Abstract

This study investigates the crucial function of the Public Relations (PR) Department of one of the Municipal administration offices in East Java in resolving issues between the administration and the public. The PR department is essential in overseeing the public perception by guaranteeing the clear and efficient distribution of information on government acts, policies, and initiatives.  The study is on the PR department's dual role as both an expert prescriber and a communication facilitato to improve government-public relations and mediate conflicts. The study employed a qualitative research methodology, which involved conducting interviews to investigate the role of the PR department. The findings suggest that the department is responsible for creating and executing communication strategies for the Mayor's office. They serve as a mediator between government officials and the public. The department also promotes the resolution of problems by working for the interests of both the government and the public, creating transparency and trust. Ultimately, the PR Department of the Municipal administration office is crucial for improving communication and maintaining constructive relations between the government and the public. The study suggests that enhancing strategic communication planning and implementing transparency measures would be beneficial in reinforcing public trust and promoting active participation.

Abstract

Nyadran Sonoageng tradition is a Javanese ritual that combines spiritual values, local culture and Islamic teachings. This study uses a sociocultural approach with communication ethnography method to explore the Nyadran tradition in maintaining social harmony in the midst of changing times. Based on James W. Carey's ritual communication perspective, this study found that symbolic elements such as jolen offerings, processions, and kenduri act as a medium of symbolic communication capable of transmitting collective values. Cross-generational participation in this ritual shows that Nyadran's role as a space to build communication harmony and maintain cultural continuity in a society. The transformation of implementation from simple or traditional to modernization in the implementation of Nyadran, such as the integration of entertainment elements and folk markets, shows the flexibility of tradition in responding to the dynamics of modernization.

Abstract

Disaster risk communication is an important thing to convey to the public so that they can recognize the potential and threats of disaster risk in the surrounding area. This research aims to analyze disaster risk communication strategies in the Disaster Resilient Village Program which has been carried out by BPBD Batu City in the Sidomulyo Flower Tourism Village. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to explore the communication strategies implemented to increase awareness and disaster preparedness among the people of Sidomulyo Flower Tourism Village. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the study show that the disaster risk communication strategy can be said to be effective because it is accurate and open. However, the BPBD Batu City is unable to reach all levels of society and has not established relationships with conventional media. This has been analyzed using five critical assumptions by Haddow and Haddow (2014), namely Customer Focus, Leadership Commitment, Inclusion of Communication Planning and Operations, Situational Awarness, and Media Partnership.

Abstract

The research aims to explore content management within the digital media landscape of Indonesia, with a specific focus on the strategies employed by Kapanlagi Youniverse (KLY), a renowned digital media platform. Technology is viewed as the paramount factor in implementing communication technology, encompassing the rise of digital media as a transformative force. Employing a descriptive qualitative methodology, this study conducted interviews with eight members of the management team. The findings reveal that KLY utilises three primary strategies: lifestyle entertainment, general news, and sports, which diversify information for readers without limiting the number of operated sites. These findings align with the Long Tail Theory of new media business models, suggesting that expanding reach to previously untapped audiences can lead to success. Effective exploration of the long-tail market requires organisations to address consumer needs at minimal cost. This study presents two key propositions: mergers and acquisitions impact organisational structure and media content, and these changes can be enhanced by applying long tail theory principles.

Abstract

News values refer to a set of criteria intended to evaluate the newsworthiness of an event, hence determining its suitability for publication. For instance, a case of sexual violence in Indonesia received significant attention and is considered noteworthy, warranting its reporting. This study aims to discover the significance of news articles pertaining to sexual violence and determine the linguistic construction of news value within the context of online media platform detik.com. The researchers collected headlines and lead paragraphs from all 27 online news articles published throughout July 2022 that were selected since July had the highest number of sexual violence incidents. The articles were qualitatively analysed through discursive news value analysis technique (DNVA) which examines the connotations of diction choices and the impact on readers’ understanding. The study revealed that six out of the 10 news values were present in reports on sexual violence in Indonesia. These news values include personalisation, proximity, eliteness, positivity, unexpectedness, and timeliness. This study also shows that news articles share an emphasis on personalisation and proximity. Research limitation includes the process of defining news values and subjectively evaluating sources based on the definitions.

Abstract

Abstract

The growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) makes business actors want to optimize profits. The limitations of raw materials and resources encourage business actors to review their strategies in order to generate optimal profits. The main purpose of the study is to calculate the optimal profit from the banapuff business and provide business strategic recommendations for the combination of products produced in order to generate optimal profits. The calculation of optimal profit will use linear programming with the simplex method, because the simplex method can confuse optimization calculations with many variables and constraints. The results of the study show that UMKM businesses can increase production profits by RP380,000.00 per production with the provision of producing 57.5 puffed bananas, 12.5 chocolate bananas and 20 sesame chocolate bananas. With this result, it is hoped that business actors will get a new business strategy in the efficiency of raw materials and the combination of product production through a systematic approach.

Abstract

The rise of mobile-first platforms has transformed how Business-to-Business (B2B) communication operates, including the persuasive mechanisms involved. Instagram, a platform typically associated with lifestyle content, is increasingly used by professionals and enterprises for branding and talent marketing. However, most persuasion models, including the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM), have not accounted for such digital shifts. ELM traditionally views persuasion as a single-message effect, underestimating the role of repetition, platform structure, and cumulative engagement. This study aims to examine the persuasive architecture of B2B content on Instagram through the case of @AcademyBINAR, an Indonesian digital education platform that adopted an enterprise communication strategy between June and December 2024. The research employs content analysis and linear trend regression to measure the prevalence of rational vs. emotional appeals and central vs. peripheral cues, alongside engagement trends over time. The findings reveal a dominance of rational appeals and central cues, coupled with statistically significant growth in likes, saves, and shares indicating that elaboration is not immediate, but cumulative. This study contributes to the theoretical refinement of ELM by proposing a temporally responsive framework in which professional persuasion is driven by consistency, message utility, and platform-specific repetition. It also offers practical insights for B2B content strategists operating in visual-first digital environments.
