Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of real-time video feedback on improving serve accuracy and movement biomechanics in junior tennis athletes. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-test–post-test control group design. The study sample consisted of 20 junior tennis athletes aged 14–16 years in Makassar City who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected through the Hewitt Serve Test, biomechanical observations, and video documentation analyzed using Kinovea software. The experimental group was given real-time video feedback-based training for 8 weeks, while the control group underwent conventional training. Data analysis used a paired sample t-test and Cohen's d at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed a significant increase in serve accuracy from 62.4% to 81.7%. In addition, trunk rotation increased by 18%, elbow angle by 12%, and movement timing coordination by 15%. A t-value of 9.21 and Cohen's d of 3.22 indicate that the use of real-time video feedback significantly impacts the quality of junior tennis athletes' service techniques. The implications of this study suggest that the use of real-time video technology can be an effective training strategy to improve technical performance, biomechanical evaluation, and coaching efficiency of young tennis athletes.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the caterpillar game in improving forward roll learning outcomes among Grade 3 students at UPT SPF SDI Sambung Jawa 3, Makassar City. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design with two cycles using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting stages. The research subjects were 28 Grade 3 students comprising 13 male and 15 female students. Assessment instruments covered three domains: cognitive (30%), affective (20%), and psychomotor (50%), with a minimum learning mastery criterion (KKTP) of 80. Results demonstrated significant improvement from the pre-cycle to Cycle II. In the pre-cycle condition, only 3 students (10.7%) achieved the KKTP; this increased to 15 students (53.6%) in Cycle I; and reached 27 students (96.4%) in Cycle II. The caterpillar game proved effective in improving forward roll learning outcomes as the playful approach successfully reduced fear, increased motivation, and developed the fundamental movement coordination required for the forward roll technique.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Fine motor coordination supports children's early writing, self-care, and precise object manipulation, yet it may receive limited structured practice in elementary physical education. This study described changes in fine motor coordination during Bola Serimbang, a traditional Indonesian ball-and-stones game. Methods: Classroom action research following the Kemmis and McTaggart model was implemented over three cycles and nine meetings with 63 first-grade students (34 girls and 29 boys) at SD Negeri 2 Kebun Lama, Langsa City. Ten progressive game stages emphasized grasping, controlled release, tossing, catching, and stone manipulation. Fine motor performance was assessed using a four-indicator observation rubric. The practical success criterion was at least 70% of students reaching Developing as Expected (BSH) or Very Well Developed (BSB). Results: The cycle summary tables indicated that the proportion reaching BSH or BSB increased from 47.62% (30/63) at the end of Cycle I to 57.14% (36/63) in Cycle II and 85.71% (54/63) in Cycle III. At the end of Cycle III, 25.40% reached BSH and 60.32% reached BSB, while no students remained in the Undeveloped category. Conclusions: Within this single-group classroom action research, higher end-of-cycle category distributions were observed during progressively changing tasks. Bola Serimbang may offer a low-cost, culturally relevant activity for elementary physical education, but source-record verification and controlled, blinded studies are needed before causal effectiveness can be established.
