Abstract

Swietenia mahagoni is thetype of plant that fast growing. Swietenia mahagoni usefull ranging from seeds, leaves and stems. Society in general just let Swietenia mahagoni seeds to grow naturally without treatment to the seeds. The best seed treatment is by using plants that contain a disinfectant or antiseptic and easly found around the environment, including the Piper betle Linn. This study aimed to determined the soaking effect of Swietenia mahagoni seeds in Piper betle Linn. water toward of seed quality and determined the best time term of long soaked seeds in Piper betle Linn. water to keep seed quality. This research compiled in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatment and 4 replications. Treatment consists of soaking the seeds for 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes and 40 minutes. Data were analyzed by Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA), than continued with DNMRT double distance test at 5% level. The result showed that the soaking of Swietenia mahagoni seeds affect the quality of seeds, proved by the percentage of seeds germinated better. The best seed soaking times is 40 minutes with the percentage of germination 85,5%, speed germination 14,98 days and seedling height 11,29 cm.Keywords: Swietenia mahagoni, Piper betle Linn., Seed Quality

Abstract

Timor deer (Cervus timorensis) is the second largest tropical deer after sambar. Compared to other Indonesian tropical deer, the timor deer (Cervus timorensis) is unique in that it is a deer that has many sub species, with a wide spread area. Timor deer (Cervus timorensis) are widely bred in various locations because they have high economic value, in which all parts can be utilized. The potential of timor deer can be developed as part of environmental services that have high value as recreational objects. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of timor deer feed (Cervus timorensis) at the University of Riau and determine the production of timor deer feed (Cervus timorensis) at the University of Riau. The study was conducted at a prospective location for timor deer breeding (Cervus timorensis), Riau University campus covering an area of approximately 2.07 ha. Sampling was carried out using a plot of 41 plots, with a size of 1 m x 10 m. Riau University has potential as a location for timor deer breeding (Cervus timorensis). Production of all types of deer feed in captive breeding sites amounted to 2,878.67 gr/m.  1Mahasiswa Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau2Dosen Fakultas Pertanian Universitas RiauJOM FAPERTA Vol. 6 Edisi 2 Juli s/d Desember 2019 Keywords : Timor deer (Cervus timorensis), Feed Production, Potentia

Abstract

Global warming become a hot issue in recent years, a source and cause of global climate change is the amount of carbon dioxide emissions produced by fossil fuels used motor vehicles and some of the industry to run the engine. One solution that is appropriate in reducing carbon emissions is the availability of green open space around the road traffic. This research intend to discover the potential uptake of carbon dioxide and some plant species potentially absorb carbon dioxide in the shade trees at Soekarno Hatta Pekanbaru street. This research using purposive sampling method to determine the sample leaves on plants. The trees sampled is the most dominant tree on the green line at Soekarno Hatta Pekanbaru street. The tree used in this research as many as 27 trees, ie 9 angsana (Pterocarpus indicus Willd.), 9 mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla King.) and 9 eucalyptus (Melaleuca leucadendron L.). The results show angsana has potential of carbon dioxide absorption highest than mahogany and eucalyptus at Soekarno Hatta Pekanbaru street. Keywords: Carbondioxide, Angsana, Mahogany, and Eucalyptus.

This mangrove forest becomes a place for flora and fauna that live interconnected. This research aims to find out the diversity of bird species in mangrove ecotourism sungai rawa. Research data collection uses the IPA (Index Point of Abundance) and Rapid Assessment Methods by observation to obtain data directly in the region. The data was analyzed using formulations of type diversity, type equality, type similarity and abundance of types. Based on data processing obtained 20 types of birds from 13 bird families, namely, Centropus bengalensis, Pycnonotus cyaniventris, Dinopium javanense, Prinia familiaris, Granulax lugubris, Collocalia esculenta, Treron fulvicollis, Eudynamys saturates, Picus vittatus, Acridotherestristis, Zosterops palpebrosus, Rhipidura javanica,Geopelia striata, Ixobrychus eurhythmus, Butorides striatus, Todirhamphus sanctus, Celeus brachyurus,Picoides moluccensis), Cikalang, Tringa brevipes. With the magnitude of each diversity index on land zoning 2.36, central zonation 2.76, coastal zonation 1.93. For the type leveling index on land zonation 0.02, central zonation 0.02, coastal zonation 0.05. The type similarity index is classified as high with a magnitude of 57 %-97% and for the abundance of middle zonation types is highest with the number of 20 types. Keywords: Mangrove Ecotourism  Sungai Rawa, diversity of birds, species richness
