Abstract

An accurate analysis of the communication network will facilitate the process of disseminating information about feed and medicines. This study aims to analyze the roles, identify clicks, and analyze the structure of the communication network for feed and medicines formed among conservationists of karapan cattle in Sampang Regency. This study uses a quantitative method with descriptive analysis. The sampling method uses the snowball sampling method. The respondents of this study were 26 conservationists of Karapan cattle in Sampang Regency. The data analysis method used in this research is sociometric analysis. The results of the study show that: (1) the feed and medicine communication network in Sampang Regency has the roles of opinion leaders, bridges, and neglectees; (2) the clicks generated in the feed communication network are 20 clicks, while the clicks contained in the drug communication network are 4 clicks; (3) the pattern of the feed communication network is all channels and wheels while the pattern of the drug communication network is wheels. The density value in the feed communication network is 0.128 which is higher than the drug communication network which is 0.057. The diameter formed in the feed communication network is 6 while in the drug communication network it is 5, which means that the farthest distance a conservationist can contact other conservationists in the feed communication network is 6 steps while in the drug communication network it is 5 steps. The degree of connectedness in the feed communication network was 89.4%, lower than the drug communication network of 24.9%, indicating that the dissemination of feed information was better than the dissemination of information about medicines.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyse the local economic development strategy through the empowerment of Balung Kuwuk MSMEs in Drenges Village. Methodology/approach: This study employed a qualitative descriptive method utilising a case study approach. Data collection techniques included observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The analysis of data to determine the development strategy for Balung Kuwuk MSMEs was conducted using a SWOT analysis, combined with the Internal-External Matrix, to formulate context-specific empowerment strategies for rural MSMEs. Results/findings: The findings indicate that Balung Kuwuk MSMEs possess significant potential to drive the local economy in Drenges Village, supported by the abundant availability of cassava as the primary raw material. Nevertheless, community empowerment efforts to develop these MSMEs have not been effectively implemented, necessitating an aggressive strategy to strengthen and expand their capacity. Conclusion: Balung Kuwuk MSMEs can serve as a strategic driver of the local economy if supported by targeted, aggressive, and sustainable development strategies that fully empower MSME actors, strengthen institutional capacity, and optimise available local resources effectively Limitations: This case study has a narrow geographical scope, being limited to a single village, and therefore cannot be generalised to other rural or urban areas with different social, economic, cultural, and natural conditions and potentials. Contribution: This study provides input for government institutions and related agencies to support the development of Balung Kuwuk MSMEs in Drenges Village, aiming to improve human resource capacity and consistently enhance product quality.

Abstract

The success of community empowerment programs, particularly CSR, heavily relies on the collective action of local groups. Mancur Olson's (1971) theory of collective action prioritizes small, homogeneous, and focused groups, but it often fails to explain sociological realities in the field, especially in Indonesia. This article critiques Olson using qualitative data from three CSR beneficiary groups of an Oil Refinery Company in Bengkalis, Riau Province, Indonesia. Although the Tunas Makmur Farmers Group and the Harapan Bersama Fishermen Group support Olson's theory, the case of the formal, heterogeneous Masyarakat Peduli Api (MPA) group challenges this logic, as its effectiveness is not correlated with size. The main argument is that Olson's model is incomplete. The success of collective action is determined by sociological prerequisites: social relations or social capital (norms, trust, networks). Homogeneity is merely a proxy for strong social relations. Therefore, Collective Action Theory must be modified by integrating social relations as the determining foundation for the functioning of Olson's determinants

Abstract

The number of restaurants has increased recently and leads to a pierce competition in this business. To be more competitive, restaurant owners need to pay more attention on customer satisfaction. This study is aimed to examine customer satisfaction in restaurants using three variables, namely food quality, services, and environment facilities in a restaurant. Unlike studies in this area the variables were evaluated using food safety criteria where the customers’s knowledge about food safety issues were measured to analyze whether it affects the customer perception and satisfaction. The importance-performance analysis (IPA) is used to explain which attributes that need to be improved after mapping the customer expectations and perceptions. Implementing IPA to could help restaurant owners to concentrate on improving the priority quality attributes, i.e., the attributes that are important for customers but have relatively low performance. A questionnaire with food safety perspective question were distributed to 400 customers and 395 questioner were completed. The IPA Diagram reveals that the higher the consumer's knowledge the more attributes were suggested to be improved.

Abstract

Developing a Closed Loop Partnership Model for Organic Rice through Farmer Facilitation at Rojolele Studio in Delanggu Village. Rojolele rice development often faces problems in quality and operations. The closed-loop partnership model is one solution through the integration of the supply and value chain ecosystem from upstream to downstream, which mutually benefits all parties, including farmer groups. The Community Partnership Program by the Sebelas Maret University Service Team was carried out to facilitate increasing the competency and partnership of Sanggar Rojolele Delanggu farmers by implementing good agricultural practices (GAP) for organic rice products standardized by the Organic Certification Institute in Indonesia. Purposes of service: (1) increasing the hard skills & soft skills of farmers in developing organic Rojolele rice, (2) increasing productivity and farmer income, as long as (3) guaranteeing market certainty with competitive prices. The implementation method is through: (1) extension and training of farmers in the form of experiential learning through demonstration plots of organic Rojolele rice, (2) mentoring of low input Rojolele rice cultivation based on organic farming, and (3) facilitation of marketing networks for organic Rojolele rice harvest products with off taker PT. WSS Indonesia refers to quality standards according to SNI. The results of extension, training, and facilitation for farmers show an increase in farmers' knowledge and skills in implementing GAP for organic rice products and an increase in market absorption of products at higher prices.
