Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of women, the representation of nature, and the relationship between women and nature in the legend of Dewi Sri based on an ecofeminist analysis. This study is motivated by the importance of literary studies that explore the relationship between women and the environment in the folklore of the Indonesian archipelago. The legend of Dewi Sri was chosen because it presents women as symbols of fertility and guardians of the survival of agrarian communities. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method. The data sources consist of the text of the Dewi Sri legend obtained through literature review. Data collection was conducted using the observe-and-record technique, while data analysis utilized an interactive analysis model encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that women in the legend of Dewi Sri are represented as symbols of life, fertility, and protectors of agrarian communities. Nature is represented as a source of life, a spiritual space, and a symbol of community well-being. The relationship between women and nature in the legend of Dewi Sri demonstrates a harmonious connection built upon the values of fertility, protection, care, and the sustainability of life. The ecofeminist perspective in this legend demonstrates that women and nature are two interrelated elements crucial to maintaining the balance of life in the agrarian communities of the Nusantara. This study is expected to contribute to the development of ecofeminist studies in Indonesian oral literature, particularly in Nusantara folklore. Abstract

The low level of understanding and skills among MSME actors in building product branding is one of the factors weakening business competitiveness, especially in terms of visual identity and packaging. This has the potential to hamper business continuity. This condition is experienced by the UPPKS Lestari Jaya group in Bantul, Yogyakarta, most of whose businesses do not yet have logos, packaging designs, or focused branding strategies, making it difficult for them to compete in a wider market. This community service program aims to improve the capacity of MSME players in designing products and services with selling value. The implementation methods include needs analysis, practice-based training, mentoring, and evaluation. The activity was attended by 20 business actors with business categories including processed foods, fashion products, and household services. The program results showed that all participants successfully produced branding outputs in the form of 20 business logos, product packaging designs, and visual identities that matched the characteristics of their respective businesses. The evaluation of the results showed an increase in the visual quality of the businesses in terms of brand identity clarity, design suitability, and visual appeal. This community service program has had an impact on improving the readiness of partner MSMEs to market their products and services more competitively and has become the basis for sustainable business development.

Abstract

Writing training at the high school level in Yogyakarta has been going well. However, there are many problems in its implementation due to the lack of competitive motivation among teachers or school institutions. This lack of motivation causes teachers' self-confidence to decrease and students are not optimal in the process of increasing literacy. This article is the output of writing training in schools for SMA/SMK/MA teachers in an effort to increase student literacy which can create motivation for students to think critically and achieve. By using a participatory action research approach, this community (PKM) seeks to overcome demotivation regarding the ability to write scientific papers and essays at the high school level in Yogyakarta which is caused by many students who are not interested and are less competitive in the field of writing. The results of PKM that have been achieved are increased motivation of teachers and students’ writing abilities, especially in the context of writing and presentation competitions. This PKM has also succeeded in creating collaboration between institutions, both between schools and between private institutions, which will be managed in the future in the context of developing writing and increasing student literacy.

Abstract

Descriptive writing in Phase D requires students to observe objects, select relevant details, and organize ideas coherently. In practice, the teaching materials available in schools remain fragmented across textbooks, worksheets, slides, and sample texts, and therefore do not form a single sequence that guides students through the writing process. This study maps teachers' and students' needs for Google Sites-based interactive teaching materials as the basis for subsequent product development. It was designed as a preliminary needs analysis situated in the Analyze phase of the ADDIE model, employing a descriptive qualitative approach supported by a quantitative survey. Data were gathered through questionnaires completed by 177 seventh-grade students and eight Indonesian language teachers across ten public and private junior secondary schools and madrasahs in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, supplemented by document analysis. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, with source and method triangulation. The findings reveal a paradox of need: most students and teachers rated their learning resources as appropriate (90.4% and 87.5%), yet only some actually used materials designed specifically for writing (69.5% and 62.5%), while open-ended responses uncovered concrete writing difficulties among 81.9% of the students. The availability of learning resources therefore does not amount to the availability of tools that guide the writing process. The most prominent need concerns explicit step-by-step writing guidance and visual support as observational stimuli rather than attractive presentation. The novelty of this study lies in formulating an empirically grounded needs framework, integrated, sequential, multimodal, and contextual, that positions Google Sites as an organizer of the writing process rather than a repository of materials.
