framework integrated face-to-face sessions with online components, allowing for greater flexibility and accessibility while maintaining instructional quality. The implementation of the PIKOLAK model resulted in a marked improvement in teachers' professional competencies. Quantitative analysis revealed a statistically significant increase in mean test scores, rising from 65.2 on the pre-test to 83.7 on the post-test (p < 0.01). These findings suggest that the model effectively addressed gaps in teachers' knowledge and skills. Qualitative feedback from participating teachers further supported these outcomes, indicating increased engagement, stronger collaborative practices, and enhanced application of pedagogical competencies in real classroom contexts. The participatory and integrative learning strategies embedded in the model were particularly appreciated, as they fostered a sense of ownership and relevance among learners. Overall, the results affirm that the PIKOLAK model is a valid, reliable, and effective framework for advancing teacher professional development. Its blended format offers a scalable and adaptable solution that accommodates diverse learning needs while promoting sustainable, practice-based improvements in educational quality. Consequently, the model holds significant potential for broader implementation across similar educational contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a Discovery Learning-based physics E-module using the Heyzine Flipbook platform to improve student learning outcomes on the topic of global warming in Grade X at SMAN 12 Medan. The development model used is the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through expert validation, practicality questionnaires for teachers and students, and pretest-posttest evaluations to measure effectiveness. The feasibility test results from content, design, and media experts indicated that the E-module is in the "very feasible" category. The practicality test results showed that both teachers and students considered the E-module easy to use and supportive of the learning process. The effectiveness test using the paired t-test showed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, while the N-gain analysis indicated a medium category of learning gain. These results demonstrate that the Heyzine Flipbook-based E-module is not only feasible and practical but also effective in enhancing conceptual understanding. The study concludes that the integration of Discovery Learning with digital media can support independent and interactive learning and is recommended for wider implementation across science subjects.

Abstract

Vocational education in Indonesia faces challenges in providing interactive learning that aligns with the demands of Industry 4.0. In addition, students’ low engagement in understanding technical concepts remains a major obstacle to achieving meaningful learning outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a web-based learning system using the PACTA model in improving student learning outcomes. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design across two groups: one group used the PACTA system integrated with Augmented Reality (AR) and an AI-based chatbot, while the other group used a conventional web-based learning platform. Results showed that the PACTA group experienced an increase in average score from 45.22 to 63.91 (t = 3.508; p = 0.002) with an effect size of 18.69%, while the conventional group improved from 38.04 to 44.79 (t = 2.273; p = 0.031) with an effect size of 6.75%. Student perception data showed high satisfaction, with effectiveness at 90.67%, ease of use at 88.2%, and accessibility at 85.0%. The findings conclude that the PACTA-based learning system effectively enhances student engagement and understanding and is recommended for broader application in vocational education.
