Abstract

This research is entitled ''The Myth of the Muna People Against Lake Motonuno''. The purpose of the study was to reveal the knowledge of the Muna people about the Myth of Lake Motonuno and the reasons for still maintaining this belief. This study reads the data with the thought of Radclive Brown, with the ethnographic method. The results of the study, the knowledge of the Muna people about Lake Motonuno as a sacred place that was passed down from generation to generation. The existence of Lake Motonuno is because people use it as a source of life so that it raises things that are taboo in the form of myths to maintain the wisdom of Lake Motonuno. This is in accordance with Radclive Brown's proposal on the term value ritual. Whatever a person in material terms, a place, a word or a name, an occasion or event, a day of the week or a period of year that is the object of a taboo avoidance ritual can be said to have a value ritual. Radclive Brown also states that there is a belief that violating a taboo will result in undesirable changes for the person who violates it. So, for generations, people still believe in the myth of Lake Motonuno.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the existence of women who make pots from clay in Lapole Village, Maligano District, Muna Regency. In addition, this study also used the ethnographic method. Data collection was carried out using observation techniques and in-depth interviews. There are currently only 7 female prick makers left and they are also classified as people who are entering the elderly age, where the prick makers have an average age of 50 to 72 years, at this age they still make prick with knowledge. and modest tools. The millennial generation's lack of involvement and knowledge of traditional cooking utensils is deplorable because it can eliminate one of the cultural heritages given by their ancestors. The government's role is also very much needed in cultural preservation, namely as a protector, policy maker, and facilitator supporting national culture preservation. The hope is that the original culture of the Indonesian nation can be maintained so that the prick as a traditional cooking utensil will not become extinct from modern human civilization. The existence of prick makers in modern times is starting to be lacking. However, prick makers are still making this prick due to several orders from neighboring villages, so prick makers are still making them but are limited so it can be said that this prick cannot be marketed widely.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the children of beggars in Kendari City, and to find out and describe the causes of children becoming beggars in Kendari City. The theory used in this study is Oscar Lewi's (1988) cultural theory, that poverty that occurs in society is not solely due to the economy, but rather the existence of deficiencies in one's culture and psychology so as to form a culture that is passed down from generation to generation through socialization. The method used in this qualitative descriptive research is trying to reveal why there are still many child beggars in Kendari City who take to the streets to beg, and how child beggars socialize with their families and neighbors. Data collection techniques were carried out in several ways, namely by using observation methods and in-depth interviews which aim to obtain accurate data, observation of participation by observing child beggars and their relationships with other beggars and their families. Based on the research results obtained in this study, the factors that cause the existence of these child beggars are parents' income that is not sufficient to meet their needs, jobs that are easy to do and strategic location selection. In addition, there is family socialization and peer socialization.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to gain insight into the challenges that female traveling junjung fish vendors encounter while selling fish and strategize solutions for resolving these issues while also assisting with household chores. This study interprets the data through the lens of Carol Steack's (1974) perspective on social organizations. The present study employs observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as methods of data collection. The findings of this study indicate that women engaged in the trade of junjung fish in Gunung Jati Village fulfill their domestic responsibilities while performing their labor, which consists of selling fish. As a result, these women are capable of providing economic assistance to their families. Female vendors of junjung fish encounter challenges such as purchasers seeking to borrow funds and weariness from arduous mountain ascending. In order to address this issue, the women who sell junjung fish in Gunung Jati Village have devised a strategy: in the event that they experience fatigue while ascending the mountain, they will pause for an estimated duration of one to five minutes along the side of the road to refuel. Additionally, they have devised a method to appease customers who persistently seek financial assistance: persuade purchasers that if the junjung fish vendors consent to indebtedness on their fish, they will receive a refund
