Abstract

Early menarche is the first menstruation in women in early adolescence that occurs under the age of 12 years. Nutritional status / BMI (Body Mass Index) can affect the occurrence of early menarche through the rate of growth and sexual maturity, which is an indicator of the occurrence of menarche. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship of nutritional status with the incidence of early menarche in elementary school students. This type of study is analytical observational with cross-sectional study design. The sample of this study amounted to 110 elementary school students with early menarche and 110 elementary school students who experienced normal menarche. Data analysis was done by univariate and bivariate using the Spearman rank correlation test. The results of the analysis show that there is a relationship between nutritional status and early menarche incidence in elementary school students (p = 0.001, rs = -0.321). If children have more nutritional status, they will have an age of early menarche. It is hope that respondents who have excess nutritional status, control the consumption of foods containing fat.

Abstract

Primary care dentists are the first destination for patients having dental and oral health problems. The primary dental health service also functions as a referral filter to advanced health facilities. Implementation of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in primary health care facilities has not been optimal, such as surveillance is not running well, data on infection incidence in primary health care has not been collected, and there is no supervision. This study aims to analyze the adherence of primary care dentists to the Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines at dental and oral health services. The research design was descriptive-analytic research with quantitative methods based on a cross-sectional study. Data collection was conducted from November to December 2022. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total sample of 102 primary care dentists who had been collected from a total population of 147 primary care dentists in Semarang City. The research was conducted by filling out a closed questionnaire. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square test and logistic regression test. There were significant relationships between perception (p=0.019), attitude (p=0.000), organizational support (p=0.011), clinic owner support (p=0.004), and dental facilities and health infrastructure (p=0.000) with adherence of primary care dentists to the Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines, whereas knowledge (p=0.748) had no relationship with the adherence of primary care dentists to the Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines. It concludes that primary care dentists in Semarang City have good adherence to Infection Prevention Control Guideline but that guidelines have not been implemented optimally. Keywords:  Adherence Dentist, Healthcare-Associated Infections, Infection Control

Abstract

The effectiveness of tuberculosis (TB) management and control programs is influenced by several factors, including sociocultural problems that affect delays in diagnosis and treatment and increased transmission risk in the community. How people viewed diseases and seeking behavior was socially constructed. The scoping review aims to understand the extent and type of evidence about the sociocultural implications of TB management and control programs. To address the research questions, a scoping review was conducted following PRISMA ScR as a guideline. Articles were searched in PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases. Searches were conducted in October 2022. The CASP checklist was used to measure the article's quality before being reviewed. A total of 15 articles were included, nine (9) studies conducted in Africa, two (2) studies in Papua New Guinea, one (1) study in India, one (1) study in Brazil, one (1) study in Yemen, and one (1) study in Nepal. Most studies were based on individual interviews (7), and three (3) studies included traditional/faith healer perspectives. Three main themes have been identified; sociocultural factors affected TB prevention, sociocultural factors affected TB-seeking behavior, and sociocultural factors affected treatment adherence. The review discovered that community practices, norms, and attitudes regarding perceived sickness impact TB care and control. To be effective and meaningful for the target population, the intervention must be attentive to cultural differences.

Abstract

Background: Electrocardiography (ECG) is an essential objective diagnosis tool, specifically for the elderly who are about to undergo surgery. From the examination results, it is possible to determine the presence of a heart condition that could impair the surgical outcome. Furthermore, the examination is slightly influenced by the subjectivity of observers. Purpose: To evaluate the inter-observer agreement on the reader of a 12-lead ECG on elderly patients subjected to elective surgery. Method: A consequential ECG examination was conducted on elderly patients who underwent elective surgery at Dr. Kariadi Hospital  Semarang between July and November 2021. Two junior internist observers were independently involved in reading the ECG results in different places. The inter-observer reliability analysis used kappa statistics to determine consistency between observers. Result: Analysis was carried out on 193 patients aged  60-87 years old, with a prevalence of abnormal ECG was 33.7%. Kappa Conformity Value was 0.864 (95 % CI: 0.790-0.938,  p<0.001). Conclusion: The value of agreement between junior internists in ECG interpretation among elderly surgical patients is good (kappa value  >0.8). Even though the observers are junior internist, the result of the interpretation with a high kappa is considered to have reliable validity.

Abstract

Background: Posyandu cadres still lack the skills to measure anthropometry. Not all cadres received regular training.  Objectives: This study aims to develop a training model to improve the skills of Posyandu cadres in conducting anthropometric measurements. Methods: This study used a research and development approach with two main stages. The first stage was the development of the training model. The second stage was field testing of the new training model, using a pretest-posttest control group design. The training model in the form of Training of trainers (ToT) was tested to 49 cadres in the treatment and control groups with expert resource persons, followed by grassroots training with 142 cadres in the treatment group and 146 cadres in the control group with resource persons from the ToT participants. The intervention lasted three months. The effect of applying the training model on changes in the ability of cadres in anthropometric measurements was analyzed using the General Linear Model with a significant p-value <0.05. Results: The developed anthropometry training model is tiered training, including ToT followed by grassroots training. Through the implementation of this training model, the number of trained cadre participants increased threefold. The results of the tiered anthropometry training model trial proved to improve knowledge, attitude, practice, self-efficacy, as well as the precision and accuracy of measuring the length, height, and weight of children by Posyandu cadres (p<0.05). Conclusions: The implementation of a tiered anthropometry training model can increase cadre participants and improve the capacity of cadres in measuring child anthropometry.
