Abstract

The sea cucumber is one of the organisms from the Echinodermata phylum, Holothuridae class. Sea cucumbers (Holothuria) can be found throughout the coastal waters, ranging from shallow tidal areas to deeper waters. This study aims to determine the species composition and economic value of sea cucumbers in Banyak Island waters. This research was conducted from August to September 2023, coinciding in the waters of Banyak Island Aceh Singkil. The research method was carried out by identifying sea cucumber documentation collected directly from local fishermen and conducting direct interviews with collectors who operate to obtain information about the selling price of sea cucumbers. Based on observations, sea cucumbers obtained in the waters of Banyak Island consist of several species in 2 families. The composition of sea cucumber species obtained includes Holothuria atra, H. fuscocinerea, H.edulis, H. fuscopunctata, and Stichopus pseudohorrens. Sea cucumbers found by fishermen have varying economic values, from cheap to expensive prices. The price is influenced by various factors, including the type of sea cucumber and its weight. Each type of sea cucumber has a different selling value, and its weight size is one of the main determining factors in the selling price

Abstract

West Aceh is an area that is directly opposite the Indian Ocean and has its own Oceanographic characteristics and dynamics. Sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a are influenced by these oceanographic factors, such as currents and winds. wind, besides that the fertility of a water body is closely related to temperature and chlorophyll-a. The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution pattern of sea surface temperature sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a and determine the relationship between sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a in the waters of the ocean. and chlorophyll-a in the waters of West Aceh. This research was conducted from January to October 2022 in the waters of West Aceh. The method used descriptive method and mathematical modeling method. Observation results It was found that the distribution pattern of sea surface temperature has a difference every month. the lowest temperature in October 29.150C and the highest in May 35.090C. May 35.090C. Distributed temperature distribution caused by by the movement of currents and winds on the sea surface. high chlorophyll-a concentrations are close to the mouth of the river around the West Aceh coast and are distributed by currents and surface winds. range of chlorophyll concentration concentrations were lowest in August at 0.09 mg/m3 and highest in September at 6.97 mg/m3. September 6.97 mg/m3. The correlation coefficient (r) of the relationship between sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a of 0.601797 which is positive

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems in Tanjung Rejo Village, Percut Sei Tuan Sub-district, Deli Serdang experienced a lot of land conversion in the form of residential, agricultural and plantation lands. This causes abrasion in this region because there is no protection from waves and sea waves in this region. Land conversion and abrasion caused many mangrove trees to die. Mangrove trees that died were only used on the trunk, twigs and leaves by local residents. Many parts of the dead mangrove roots are not utilized. This community service activity aims to provide information and skills to partner groups about the making of MAROCA. Through this activity, partners will gain knowledge and skills in making MAROCA so that materials that are not initially valuable like dead mangrove roots become useful. Based on the description of the problem and the purpose of this community service activity, the activities that have been carried out are counseling about the manufacturing of MAROCA, giving leaflets for the procedures for making and providing tools and materials. The results obtained are increased knowledge and skills of partners about the benefits of dead mangrove roots as economically valuable handicrafts.
