Abstract

ABSTRACTKubu Raya is a regency located on the outskirts of Pontianak City, West Kalimantan. geographically, the people of Kubu Raya Regency have diverse cultures, customs, tribes and religions. With this diversity, challenges and obstacles may arise in the simultaneous regional elections because of a lack of understanding of the regional election process and different choices of candidates, causing conflict between communities in 2024. In addition, social media and technology can accelerate the spread of intolerant and hateful news for specific individuals or groups. Community Service aims to provide socialization to students as new voters are believed to be the spearheads of the success of the simultaneous regional elections. It used several methods, including interactive discussion activities with participants and displaying photos of the regional election candidates at the Governor and the district head level in 2024. It concluded that participants did not know the candidate pairs' names in the regional elections' photos at the gubernatorial and district levels. After socialization, the participants obtained information and knowledge about the names of the candidate pairs, their rights and responsibilities as citizens in the regional election process and the participants as new voters committing to participate in the regional elections. They declared they would not abstain from voting.Keywords: Strengthening Political Education, New Voters, Quality and MeaningfulABSTRAKKabupaten Kubu Raya adalah kota yang secara geografis sebagai kabupaten yang berada dipinggiran Kota Pontianak Kalimantan Barat. Sehingga secara geografis masyarakat Kabupaten Kubu Raya memiliki keberagaman budaya, adat, suku serta agama. Dengan keberagaman tersebut memungkinkan saja muncul tantangan dan kendala ke depan pada Pilkada serentak 2024, berupa ketidakpahaman terhadap pendidikan politik dan perbedaan pilihan paslon dapar menimbulkan konflik antar masyaraka, selain itu media sosial dan teknologi juga dapat mempercepat tersebasrnya berita yang bersifat intoleran yang menyebarkan berita kebencian terhadap individu maupun kelompok tertentu. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah memberikan sosialisasi kepada masyarakat yakni pemilih pemula sebagai pelajar yang diyakini sebagai ujuk tombak kesuksesan pelaksanaan Pilkada serentak 2024. Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini menggunakan beberapa metode, di antaranya kegiatan diskusi interaktif dengan membuka ruang tanya jawab dengan peserta, menampilkan foto maupun gambar paslon pilkada tingkat Gubernur maupun tingkat kepala daerah kabupaten. Kegiatan pengabdian menghasilkan simpulan yakni, bahwa peserta pengabdian tidak mengenal nama paslon foto maupun gambar pilkada baik itu tingkat gubernur dan tingkat kabupaten, setelah dilakukannya sosialiasi peserta memperoleh informasi dan pengetahuan tentang nama paslon, hak dan tanggung jawab sebagai warga negara dalam proses pilkada, dan peserta sebagai pemilih pemula berkomitmen untuk memberikan hal pilih suaranya di pilkada 2024 dan menyatakan diri tidak golput.Kata Kunci: Pendidikan Politik; Bermakna dan Berkualitas;  Pemilih Pemula

Abstract

Specifically, the purpose of this research was to explore information, regarding the implementation of the Recitation Method in Civics learning on 10th IPS1 grade students, and improving students’ learning outcomes on 10th IPS1 grade students by applying the Recitation Method. This research used classroom action research method, conducted in two cycles, each cycle consist of one meeting. The research subjects were the students of 10th IPS1 grade students  of SMA Negeri 4 Kubu Raya with simple random sampling technique. The research data collection used were observation sheets, objective tests and material summary assignments. Observation sheets used to collect data on the application of the Recitation Method in Civics learning, assignment assessment results sheets and objective tests also used to collect data on students’ learning outcomes. The research data was processed by using descriptive statistics. The results shows improvements in students’ learning outcomes by applying the Recitation Method in the percentage of 25%, based from the learning outcomes results of students who had met the Minimum Achievement Criteria. Therefore, the Recitation Method is able to be used as an effective solution for teachers in improving student learning outcomes.
