Abstract

This research aims to explore variations in slang English used by social media users and responses using slang English. Social media was the subject of this study such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. A descriptive qualitative method was used in this investigation. The subjects of this research are teenagers or social media/internet users in data collection. The questionnaire approach is the data collection strategy employed in this study, namely by chatting on social media. The questions are based on the questionnaire and carrying out documentation as a complement. In this research, 2 data collection techniques were used, specifically, snowball sampling and purposeful sampling.The data collected was then analyzed based on relevant theories about sociolinguistic studies, and about language attitudes and language variations, especially English slang on social media. The findings in this research show that the English slang most frequently used by respondents on social media is WhatsApp and Instagram. In this case, the slang has four types, namely flippant, imitative, acronym, and clipping. Then the slang English abbreviations that are most widely used on social media are Kepo, DM, Btw, Thx, Otw, Gws, Lol, Pap, Fyi, Guys, and Cod. The reason that makes them interested in using slang on social media is because it is a trend following the times, to make it look cool, not awkward, more familiar with friends, and easy to use among teenagers.

Abstract

Learning Language Indonesia in Senior High School 3 Sidrap Which is done by the Teacher does not yet show quality, so students feel fed up, and not enough active in learning, and student learning outcomes are still low. This research aims to know the performance model And know increasing learning outcomes through the application of the Quantum method of Writing. Study This uses the method of Study Class Action ( PTK ) which is carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of one meeting, and each cycle consists of four stages viz planning, implementation, observation, And reflection. Data results study in getting by using student activity observation sheets as well tests. The research results obtained are an increase in value significant from cycle I to cycle II. Still, students in cycle I are still in the less category, in cycle II are in a good and very good position. This clearly shows a difference. In cycle I there are only eight students who completed KKM, while in cycle II 29 students Already completed KKM. With thereby, 72.4% of student experience enhancement from cycle I to cycle II.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan program pengabdian masyarakat dengan judul "Edukasi Konservasi Lingkungan Hidup Melalui Pemanfaatan Tanaman Obat di Sekitar Lingkungan SMKN 4 Sidrap." Program ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada masyarakat, khususnya siswa SMKN 4 Sidrap, tentang pentingnya konservasi lingkungan hidup dan manfaat dari tanaman obat yang ada di sekitar lingkungan sekolah. Metode yang digunakan dalam program ini melibatkan penyuluhan, pelatihan, dan praktik langsung dalam menanam, merawat, dan menggunakan tanaman obat. Selain itu, program ini juga mengajak partisipasi aktif siswa dalam kegiatan konservasi lingkungan seperti penghijauan, pemilahan sampah, dan praktik penggunaan bahan alami sebagai alternatif produk komersial. Hasil dari program pengabdian ini menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa tentang pentingnya menjaga lingkungan hidup dan memanfaatkan sumber daya alam secara berkelanjutan. Mereka juga mampu mengidentifikasi dan memanfaatkan berbagai tanaman obat yang tumbuh di sekitar lingkungan sekolah untuk keperluan medis dan kecantikan. Selain itu, program ini juga mendorong kesadaran akan kebersihan lingkungan sekolah dan keterlibatan siswa dalam upaya konservasi. Program "Edukasi Konservasi Lingkungan Hidup Melalui Pemanfaatan Tanaman Obat di Sekitar Lingkungan SMKN 4 Sidrap" diharapkan dapat menjadi contoh bagi sekolah lain dalam upaya meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan dan keterlibatan aktif masyarakat dalam pelestarian sumber daya alam lokal. Dengan demikian, upaya ini berpotensi memberikan dampak positif dalam menjaga keberlanjutan lingkungan hidup di wilayah tersebut.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the teaching experiences of prospective teachers before and after participating in the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) at UMS Rappang. The research utilizes a qualitative descriptive method, collecting data through interviews, observations, and document analysis. Findings indicate significant improvements in pedagogical skills, classroom management, and teaching confidence after the completion of the PPG program. The study highlights the role of professional education in preparing teachers for effective classroom practice and fostering a deeper understanding of teaching methodologies. These findings suggest that PPG plays a vital role in shaping competent and professional educators

Abstract

This research examines the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, specifically using the Canva application, on English language learning at SMP Negeri 3 Baranti. The study employs a quantitative approach with an experimental design, involving two groups of eighth-grade students: an experimental group using AI-powered Canva for learning activities and a control group following traditional teaching methods. Over an eight-week period, the experimental group engaged with various AI-enhanced educational tools, including learning videos, interactive posters, and quizzes. Data were collected through English skills tests and student questionnaires, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including independent t-tests. The findings indicate that students in the experimental group showed significant improvement in their English language skills compared to the control group. Additionally, these students reported higher levels of motivation and engagement in the learning process. The study concludes that integrating AI in educational tools like Canva can enhance the quality of English language education. It recommends that educational institutions consider adopting AI technologies to create a more engaging and effective learning environment. Further research is suggested to explore the long-term effects of AI in education and its adaptation to individual student needs.

Abstract

This study used a qualitative research approach. This research aims to find out how students see the role of information and communication technology in improving writing creativity. The researcher gathered 8 4th semester English students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang. The researcher collected data through questionnaires and interviews. This is evidenced by the percentage of 50% of the total frequency of 4 out of 8 students who strongly agree that the existence of information and communication technology can improve writing creativity. The percentage who agree with the existence of information and communication technology can improve writing creativity is 37.5% with 3 students, and the percentage who disagree with the existence of information and communication technology can improve writing creativity is 12.5% with 1 student, and there are no students who strongly disagree with the existence of information and communication technology can develop writing creativity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze: (1) the effect of applying the reward method in the form of achievement stars on the English learning motivation of fifth-grade students at SDN 256 Benteng Jati; (2) the effect of applying the reward method in the form of achievement stars on their English learning outcomes; and (3) the overall influence of the reward method on students’ motivation and learning outcomes. The research employed a quasi-experimental design using the Pretest-Posttest Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The population consisted of 110 students of SDN 256 Benteng Jati, while the sample was the fifth-grade students divided into two classes: Class Va (11 students) as the experimental group and Class Vb (11 students) as the control group. Data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The findings reveal that the implementation of the reward method significantly affected the students’ motivation in learning English and also improved their learning outcomes. Thus, providing rewards in the form of achievement stars proved to be an effective strategy to enhance both learning motivation and achievement among fifth-grade students.

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) pada siswa sekolah dasar di wilayah pedesaan melalui edukasi interaktif. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SD Negeri 2 dan SD Negeri 3 Rijang Panua, Sidenreng Rappang, dengan pendekatan partisipatif yang melibatkan siswa, guru, dan orang tua. Program terdiri dari tiga tahap: persiapan dan koordinasi dengan pihak sekolah, pelaksanaan edukasi interaktif menggunakan media visual, permainan, dan demonstrasi, serta evaluasi melalui pre-test, post-test, dan observasi perilaku. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pengetahuan PHBS siswa, dari rata-rata 52% menjadi 82% di SD Negeri 2 dan dari 49% menjadi 79% di SD Negeri 3. Perubahan perilaku seperti kebiasaan mencuci tangan, menjaga kebersihan lingkungan, dan konsumsi makanan sehat juga teramati. Peran guru dan orang tua sangat penting dalam mempertahankan perubahan ini. Program ini berkontribusi terhadap pengembangan pendidikan dengan menunjukkan efektivitas edukasi kesehatan interaktif dalam menumbuhkan perilaku hidup sehat berkelanjutan pada siswa sekolah dasar di pedesaan.

Abstract

Reflection on learning is a vital component of the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program, particularly in enhancing the competence of novice teachers. At Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang (UMS Rappang), reflection serves as a mechanism to evaluate and improve teaching practices across pedagogical, professional, social, and personal competencies. This study examines strategies such as daily reflective journals, group discussions, observation and feedback, case studies, and the integration of technology in reflective processes. These strategies aim to develop critical thinking, self-awareness, and innovative teaching approaches among novice teachers. The findings highlight that systematic reflection significantly improves teaching effectiveness, professional development, and student learning outcomes. The structured application of reflective practices empowers novice teachers to become adaptive, professional educators prepared to address the challenges of modern education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between professional competence obtained through Teacher Professional Education (PPG) and the teaching readiness of teachers at SMP Negeri 6 Pangkajene Sidrap. The research employs a quantitative approach with a correlational method to explore how the professional skills acquired from PPG influence teachers' preparedness in delivering lessons effectively. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation, involving teachers who have completed the PPG program as participants. The findings reveal a significant correlation between professional competence and teaching readiness, indicating that the training provided in PPG equips teachers with essential skills and knowledge to enhance their classroom performance. The results of this research provide insights into the importance of professional development programs in improving the quality of education and contribute to strategies for optimizing teacher training initiatives.
