Abstract

Hati Kudus Yesus or Kayutangan Church is a colonial building in Kayutangan historical tourism area of ??Malang City which is the only building for worship with a distinctive architectural style, namely Neo-Gothic. This study aim to reveal the significance and application of Neo-Gothic architectural style in the church. In addition, this study also reveals the meaning contained in Neo-Gothic architectural elements which have never been discussed in depth by previous studies. Literature review was conducted to formulate characteristics of each Neo-Gothic unit observation, sign’s classification based on objects, and the meaning of Neo-Gothic as church architecture. Field data were obtained through triangulation process, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. Results show that Kayutangan Church has a significant Neo-Gothic architectural identity because it meets 69% of all characteristics standards that focus more on visual and symbolic applications than structural and spatial applications. Religious symbolism is the most dominant meaning in the church’s architectural elements and is most visible in elements with symbolic sign types. Analysis through three stages produce formulation of appropriate preservation actions for Neo-Gothic architectural elements that include aspects that can be changed and cannot be changed as well as the extent to which preservation efforts can be carried out. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendokumentasikan sistem struktur dan konstruksi rumah tradisional Omah Gejug sebagai representasi arsitektur vernakular Madura Pendalungan di Kampung Baran, Kelurahan Buring, Kota Malang. Rumah ini memiliki keunikan dari segi bentuk, material lokal, serta sistem sambungan non-paku yang bersifat fleksibel dan adaptif terhadap iklim tropis. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif-deskriptif naturalistik melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam,dan pengukuran arsitektural. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa struktur Omah Gejug terdiri atas tiga bagian utama: kaki (pondasi umpak), badan (tiang gejug, blandar, dan dinding gedheg), dan kepala (rangka atap limasan). Rumah ini juga terintegrasi dengan struktur sosial keluarga besar (tanean lanjheng). Dokumentasi ini penting sebagai dasar pelestarian arsitektur lokal dan pengembangan kawasan berbasis budaya di wilayah peri-urban. Abstract

Hindu and Buddhist temples across Asia are renowned for their distinctive pinnacle ornaments, which, despite varying names and forms across regions, share a profound equality of symbolic meaning. This qualitative study employs a comparative approach, analyzing diverse architectural examples to uncover and interpret the underlying symbolic meanings of these ornaments on various Hindu and Buddhist temple structures in Asia, such as vat shrines in Cambodia, wa̋t in Thailand, mandir in India and Nepal, pagoda in Japan, and temple and meru in Indonesia and Bali. The findings show that (a) in the human body, the ornament at the top of the temple can be interpreted as the crown of the head element; (b) the ornament at the top of the temple can be interpreted as the top of the mountain; (c) the existence of the ornament at the top of the temple building can be compared to the heaven at the top of Mount Meru; and (d) the ornament at the top of the temple is realized as small, abstract motifs, and has four similar faces. These shared symbolic interpretations underscore a profound underlying cosmological and philosophical unity within Hindu and Buddhist architectural traditions across the Asian continent.

Abstract

Homeyard farming merupakan alternatif usaha untuk memperbaiki nutrisi dan pendapatan keluarga. Pemanfaatan pekarangan adalah upaya meningkatkan pemasukan masyarakat dengan menyediakan pangan, bahan bangunan, obat-obatan dan berkontribusi pada pendapatan kotor rumah tangga. Pengembangan program homeyard farming puyuh ini merupakan usaha pemberdayaan keluarga peternak di sekitar kawasan hutan yang memberikan beberapa manfaat sekaligus. Puyuh sebagai ternak homeyard farming memberikan aspek positif karena modal, luas lahan dan tenaga kerja yang dibutuhkan sedikit, dan dapat dilakukan wanita tani sebagai usaha sambilan. Kegiatan ini dilakukan mulai bulan Mei sampai dengan Desember 2022 di Dusun Karangtekok, Desa Sumberwaru Kecamatan Banyuputih, Situbondo sebagai salah satu desa penyangga Taman Nasional Baluran. Pengembangan farmyard ternak puyuh ini dilakukan oleh kelompok Wanita tani Sri Muljojaya pada 8 orang anggota yang masing masing membudidayakan 250 ekor. Hasil produksi telur puyuh yang dihasilkan diolah menjadi produk pangan olahan berbasis telur puyuh, sehingga mempunyai nilai jual yang lebih tinggi. Melalui pola pengembangan farmyard diharapkan wanita tani ternak berpartisipasi dalam pembangunan desa dan menjadi mandiri secara ekonomi.

Abstract

Bangunan masjid Jami Adji Amir Hasanoeddin merupakan simbol masuknya agama Islam di Kerajaan Kutai Kartanegara yang sebelumnya merupakan kerajaan Hindu tertua di Indonesia. Masuknya Islam di Kerajaan Kutai tentu membawa pengaruh seperti dibangunnya tempat ibadah. Besarnya antusias masyarakat Kutai untuk memperdalam Ilmu Agama Islam menyebabkan bertambahnya kebutuhan ruang yang awalnya hanya musholla kecil di tepi Sungai Mahakam, hingga dibangunnya Masjid Jami Adji Amir Hasanoeddin. Kini Masjid Jami Adji Amir Hasanoeddin telah ditetapkan sebagai bangunan Cagar Budaya, sehingga penting untuk diteliti bagaimana karakter spasial masjid setelah mengalami pembangunan besar-besaran. Metode penelitian menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif dengan observasi dan wawancara terkait keadaan asli bangunan, yang dilandasi dengan teori yang berkaitan dengan karakter spasial. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa pembentuk karakter spasial dalam arsitektur Masjid Timur Tengah menjadi penentu dan katalis bagi proses pembangunan peradaban Islam yang terletak pada fungsi dengan semua dimensinya. Abstract

The Community Service Program was carried out in Wonorejo Village, Banyuputih District, Situbondo. The program implementer is a Community Service team and students participating in MMD 1000 Villages in 2023 funded by MMD 1000 Villages Grant Universitas Brawijaya. The target recipients of the program are members of the Soponyono Kendal farmers group that produces organic fertilizer and the purpose of the program was to aid facilities and training for effective organic fertilizers processing acivities. The methods used are Focus Group Discussion, hybrid extension, providing modules, providing production advice, and assistance in making NIB/BIN (Business Identification Number) as legalization of business production. The result is that the program has succeeded in achieving the planned output target. Moreover, this activity is also able to involve the village government and BABINSA (Bintara Pembina Desa/Village Development Officer).

Abstract

This paper explores the Brutalism architectural style. This style became popular in the 1950-1970s with the start of experimentation with building materials in line with the social movements of that time. This research uses an exploratory approach based on a longitudinal study of similar studies. The discussion focused on the architects' revolutionary thinking towards unique designs through form manipulation and material exploration. The results of his work show the determination of form seekers, material experimentation, and the enthusiasm of young architects for monumental architecture. Massive and unadorned reinforced concrete frames, simplicity, minimal ornamentation, small windows, and rough surfaces are usually used for government buildings, institutions, and high-rise housing. The popularity of Brutalism spread to the Far East. The formation of Brutalist architecture in Malaysia left its mark on the urban landscape, but developed into a combination of architectural compositions in architectural pedagogy.

Abstract

Jawi Temple as a relic of the Singasari Kingdom is vertically composed of three levels of buildings, namely the base, body, and roof which are terraced, tall and slender, and towering, resulting in the idea to conduct a study related to the symbolic meaning in the form of the three segments. This article is a summary of the results of qualitative research on the interpretation of the symbolic meaning of the three segments of the Jawi Temple building. The results of the study obtained show that (a) the three levels of the Jawi Temple building are interpreted as the feet, body, and top of the mountain; (b) the three levels of the Jawi Temple building are interpreted as the feet, body, and head of humans; (c) Jawi Temple contains symbolic meaning as the natural levels of Bhūrloka, Bhuvarloka, and Svarloka in Hinduism and the natural levels of Kamaloka, Rupaloka, and Arupaloka in Buddhism; (d) Jawi Temple is a symbolization of Mount Meru which has a foot, body, and peak which in its top area is the location of the Kingdom of Heaven; and (e) the four similar faces of Jawi Temple are symbolic of Cosmogony in Hinduism and the embodiment of Lord Brahmā.

Abstract

Bullying remains a critical issue in Indonesian schools, with spatial environments often influencing its occurrence. This study investigates the spatial distribution of bullying incidents across two public junior high schools in Malang City by using map-based surveys and spatial analysis. Data were collected through student questionnaires that identified bullying experiences and locations, followed by Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) using ArcGIS to identify bullying hotspots. The findings reveal that bullying is not randomly distributed but clusters in specific school areas such as classrooms, corridors, staircases, toilets, canteens, sports fields, and mosques. Physical bullying was more frequent in secluded, less supervised zones, while psychological bullying was concentrated in classrooms and semi-public social spaces. The study emphasizes the importance of spatial characteristics and supervision in shaping bullying patterns. It concludes that KDE is a valuable tool for informing design strategies and preventive interventions to create safer, more inclusive school-built environments.

Abstract

Perumahan dan pemukiman adalah elemen penting di daerah di daerah perkotaan maupun pedesaan. Penyelesaian perumahan Selain berfungsi sebagai tempat perumahan perumahan, ia juga berfungsi sebagai fungsi sosial-komunitas, seperti fungsi ekonomi dan fungsi lainnya (hubungan, Doxiadis dan Logan-Molotoch). Bahkan, pembangunan rumah tidak selalu mencapai kesuksesan. Ini terjadi secara khusus dalam perumahan diri sendiri, yaitu, perumahan yang dalam proses akuisisi dilakukan secara independen oleh masyarakat sebagai penduduk di mana pengembangan perumahan dianggap sebagai proses (perumahan per proses). Kegagalan pembangunan kontrol diri dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor, termasuk keberadaan keterbatasan ekonomi masyarakat di rumah konstruksi, kondisi sumber daya alam yang tidak mendukung untuk mengatur perumahan atau bahkan keterbatasan kualitas dan jumlah manusia. Sumber daya di sekitar rumah. Misalnya, perbandingan, jika kita mengamati fisika dan tipologi perumahan di daerah perkotaan dan di daerah pinggiran kota / pedesaan, tidak diragukan lagi, akan sangat berbeda. Secara umum, perumahan di daerah perkotaan telah mencapai syarat untuk mencapai pengembangan yang lebih baik daripada di daerah pinggiran kota / pedesaan.
