Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of dayah accreditation bodies in Aceh as instruments for improving the quality of Islamic religious education. The study employs a library research approach with content analysis of scholarly articles, research reports, local regulations such as the Qanun Dayah, and other supporting documents. The findings reveal that the accreditation process has significantly improved dayah management, including the implementation of more systematic documentation, data digitalization, and increased transparency and accountability. Accreditation has also strengthened teachers’ professional competencies through training and fostered a culture of continuous evaluation. However, challenges remain, such as limited human resources, internal resistance to change, administrative burdens, and potential biases that emphasize document completeness over substantive educational quality. Public and stakeholder perceptions of the performance of dayah accreditation bodies are generally positive, as accreditation is viewed as enhancing public trust and the reputation of dayah institutions. Nevertheless, criticisms arise concerning insufficient public dissemination, limited transparency of accreditation results, and concerns that uniform national standards might diminish local cultural identity. The study concludes that dayah accreditation should not be merely an administrative formality but can serve as a transformative strategy for educational quality improvement, if supported by substantive evaluations, harmonization of national standards with local values through the Qanun Dayah, education-based public communication, and active engagement of strategic stakeholders.

Abstract

This research focused on the political issues of Islamic education in contemporary Islamic boarding schools, particularly in the process of forming Muslim identity. Secularism, as a paradigm underlying the modernization of education in Indonesia, influenced national education policy, including policies regarding Islamic boarding schools. One of the main problems was the poor quality of teachers in Islamic educational institutions, which was exacerbated by the dominance of secular policies in the national education system. The aim of this research was to examine how secularism as an educational paradigm impacted modern Islamic boarding schools, as well as how the quality of teachers influenced the formation of Muslim identity in the Islamic boarding school environment. The method used was a literature review or library study, where the researcher examined relevant literature on secularism in education, teacher quality, and the political dynamics of Islamic education. The research results indicated that secularism in education tended to overlook fundamental Islamic values in the curriculum of Islamic boarding schools, making it difficult for these institutions to maintain their Islamic identity. The struggle to produce a competitive Muslim generation that adhered firmly to Islamic principles was also hindered by the low quality of teachers. The implication was that teachers and Islamic boarding schools should be given more freedom to create curricula that aligned with Islamic principles and met the demands of the times.

So it can be concluded, based on the analysis of the philosophy of Islamic education physical education conducted at MAS Istiqomah Sri Gunting, the objectives and implementation cannot be said to be sourced from the Quran, hadith, and the opinions of scholars as the source of Islamic educational philosophy.
