Abstract

Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the frequency of online game use on the achievement motivation of elementary school students. Method: 140 fourth and fifth grade students from SDN X in Sukodono District, Sidoarjo Regency were sampled using a purposive sampling strategy. The results showed a negative relationship (r = -0.379; p <.001) between the frequency of online game use and achievement motivation, according to the Pearson product-moment correlation analysis method. Results: The results showed a negative relationship (r = -0.379; p <.001) between the frequency of online game use and achievement motivation, according to the Pearson product-moment correlation analysis method. This means that students' achievement motivation decreases when the frequency of online game use increases, and vice versa. Novelty: One of the interesting and relevant internal factors among students today is the use of online games. Additional Background (not explicitly labeled in original): The current phenomenon shows that there is a lot of decline and low achievement motivation from elementary school level to the next level of education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence and inner child on forgiveness in students who have good academic achievement (at least IPS 3.5). The background of this study is based on the importance of the ability to forgive in maintaining emotional balance, especially in high-achieving students who are prone to experiencing academic and emotional pressure. This study uses a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression methods. The research subjects were 182 active students of Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo Psychology study program, selected through purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using three psychological scales, namely the forgiveness scale, emotional intelligence scale, and inner child scale. The results showed that simultaneously, emotional intelligence and inner child had a significant effect on forgiveness (R² = 0.925; p 0.001). However, partially only emotional intelligence has a significant effect on forgiveness (p 0.001), while the inner child does not show a significant effect (p = 0.921). These findings suggest that emotional intelligence is an important factor in improving forgiveness in high-achieving students

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of psychological well-being and loneliness on celebrity worship among K-pop fans aged 18–25, categorized into three levels: entertainment-social, intense-personal, and borderline-pathological. Using a quantitative approach with a regression design and simple random sampling technique, data were collected through an online questionnaire utilizing the Celebrity Worship Scale (CWS), UCLA Loneliness Scale, and Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWBS). The results of multiple regression analysis indicate that both variables significantly influence celebrity worship, both simultaneously and partially, with a contribution of 58.7%, while the remaining 41.3% is assumed to be influenced by other factors not examined in this study, such as self-esteem, social support, or affiliation needs.

Abstract

Background: Self-confidence is an essential psychological aspect for the elderly, yet aging often leads to psychosocial challenges, including stress, depression, and reduced social roles. Specific Background: Elderly residents in social institutions frequently experience low confidence, affecting their well-being and social interactions. Knowledge Gap: Although various interventions exist, limited research in Indonesia has investigated horticultural therapy as a structured approach to build elderly self-confidence. Aim: This study examines whether horticultural therapy can significantly improve self-confidence among elderly individuals in Liponsos Sidoarjo. Results: Using a quantitative pre-experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest method, three elderly participants aged 60 and above were observed. Data were collected using a self-confidence scale based on Lauster’s theory and analyzed with Paired Sample T-Test. Findings revealed a significant improvement between pretest and posttest scores (p = 0.048), with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 2.547). Novelty: Unlike prior studies, this research applied structured gardening activities, from planting to harvesting, within a social institutional context. Implications: Horticultural therapy can serve as a practical and sustainable intervention to enhance psychological well-being and self-confidence in the elderly population of social care facilities. Highlights: Horticultural therapy increased elderly self-confidence Structured gardening activities supported psychological well-being Applicable in social institution settings Keywords: Self-Confidence, Horticultural Therapy, Elderly, Psychological Well-Being, Intervention

Abstract

General background: Parental involvement is a crucial factor in supporting children’s learning development, yet many parents remain insufficiently engaged in their child’s education. Specific background: Religiosity has been associated with parenting practices, but its role in shaping parental involvement remains inconclusive, particularly when psychological constructs such as self-esteem are considered. Knowledge gap: Prior studies often examined religiosity and parental involvement separately, with limited attention to self-esteem as a mediating variable. Aims: This study investigates the relationship between religiosity and parental involvement, with self-esteem serving as a mediator. Results: A survey of 248 parents from SDN X in Krian District, Sidoarjo, analyzed using a mediation path model, revealed that religiosity had a significant direct relationship with parental involvement (z = 3.625, p < 0.001). Additionally, self-esteem significantly mediated this relationship (z = 2.324, p = 0.020). Novelty: The study demonstrates the psychological pathway by which religiosity translates into active parental participation through self-esteem, adding a new dimension to existing parenting models. Implications: Findings suggest that strengthening both religiosity and parental self-esteem may foster more consistent involvement in children’s education and care. Highlights: Religiosity directly predicts parental involvement. Self-esteem significantly mediates this relationship. Study introduces a psychological pathway in parenting research. Method: This study uses a correlational quantitative approach, involving 68 working parents as the sample. The sample was determined using the accidental sampling technique at 4 special schools in the Sidoarjo District area. The instruments in this study consist of 3 psychological scales, namely: Psychological Well-Being Scales (PWB), Neff's Self-Compassion Scale, and Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ). The analysis technique used multiple regression analysis with the help of JASP 0.18.1 software. Results: The analysis results (F (2.65) = 12.133; P < .001) indicate that self-compassion and emotion regulation simultaneously have an impact on psychological well-being. Novelty: The implication of this research is as a basis for counseling-based intervention programs to enhance the self-compassion and emotional regulation abilities of working parents with children with special needs to achieve psychological well-being.
