Abstract

This study aims to analyze student errors related to the components of the PISA mathematical literacy process. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. In this study, the research subjects were students in grades IX 1 and IX 2 at SMP Negeri 4 Bengkulu City in the odd semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. Data collection techniques used in this study, namely test and interview methods. The components of the PISA mathematical literacy process discussed in this study are Communication, Mathematising, Representation.. The results showed that there are 40,85% of students make the error of communication processes. There are 48,59% of students make error of mathematising process. There are 53,41% of students make error of representation process.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of finding out the effect of the Group Investigation learning model with Geogebra tools on the learning outcomes of elementary algebra students in the Bachelor of Mathematics Education study program at Bengkulu University. The type of research carried out was quasi experimental research with a pre-test post-test control group design. The research sample was students from the Bachelor of Mathematics Education study program at Bengkulu University, semester 1A with a total of 29 students and semester 1B with a total of 29 students. Semester 1A students applied the Group Investigation model assisted by Geogebra and semester 1B students applied the conventional method. The data was analyzed statistically descriptively and inferentially using t-test and obtained a value of ????−???????????????????? or ????????????<0.05, namely 0.00<0.05, so it can be concluded that the use of the Group Investigation learning model assisted by Geogebra has affected student learning outcomes. Bengkulu University's Bachelor of Mathematics Education study program is effectively applied to elementary algebra learning in class and has an influence in improving student learning outcomes

Abstract

This study is quasi-experimental research. This study was conducted in the eight grade at SMPN 4 Bengkulu City for the 2021–2022 academic year. Two experimental groups were selected randomly from eight classes. After performing normality and homogeneity tests, a sample of class A was made up of 31 students who received Problem Based Learning (PBL) model treatment and class C was made up of 30 students who received Guided Discovery Learning (GDL) model treatment. In this study, two types of data analyses—descriptive data analysis and inferential analysis—were used. The data on the students’ problem-solving ability before and after treatment were described using descriptive analysis. The t-test of two independent sample means, which compares the means of two separate samples, was used to compare differences in the efficacy of learning models with PBL and GDL on students' ability to solve mathematical problems. The result shows that the ability to solve mathematical problems on average using the PBL model and the GDL approach is equivalent.
