Abstract

Mikroplastik sebagai hasil degradasi sampah plastik besar telah mencemari lingkungan perairan. Mikroplastik di perairan ini berpotensi untuk terakumulasi dalam tubuh organisme termasuk ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan membandingkan mikroplastik pada insang, saluran pencernaan dan daging ikan lemuru (Sardinella lemuru) yang didaratkan di Pelabuhan Sendangbiru, Malang. Pengumpulan sampel ikan dilakukan pada Bulan Maret 2020 dengan membeli  10 ekor ikan hasil tangkapan nelayan dengan kisaran ukuran 11−15 cm. Analisis laboratorium dilakukan mulai dari mengukur panjang (cm) dan berat (g) ikan, melakukan pembedahan masing- masing organ, destruksi bahan organik dan identifikasi mikroplastik menggunakan mikroskop. Destruksi bahan organik dilakukan dengan merendam sampel organ yang sebelumnya telah ditimbang berat basahnya menggunakan larutan H2O2 30 % dan Fe(II) 0.05 M. Sampel diinkubasi selama 24 jam hingga sampel beserta bahan organik hancur. Tiga jenis mikroplastik ditemukan di seluruh sampel organ ikan dengan dominansi jenis fiber (54 %), diikuti oleh fragmen (43 %) dan film (3 %). Keberadaan mikroplastik pada ikan dapat dikaitkan dengan keberadaan mikroplastik di perairan. Komposisi jenis mikroplastik  berbeda  untuk  setiap  organ.  Fragmen  ditemukan  paling  banyak  pada insang, sedangkan pada saluran pencernaan dan daging didominasi oleh jenis fiber. Film ditemukan dengan jumlah yang paling sedikit pada ketiga organ. Keberadaan mikroplastik pada insang dan saluran pencernaan berkaitan dengan interaksi langsung ikan dengan lingkungan melalui pernapasan dan proses makan, sedangkan mikroplastik pada daging karena adanya proses translokasi atau perpindahan antar organ

Abstract

Perikanan Tongkol merupakan perikanan prioritas di wilayah Jawa Timur yang direncanakan diajukan untuk mendapatkan sertifikasi perikanan Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) untuk menjamin kelestarian sumber daya ikannya. Dalam rangka pemenuhan sertifikasi tersebut, hasil pra-penilaian sertifikasi menunjukkan bahwa perikanan Tongkol, khususnya Tongkol abu-abu (Thunnus tonggol) di wilayah utara Jawa tidak memiliki informasi yang cukup terkait stok perikanan. Oleh karena itu dilakukan penelitian terkait status stok perikanan Tongkol pada bulan Juni 2023 yang didasarkan pada data statistik hasil tangkapan (kg) dan upaya penangkapan (trip) perikanan Tongkol abu-abu yang didaratkan di Tempat Pelelangan Ikan (TPI) Kranji, Lamongan, Jawa Timur pada tahun 2013 – 2021. Model surplus produksi dengan pendekatan model Schaefer 1954 dan Fox 1970 digunakan untuk mengetahui model terbaik untuk menduga status pemanfaatan dari ikan Tongkol abu-abu. Hasil analisis dari model Schaefer 1954 dan Fox 1970 yang digunakan untuk menduga status stok ikan tongkol diketahui bahwa model Schaefer merupakan model terbaik yang digunakan untuk menduga status pemanfaatan ikan tongkol walang (Thunnus tonggol) dengan nilai potensi hasil tangkapan maksimum lestari (YMSY) sebesar 1113663 Kg dan upaya penangkapan maksimum lestari (FMSY) sebesar 2108 trip serta nilai hasil tangkapan yang diperbolehkan (YJTB) sebesar 556831 Kg dan upaya penangkapan yang diperbolehkan sebesar 473 trip, kemudian tingkat pemanfaatan yaitu sebesar 184% yang artinya pemanfaatan ikan tongkol walang di perairan Kranji sudah over exploited atau tereksploitasi secara berlebih. Diperlukan pengelolaan sumber daya perikanan Tongkol abu-abu dalam rangka membatasi laju tangkapan spesies tersebut.

Abstract

Trammel net is a type of gill net. Usually, fishermen operate trammel nets to catch shrimp. Many fishermen build trammel nets traditionally without going through a standard design and construction process. They bought webbing on the market to assemble them into three layers of net and equipped with rope components and buoys, sinker, and selvedge. Meanwhile, to realize the effectiveness of fishing and managing fisheries activities, the government regulates the standard form of trammel net through SNI 01-7237-2006. Thus, it is necessary to evaluate the suitability of the standard form of trammel net based on SNI rules. This research was conducted using a quantitative descriptive method. The research locations are in three villages which are fishing bases for trammel net fishermen in Kotabaru Waters, namely: Pantai Village; Salino Village; and Sungai Pasir Village. The results from the three trammel net sample sizes: small; medium and large have scores of 89%; 95%; and 95% which are in the very suitable category.

Abstract

Musim penangkapan ikan didefinisikan sebagai waktu-waktu dalam setahun di mana aktivitas penangkapan bisa menghasilkan ikan target secara optimal. Studi ini bertujuan untuk (1) analisis musim penangkapan terhadap ikan target dari armada perikanan Sekoci (pancing) dengan armada Slerek (purse seine), dan (2) analisis produksi hasil tangkapan nelayan yang beroperasi pada musim barat yang oleh sebagian besar nelayan dianggap sebagai musim paceklik. Penelitian dilakukan pada PPP Pondokdadap pada armada Sekoci dan Slerek. Data hasil tangkapan harian yang diagregasi menjadi bulanan dari kedua armada dikumpulkan dari Januari 2021 sampai Desember 2024. Jenis ikan hasil tangkapan diidentifikasi menggunakan panduan penciri morfologis. CPUE dihitung sebagai hasil pendaratan (kg) per jumlah trip pendaratan (landing trips) dan dianalisis menggunakan Indeks Musim Penangkapan (IMP) berbasis rata-rata bergerak (moving average) terhadap CPUE bulanan. Perbedaan rata-rata CPUE antar bulan diuji menggunakan analisis ragam (ANOVA). Hasil analisis mendapatkan bahwa hasil tangkapan utama dari armada Sekoci ialah tuna oseanik, (madidihang, mata besar, albakora, dan sirip biru), baby tuna dan cakalang dengan ikan non-target (by-catch) marlin (setuhuk/layaran) dan lemadang. Armada Slerek menargetkan ikan pelagis kecil (lemuru dan layang), baby tuna, cakalang, dan tongkol. IMP mengindikasikan bahwa puncak musim relatif terhadap tuna oseanik beserta ikan non-target seperti marlin dan lemadang terjadi pada musim timur (April–September), sedangkan lemuru, layang, baby tuna, dan cakalang cenderung meningkat pada musim barat. Total armada Sekoci yang beroperasi selama musim barat hanya mencapai 5±2,3% dari total armada aktif yang beroperasi, kurang dari setengah armada Slerek (13±1,9%) yang beroperasi selama musim yang sama. IMP menunjukkan kecenderungan musiman relatif, meskipun uji beda rata-rata CPUE antar bulan tidak signifikan (p>0,05) baik pada armada Sekoci maupun Slerek. Tingginya armada Slerek yang beroperasi pada musim barat berhubungan dengan wilayah operasi yang lebih dekat dengan pantai (di dalam wilayah 12 mil), sebaliknya, armada Sekoci melakukan operasi lebih jauh (> 12 mil) dengan mentargetkan tuna oseanik.   Fishing seasons are defined as periods within a year when fishing activities can optimally produce the target catch. This study aims to (1) analyze the fishing seasonality of target species for the Sekoci fleet (handline) in comparison with the Slerek fleet (purse seine), and (2) assess catch production from fishers operating during the west monsoon, which most fishers consider the lean season. The study was conducted at Pondokdadap Coastal Fishing Port (PPP Pondokdadap) focusing on the Sekoci and Slerek fleets. Daily landing records aggregated into monthly data were collected from January 2021 to December 2024. Landed species were identified using morphological identification guides. CPUE was calculated as landed catch (kg) per number of landing trips and analyzed using a Fishing Season Index (FSI/IMP) based on a moving average of monthly CPUE. Differences in mean monthly CPUE were tested using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results show that the Sekoci fleet’s main catches are oceanic tunas (yellowfin, bigeye, albacore, and bluefin), baby tuna, and skipjack, with non-target by-catches of marlins (sailfish/spearfish) and dolphinfish. The Slerek fleet targets small pelagic fish (sardines and scads), as well as baby tuna, skipjack, and mackerel tuna. The FSI indicates a relative peak season for oceanic tunas and the non-target by-catches (marlins and dolphinfish) during the east monsoon (April–September), whereas sardines, scads, baby tuna, and skipjack tend to increase during the west monsoon. During the west monsoon, the proportion of operating Sekoci vessels averaged 5±2.3% of the active fleet, less than half that of the Slerek fleet (13±1.9%) operating in the same season. The FSI captures relative seasonal tendencies, although differences in mean monthly CPUE were not statistically significant (p>0.05) for either fleet. The higher proportion of Slerek vessels operating during the west monsoon is associated with their nearshore fishing grounds (within 12 nautical miles) and primary target species (sardines, scads, baby tuna, and skipjack). In contrast, the Sekoci fleet-which primarily targets oceanic tunas-is more active during the east monsoon.

Abstract

Small-scale shrimp fisheries in Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan, not only serve as a vital source of local economic support but also pose potential threats to the sustainability of non-target species caught as bycatch, including the mangrove horseshoe crab (Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda), which is protected in Indonesia. This study aimed to assess the stock status of Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda captured as bycatch in local shrimp fisheries. Data was collected from January to March 2025, with a total of 125 individuals. Results indicated that Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda exhibited a negative allometric growth pattern. The length at first capture ( ) was found to be lower than the length at first maturity ( ). Specifically, was 11.85 cm for trammel nets and 13.52 cm for crab gillnets, while  was 17.59 cm, suggesting that most individuals caught as bycatch had not yet reached gonadal maturity. This condition reflects fishing pressure on the population. Using the Length-Based Spawning Potential Ratio (LB-SPR) method to assess stock status of mangrove horseshoe crab that indicating overexploited (SPR<20). These findings highlight the urgent need for sustainable fisheries management, including regulations on fishing gear and protection measures for bycatch species such as Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda in Kotabaru waters.

Abstract

Cilacap Regency, Central Java, is a major fishing hub, and tropical shrimp, including Jinga shrimp (Metapenaeus affinis), are among the most valuable resources due to their high demand and economic importance. However, penaeid shrimp stocks in the Indonesian Fisheries Management Area (FMA) 573, including Cilacap waters, are reported to be overexploited. This study aims to assess the stock status of Metapenaeus affinis in Cilacap waters using length-based stock assessment methods, including the Length-Based Spawning Potential Ratio (LB-SPR) approach, to evaluate exploitation status relative to biological reference points. Sampling was conducted from December 2024 to March 2025, yielding 2,099 individuals collected from the Tegalkamulyan landing site. Biological parameters, including carapace length, body weight, sex, and gonad maturity stage, were analyzed. The results showed a negative allometric growth pattern (b = 1.5887). The length at first capture (Lc = 34.8 mm CL) was lower than the length at first maturity (L50 = 40.8 mm CL), indicating that most individuals are harvested before reproducing. The estimated spawning potential ratio (SPR) was 6%, confirming severe overexploitation. These findings highlight the urgent need for management measures, such as minimum size limits, improved gear selectivity, and seasonal closures, to ensure sustainable use of shrimp resources in Cilacap waters.

Abstract

Desa Gejugan, Kecamatan Pajarakan, Kabupaten Probolinggo merupakan wilayah pesisir yang mayoritas masyarakatnya berprofesi sebagai nelayan bagan tancap. Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir terjadi penurunan hasil tangkapan akibat overfishing dan degradasi habitat, yang berdampak langsung terhadap kondisi sosial ekonomi masyarakat. Permasalahan ini diperparah oleh minimnya pengetahuan konservasi dan terbatasnya inovasi diversifikasi usaha perikanan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan ekowisata berbasis konservasi sekaligus memulihkan stok ikan melalui pemasangan rumah ikan (artificial reef) sebagai habitat buatan. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) yang melibatkan dosen, pemerintah daerah, dan Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB) nelayan. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi koordinasi stakeholder, pelatihan manajemen Marine Protected Area (MPA), perencanaan dan penenggelaman rumah ikan, restocking larva kepiting, serta pelatihan pengolahan hasil laut. Satu unit rumah ikan berukurang 175 x 93 x 55 cm berhasil dipasang di lokasi yang telah disepakati bersama dan diharapkan berperan sebagai habitat buatan serta  nursery ground bagi ikan dan biota lainnya. Kegiatan restocking dilaksanakan dengan melepas 1.000 ekor larva kepiting di sekitar lokasi penenggelaman. Program ini menginisiasi pengembangan paket ekowisata pancing sebagai alternatif mata pencaharian masyarakat pesisir.  . Secara keseluruhan, seluruh tahapan kegiatan telah terlaksana sesuai rencana dan memperkuat sinergi antara pelestarian lingkungan dan peningkatan lokal Desa Gejugan.   Gejugan Village, located in Pajarakan Subdistrict, Probolinggo Regency, is a coastal area where most residents work as lift-net fishers. In recent years, fish catches have declined due to overfishing and habitat degradation, directly affecting the socio-economic condition of the community. Limited knowledge of conservation practices and a lack of fisheries business diversification have further aggravated the situation. This community service program aimed to develop conservation-based ecotourism while supporting fish stock recovery through the installation of artificial reefs. The program applied a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving academics, local government agencies, and fisher groups. Activities included stakeholder coordination, Marine Protected Area (MPA) management training, artificial reef construction and deployment, crab larvae restocking, and seafood processing training. One unit of artificial reef measuring 175 × 93 × 55 cm was successfully installed at an agreed location and is expected to serve as an artificial habitat and nursery ground for fish and other marine organisms. A total of 1,000 crab larvae were released near the installation site as part of the restocking effort. The program also initiated the development of crab-fishing ecotourism packages as an alternative livelihood for the coastal community. Overall, all planned activities were successfully implemented, strengthening the synergy between environmental conservation and local economic improvement in Gejugan Village.

Mikroplastik memiliki potensi tinggi untuk tersebar merata di perairan dan terakumulasi pada organisme perairan termasuk ikan. Saluran pencernaan dan organ insang merupakan bagian ikan yang seringkali terkontaminasi oleh mikroplastik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis komposisi mikroplastik pada ikan Clupea harengus, Euthynnus affinis, dan Restrelliger brachysoma dengan lokasi yang berbeda diantaranya Pondok Dadap Sendang Biru, Pacitan, dan Mayangan Probolinggo. Analisis dilakukan dengan identifikasi organ dan saluran pencernaan pada ketiga spesies ikan. Komposisi mikroplastik pada sampel organ ikan dianalisis dengan menghancurkan bahan organik melalui perendaman sampel pada laruta H2O2 30% dan larutan Fe (II) 0,05 M selama 24 Jam. Analisis dilanjutkan dengan penyaringan sampel menggunakan kertas Whatman dan identifikasi menggunakan mikroskop (Olympus CX33). Diantara jenis mikroplastik, fiber dan fragmen merupakan jenis mikroplastik yang paling banyak ditemukan pada ikan Clupea harengus, Euthynnus affinis, dan Restrelliger brachysoma dibandingkan dengan jenis film.  Kelimpahan total mikroplastik ditemukan lebih tinggi pada organ dibandingkan pada saluran pencernaan.  Terdapat perbedaan jumlah kelimpahan mikroplastik pada ketiga spesies. Spesies Clupea harengus memiliki kelimpahan mikroplastik tertinggi dibandingkan dengan spesies lainnya. Hal ini dipengaruhi oleh kondisi ikan yang tidak dapat membedakan antara mikroplastik dan plankton sebagai mangsanya. Kebiasaan makan ikan dengan menyaring air di sekitarnya membuat ikan rentan mendapatkan plankton yang terkontaminasi mikroplastik.   Microplastics have a high potential to be evenly distributed in waters and accumulate in aquatic organisms including fish. The digestive tract and gill organs are parts of fish that are often contaminated by microplastics. This study aims to analyze the composition of microplastics in fish Clupea harengus, Euthynnus affinis, and Restrelliger brachysoma with different locations including Pondok Dadap Sendang Biru, Pacitan, and Mayangan Probolinggo. The analysis was conducted by organ identification in the three fish species. The composition of microplastics in fish organ samples was analyzed by destroying organic matter through immersion of samples in 30% H2O2 solution and 0.05 M Fe (II) solution for 24 hours. The analysis was continued by filtering the samples with Whatman paper and identifying them with a microscope (Olympus CX33). Among the types of microplastics, fibers and fragments were the most common types of microplastics found in Clupea harengus, Euthynnus affinis, and Restrelliger brachysoma compared to film types.  The total abundance of microplastics was found to be higher in organs than in the digestive tract.  There were differences in the abundance of microplastics among the three species. Clupea harengus species had the highest abundance of microplastics compared to other species. This is influenced by the condition of the fish, which cannot choose between microplastics and plankton as prey. Fish feeding habits by filtering the surrounding water make fish vulnerable to plankton contaminated with microplastics.
