Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on education, particularly reducing the readiness of high school students to enter higher education due to the limited availability of career counseling services. This has led to an increasing number of mismatches in university program selections, including among high school students in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Therefore, an effective strategy is required to prepare high school students for higher education, especially within the context of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) framework. The College Readiness training was conducted at the Zainul Hasan Islamic Boarding School by applying the Trait and Factor counseling approach. A total of 31 high school students were trained to enhance their readiness to enter college, with an additional focus on orienting them to become peer counselors. This blended method training was implemented through five stages: (1) design development, (2) preparation of materials, (3) socialization and pre-test, (4) training implementation, and (5) evaluation and closing. The training materials included topics such as (1) recognizing personal potential, (2) understanding the MBKM program in higher education, (3) recognizing assignment patterns in tertiary institutions, (4) selecting the appropriate major, (5) learning motivation, (6) time management, and (7) coping with exam anxiety. The pre-test and post-test results indicated a significant increase in the students' readiness to enter higher education following the training. Given its importance, it is recommended that counseling teachers engage actively in career guidance to prepare students for higher education within the MBKM framework. Alumni of this training can also be involved in helping other students improve their preparedness for entering higher education.

Abstract

Multicultural counseling is an essential approach for counseling services in Indonesia, with thousands of cultures and local wisdom. Multicultural Counselling is one of the keys to understanding the student's views, characteristics, and values based on their cultural background. One of the multicultural counseling developments is integrating Madhura's Parebhasan into the narrative counseling model. This research aims to develop a hybrid training design to improve counselor skills using narrative counseling based on Madhura's Parebhasan. This research used ADDIE's model to develop the training program. Data collection from 20 counselors in Madura used the reflection and training test and performance observation form. Data analysis uses descriptive, graphical, correlation, and regression analysis. The research results show that mastery of the material and practices in training affect the counselor's performance. Five Madhura's Parebhasans are integrated and suitable for escalating the effect of the narrative counseling procedure. The hybrid training package of Narrative Counseling based on Parebhasan has been developed and validated in practice. This research suggests testing the effectiveness and evaluating the implementation for the specific needs and problems of the students.

Abstract

COVID-19 survivors with chronic illnesses face layered physical, emotional, and spiritual pressures. In a religious society like Indonesia, religiosity plays a vital role in fostering long-term psychological resilience. This study aims to (1) explore resilience patterns based on Ann S. Masten’s Ordinary Magic theory, (2) analyze the role of religiosity in activating adaptive strengths during grief from chronic illness, and (3) examine its relevance for developing school-based psychoeducational services. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected purposively from six survivors with comorbidities and two supporting informants. In-depth interviews and observations were analyzed thematically using MAXQDA. Findings revealed four key resilience patterns: stress resistance, recovery, normalization, and posttraumatic growth, all significantly shaped by religiosity. Practices such as prayer, spiritual reflection, and finding transcendental meaning helped individuals manage emotions, sustain hope, and build inner strength. These insights highlight the potential for integrating spiritual values into psychoeducational programs to support student resilience. Further research is encouraged to develop religiosity-based preventive interventions tailored to educational settings.

Abstract

Contextual changes in the learning process are one of the problems faced by students who start participating in the MBKM program. Self-regulated learning contributes to students being able to regulate their own learning so that students can achieve optimal results in implementing the MBKM program. The purpose of this study was to analyze the prevalence of self-regulated learning in generation Z students in the context of implementing the MBKM program. The research method used was quantitative research with a survey design. The sampling technique used stratified random sampling on MBKM students in the guidance and counselling department with a total sample of 57 MBKM program students. The data collection instrument was an independent learning scale. The analysis of the research data used descriptive analysis. The results of the study showed that most students who were generation Z had a level of self-regulated learning with moderate criteria or even fell into the low criteria category. The differences in the three indicators or dimensions of self-regulated learning showed no significant differences. Based on the results of this study, recommendations were provided for mentoring before the implementation of the MBKM program.
